What is Fable Legends?

Return to Albion, a picturesque land full of thrilling stories, exciting combat, and high adventure. It’s no surprise that millions of players have visited and adored the welcoming countryside of this once upon a time storyland. “Fable Legends” brings you to a place where history, myth, and folklore are practically the same thing. Of course you’ll also find monsters, villains, and even the occasional disaster, but you shouldn’t take it too seriously. Albion is a unique fantasy land where epic, tragic, and comedic stories all combine for a one of a kind experience.
- New Ways to Play the Hero
In “Fable Legends”, you’re never completely alone. You can play the game single player, with a party of three heroic AI companions that follow your lead through stories and adventures. Or you can play cooperatively with up to three friends and discover the game’s quests and content together. Play whatever style you want, when you want. After all, you’re the Hero. And just what kind of Hero you choose to play is up to you. “Fable Legends” takes you back to a time when Albion is teeming with Heroes, so there’s bound to be one for you. Fearless warriors. Cunning tricksters. Masters of Will. Paragons of virtue. Heartless mercenaries. Intoxicated brawlers. Chicken chasers. They’re all here, and many more besides. You’ll be able to customize your abilities, alter your appearance, and advance your Hero by earning experience and finding new armour, weapons, and treasures.

Fable has always presented opportunities for mischief and villainy, and in “Fable Legends” we’re going to offer a way to play the bad guy as never before. The Villain player takes control of the many creatures, minions, traps, and environmental hazards that Heroes must overcome. Villain play combines elements of strategic decision making and tactical control. When those pitiful Heroes enter an area, you’ll choose which minions are sent into battle and where to place these creatures to maximize their effectiveness. Once the fight begins, you issue the orders for your creatures to execute: telling them where to go, which Hero to attack, and what abilities to use to ensure your evil plans come to fruition.
What is the setting for “Fable Legends”?
Fable Legends welcomes you back to the fantastic land of Albion, home to the previous Fable games. Lived out in an eternal “once upon a time”, Albion is a fairy tale world where history, legend, and folklore are practically the same thing. So it’s no surprise that millions of players have visited and adored its welcoming countryside. Albion is a place full of action, humour, and opportunity. Of course you’ll find monsters, villains, and even the occasional disaster, but you shouldn’t take any of it too seriously. Albion is a land of fun and light-hearted adventure for you to lose yourself in. Enjoy the shining green fields, the silly accents and the occasional proposition from an “attractive” villager.
Can I play Fable Legends as a multiplayer experience?
Yes. You can play with other people in a four-player cooperative experience. Your party could be all human players, or a mix of players and AI-controlled Heroes. You can switch easily between single player and multiplayer styles of play whenever you decide, or when a friend signs on. During a quest, you can elect to battle a human or an AI Villain. As a Villain, you can challenge parties of human players, AI opponents, or mixed groups. After all, as a mastermind of evil, you’re ready to swat aside any adversaries.
Can I play Fable Legends as a single player experience?
Yes. In Fable Legends, you can enjoy all of the game’s content in a single player experience.
Who is the Hero in Fable Legends?
That’s for you to choose. Fable Legends takes you back to a time when Albion was teeming with Heroes, so there’s bound to be one for you. Fearless warriors. Cunning tricksters. Masters of Will. Paragons of virtue. Heartless mercenaries. Intoxicated brawlers. Chicken chasers. They’re all here, and many more besides.
When Albion is only just learning what a Hero can be, no would-be Hero can stand alone. It is important to consider the mix of Heroes you take with you on your next quest. Do you recruit the dashing swordsman? If you like your swordplay elegant and lightly powdered, you’ll have no trouble finding your prince charming. But if you’re more man-o-war than manicure, you’ll find grizzled archers and lone wolves forced to adapt to life with the pack. Of course, in this period of Albion’s history there is an abundance of magic. Some Heroes manipulate the world using the power of Will to make Albion a better place (or just fancy setting part of it on fire). You could round off your group with a stalwart defender, ready to lead from the front and better things into the ground. Heroes like these represent a small sample of what Albion has to offer you. Whichever Heroes you choose to bring along on your adventurer, you’ll need to work together and fight hard if you want to create a Legend.
How do I play as a Villain?
Playing as a Villain in Fable Legends combines elements of strategic decision making and tactical control. When is Fable Legends going to be released?
We are happy to be able to announce that the game is in development, but we aren’t yet able to announce when Fable Legends will be available. The development team is hard at work building characters, creatures, quests, and everything we need to bring Albion back to life. Our multi player beta will be arriving in the Fall, so be sure to sign up at www.fablelegends.com.
What platforms will Fable Legends be available on?
Fable Legends will release on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
Windows 10 PC FAQ
Will Fable Legends release on Windows 10 and Xbox One at the same time?
A: While Xbox One and Windows 10 will experience a different beta testing schedule, the game is due to launch on both platforms at the same time.
Will Fable Legends support cross-device play?
Yes! Using the power of Xbox Live, we are enabling cross-device play between Windows 10 PC and Xbox One. Play with friends and match-make on either device, with any combination of Windows 10 PC and Xbox One players in exciting 4v1 multiplayer matches.
How do I download Fable Legends on PC?
If and when you’re selected to take part in the Beta, you’ll be sent instructions explaining how to get hold of the game.
Will I be able to choose between keyboard and mouse or controller on PC?
Yes, you can play with either mouse/keyboard or gamepad plugged in to your USB. You can hotswap on the fly too!
Can I customise my control layout?
Absolutely!
Is there any support for left handed players?
We will ship with Left Handed friend control scheme, but you can also customize your mouse/keyboard mapping.
My PC has (x, y, z) specs, will it be able to run Fable Legends?
Currently Fable Legends is still in development and as such we’re not ready to share minimum system specs just yet. Don’t worry though, we’ll share that information as soon as we can so you can make sure you’re all set for when the game launches!
Will I be able to play Fable Legends on an earlier version of Windows?
Fable Legends is designed specifically to take advantage of the cross-device gameplay functionality that Windows 10 offers, and will be available exclusively to Windows 10 and Xbox One.
Will Windows 10 and Xbox One share achievements/gamer points?
Absolutely – your achievements and gamer points will be shared between Windows 10 and Xbox One.
Where can I sign up for the Fable Legends Windows 10 Beta?
Visit fablelegends.com and click the 'Register for Multi Player Beta' link. Enter your email address and then follow the instructions to create your Beta account. Once you've done that, you'll just need to sign into your account and select Platform Preferences from the account drop down, and select which platform you'd like to test on.
I’ve signed up to the Fable Legends Windows 10 beta! When do I start?
The Xbox One Closed Beta program is already well under way and the Windows 10 Beta will kick off soon! As long as you’ve fully registered and flagged your interest to test on Windows 10 in your account page, then you’ll just need to wait until you’re selected. We’ll email you when that time comes!
If I get invited to the Xbox One beta test and I also have a Windows 10 PC, am I automatically part of the Windows 10 Beta?!
While it’s certainly possible to be part of both beta programs, you won’t automatically be enrolled into both when you’re invited to take part in one.
Will Fable Legends use DX12?
Yes, as long as you have a DX12 graphics card! The fantastic Unreal Engine 4 combined with DX12 means Fable Legends promises to be one of the most visually stunning spectacles on PC – see for yourself by watching this video!
