Fees

It is the individual student who is liable for the costs of study at Oxford which is made up of University Fees, College Fees and Living Expenses.  Students may arrange for their studies to be funded or part funded by grants, sponsorship, awards, loans or other funding, but they are still individually liable for ensuring that all of the costs of their studies are paid in full.  In the unfortunate event that the arranged funding or loan money is either unavailable, withdrawn or is insufficient to cover the costs, the student must make alternative arrangements to cover all outstanding amounts.

University & College Fees

All self-financed students are required to pay the University Fee and College Fee (currently £2,319 for 2010-11) by the 30 September each academic year until fee liability has ended. You will receive an invoice in August. If you are a Grant Supported student, the College will invoice your funding body directly at the beginning of each academic year.

Continuation Charge

If it should happen that you continue to be registered for your programme of study beyond the standard fee liability which is normally the same as the standard length of your pragramme, a continuation charge will be levied by the University.  The details of this policy are currently being finalised with the charge expected to be in the range £250-£500 per term (there are three terms each year).  The same rate will apply to all students (regardless of Home/EU or Overseas fee status).  In addition, a College continuation charge (Graduate Member Charge), £300 (2011-12 rate) per annum is payable after fee liability has ceased and until the submission of your thesis.

Living Expenses

All Graduate students living in College accommodation (irrespective of their funding source) will be required to pay the Advance Living Expenses charge of £2,000 (for 2011/12) to the College by the 30 September each year for the duration of their residency at Wolfson College.

The Advance Living Expenses sum will be credited to your individual account with the College (College Battels Account) and will be applied towards charges made to the individual's Battels account e.g. room rental, key deposits and if applicable, meal charges, telephone calls, charges for clubs and societies etc.  Battels statements are issued monthly and will show the transactions on the individual's Battels account.  When the Advance Living Expenses money has been used up, then the individual will be required to pay all unsettled and future charges by the due date stated on the Battels statements.

Unfortunately, Wolfson College will be unable to contribute towards the funding of your studies, and or living expenses either in your first or in any subsequent year, unless you have already applied to, and are awarded an academic scholarship linked to the College through your Department.  The College is able to offer small grants towards expenses for fieldwork and attendance at conferences.
