    My colleagues have released a neat tool you can use to monitor — and be creeped out by — your "smart" devices found her coffee pot sending data to Microsoft and her Echo connecting to 17 different domains every few minutes when *not* being used.

    Last year, I monitored my smart home to see what it was doing. Now, Princeton researchers have created a tool that will let you do it too:

    NYC hasn't provided any examples of automated decision systems (ADS) used by the city, even to members of NYC ADS Task Force. So we did it ourselves. Here's a chart of ADS that NYC is definitely using, and some we believe they might be using.

    Yes, we raise point #2 in the AIA Report () arguing that the nonpublic DPIA model under GDRP would be better under a public disclosure/notice and comment framework.

    1) is FTC oversight ideal? we just heard from the FTC that they are massively understaffed *specifically* in this area. even if you assume the resource problem away, imo it's unclear. 2) unsure as to the trade-offs by making the impact assessments non-public. pros and cons.
