Our fellow Americans: President Selina Meyer wants to sell you some sweaters. And dresses, accessories and more.

Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus is following in the cute and affordable skinny jeans of Amy Poehler by becoming the new face of Old Navy, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which says that ads featuring the actress will debut on Dec. 3 and run through next summer.

And if having a five-time Emmy winner on hand to tout clothes wasn’t enough film cred, Old Navy also recruited Francis Ford-Coppola’s son Roman (who produced The Bling Ring) to direct the commercials. Apparently, Louis-Dreyfus played a key role in how the spots looked and sounded.

“Julia has a fearless sense of humor and is going to provide plenty of laughs in both the broadcast spots and the outtakes,” the brand’s global chief marketing officer Ivan Wicksteed told THR. “But she’s much more than that — she’s also a creative partner and open to bending the rules of TV advertising, which is important to us in creating this campaign.”

Poehler served as Old Navy’s spokesperson for a year. Her last spot aired over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Allow Louis-Dreyfus to explain the concept of a “Turpigen” to you in the spot below, then tell us: What do you think of the new spokesperson?

Turpigen? Tersterical! Good for Old Navy!

Makes no sense. Julia’s great-great-grandfather was Léopold Louis-Dreyfus, founder of the Dreyfus Group. She comes from a family of billionaires and had an extremely privileged upbringing. Old Navy does not sell anything even remotely resembling that red lace dress. I admire her talents greatly, but she has never stepped foot in Old Navy in her life. Amy Poehler, at least, has two little kids. She’s rich, but not Dreyfus-rich. Moms shop at Old Navy because their clothes are cheap and kids grow out of their clothes so quickly.

Bad Choice, Old Navy on

Julia?! I think she’s talented but not a right fit for Old Navy.
I just ordered some affordable school clothes for my kid online and their website hardly seems suited to a 50-something spokeswoman like Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Julia is a great choice from a comedic standpoint but absolutely no one is going to believe she actually shops there. Amy Poehler made way more sense as someone who would be an actual customer.

Personally, I loved it! I love old Navy despite the fact that 1. I am 57 and 2. none of their clothing fits me. I think that Old Navy is dang lucky to have such a great physical comedienne on board. These will be commercials I WON’T fast forward through!

I shop for my kids at Old Navy because their jeans are chep. I dont shop for myself there because their jeans are cheaply made.
