I realize we had major extension releases in the news until roughly 06-2013. I think we should revive this and inform MediaWiki users about extensions as well. The question is, which extensions do we monitor, and who triggers the news? Any suggestions?
Maybe extensions, that are heavily used (according to WikiApiary), are newsworthy. Or extensions, that are added to mediawiki core or become Wikimedia extensions. Or maybe it suffices to produce a monthly/quarterly news article, that lists all major extension releases.
