New DUST 514 video primes players for New Eden

DUST 514 developer CCP released a video this weekend titled Way of the Mercenary to prime players for what they can expect when they jump into the first-person shooter set in the Eve Online universe later this year. The three and a half minute video explains the roles in DUST 514, skill loadouts, equipment loss and chat set-up. DUST 514 will release for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita later this year.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime has a very specific source of inspiration: the scene in the original Star Wars in which Han Solo and Luke Skywalker scramble to the Millenium Falcon's quad laser cannons to fend off an incoming TIE Fighter attack. To further drive home Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime's imaginative spark, Toronto-based developer Asteroid Base describes its two-player cooperative shooter/micro-platformer as "Jumpman meets Asteroids meets Han saying 'Don't get cocky.'" Two players must work together, running back and forth between the neon-pink Death Star's battle stations, controlling turrets, shields and thrusters to survive encroaching jellyfish attacks and sundry galactic threats. Battlefield 3 video shows upcoming Aftermath DLC running at max settings

A video showing Battlefield 3's upcoming Aftermath DLC reveals gameplay running at maximum settings on a PC, according to YouTube user MongolFPS, who posted and narrates the action. The video features skirmishes on the DLC's Epicenter multiplayer map, one of four set to arrive this Dec. In this new Ghost Recon Online trailer, lead game designer Jesse Knapp explains the game's new clan system, which fosters teamwork by building social bonds in the free-to-play online shooter. Mass Effect fans hungry for even more story to complement Mass Effect 3 can preview nine minutes of the upcoming anime prequel, Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, thanks to Funimation. The animated movie focuses on the early career of Mass Effect 3's James Vega, voiced by Freddie Prinze, Jr. In Paragon Lost, Vega leads a special forces team in battle against an invading alien threat known as The Collectors. Animation studio Funimation promises an "unprecedented glimpse into the haunted past of Mass Effect's newest hero." The film is a coproduction between series developer BioWare and Production I.G., perhaps best known for its work on Patlabor and Ghost in the Shell. Super Motherload trailer highlights Martian mining

A trailer for Super Motherload released last week highlights the game's single and multiplayer gameplay set beneath the surface of Mars. With action reminiscent of Dig Dug, the trailer above shows one to four player battles where players collect minerals to upgrade their mining pods. According to a post on developer XGen Studios' website, the team assembled the trailer after finalizing a build of the game to submit to the Independent Games Festival.
