Super Meat Boy hits PS4, PS Vita this fall, will be a free PS Plus title

Super Meat Boy is heading to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita this fall, co-creator Tommy Refenes announced today on the game's official website. "When Super Meat Boy was launched, Team Meat wasn't allowed to bring it to the PlayStation for very complicated reasons," Refenes wrote. "They hated that they had to alienate the loyal PlayStation fans who desperately wanted the game but couldn't have it ... Earlier this year, Team Meat got an unexpected gift. The gods smiled upon them and opened up a teeny tiny sliver of a path that could eventually lead them to re-release Super Meat Boy." Upon release, it will be available to PlayStation Plus members for free. Super Meat Boy was first released in 2010 for Xbox 360 as part of Microsoft's GameFeast promotion; the developer has been c...

Bloodstained now promises Vita port as donations surge past $3.5 million

With four days left in its campaign, Bloodstained, the Castlevania spiritual successor, has raised $3.6 million in seed money for its development and now promises to offer a PS Vita port. The port will be handled by Armature, which also will be brought in to do the Wii U port that was promised when the funding campaign hit $3 million last week. That brings to five the number of platforms on which Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be published: PlayStation 4, Wii U, Windows PC, Xbox One and PS Vita. The Vita port promises cross-save support, PlayStation TV support, support for touch-screen controls and the means to export the soundtrack to the Vita's music library. Originally seeking $500,000 in backing, Bloodstained now has $3,633,651. The remaining stretch goals go up to $4.75...

Even a video game can't handle baseball's switch-pitching phenomenon

You don't have to be a baseball fan to understand how last night's game between Boston and Oakland was an historic occurrence: A pitcher threw with both arms in a Major League game. Pat Venditte of the A's got six outs with both hands, allowing no one to score. Is baseball's premier video game, which prides itself on realism, equipped to handle this? The short answer, for those who don't follow baseball and/or don't play it on a gaming console, is no. You may now move on to other subjects, unless you're curious of how far "simulation-quality" sports video games are willing to go to live up to that. Because in MLB 15 The Show on PlayStation 4, PS3 and PS Vita, Venditte would require tons of special programming, the same way Venditte requires his own rule in real-life professional...

FIFA 16 won't be appearing on any Nintendo platforms, a first since 2000

While last year's FIFA 15 was available for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, it looks like this year's iteration of the soccer game won't be going handheld. There's also no sign of a Wii or Wii U version. The company announced this week that the game will be released on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC on Sept. 22. 3DS and Vita versions have been a staple of FIFA for the last four iterations, back to FIFA 12. Prior to that, the game was always released on PSP and DS, back to FIFA 05. "With regards to FIFA 16 there isn't a Vita or 3DS version," an EA representative told PocketGamer. "We don't have any further detail on the mobile version but will be sure to share with you when we hear more." EA's press materials make no mention of a Wii version either....
