WHO'S WHO IN THE CAST AND CREW:

ABIGAIL BAILEY (Costume Design) has been costuming for the Playhouse since 1998. Her most recent work was seen in A Christmas Story, Dinner with Friends, Ain't Misbehavin, Fully Committed, The Rimers of Eldritch, Cymbeline and Proof.

JOANN GREEN BREUER (Director) At the close of her years as Artistic Director of the Cambridge Ensemble, where she directed plays and adapted works from classical, contemporary, fiction, and folklore sources, all of which appeared on 'Best Ten' lists, Joann Green Breuer received an Eliot Norton Award for Continuous Excellence in Directing. She has directed with deaf/hearing companies, taught at Harvard University and elsewhere, and is the author of The Small Theatre Handbook. This is Joann's sixth season with the Vineyard Playhouse, where she directs plays and serves as the Artistic Associate. Immediately following Fighting Words, Joann flies to Stratford Upon Avon, to stage (again), with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company, the libretto she devised from The Log of the Skipper's Wife.

AMY COHN is the Operations Manager and Assistant to the Artistic Director at the Vineyard Playhouse where she has also stage managed several shows, including Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Rimers of Eldritch and A Christmas Story. She recently graduated from Emerson College with an M.A. in Theater Education and is teaching Summer Stars Theatre Arts Camp.

SALLY COHN (Properties, Set Dressing) has been working at the Playhouse since 1997 as a set dresser, properties manager and staff photographer. Recent Playhouse credits include A Christmas Story, Proof and Cymbeline.

JEROLD R. FORSYTH (Lighting Design) has designed more than 200 productions on the east coast, primarily in New York and Philadelphia. This is his third production at the Vineyard Playhouse, previously having designed The Passion of Henry David Thoreau and I Take Your Hand In Mine.

MIRA KINGSLEY (Peg) was last seen at the Playhouse in The Passion of Henry David Thoreau, and earlier this summer was up in Chilmark as the guest choreographer for the Patricia N. Nannon residency at The Yard. Performances include: Broadway (Three Sisters, Roundabout), The HBO Aspen Comedy Festival (Fair Fight), BAM's Next Wave Festival (Journey Beyond the West), Carnegie Hall (Electra), The Folger Shakespeare Theatre (Julius Caesar), numerous productions dancing for The Metropolitan Opera, and many productions with the acclaimed Aquila Theatre Company, including their Off-Broadway run of Comedy Of Errors. As a Director and Choreographer her work has been presented in venues including BAM's Next Wave Festival, The Joseph Papp Public Theatre, Gammage Auditorium, The Seattle International Children's Festival, The Kitchen, The Guggenheim Museum's Works in Process series, and Joyce Soho. Her newest original dance/theater work, We Sink as We Run, premiered this year in NYC and will be touring nationally in the coming year. She is currently creating a one-woman show based on the life on Amelia Earhart and planning her wedding to Brian Reid who is playing Iachimo in the Playhouse's production of Cymbeline.

SUNIL KURUVILLA (Playwright) A 1999 graduate of Yale School of Drama, Sunil Thomas Kuruvilla has developed his plays at such theatres as New York Theatre Workshop, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Portland Center Stage. He has received commissions form The Joseph Papp Public Theater, The Wilma Theater, and South Coast Repertory. Fighting Words had its world premiere at Toronto's Factory Theatre and Kuruvilla is currently working on a screen adaptation of the play for Showtime. He is also writing a screenplay about wrestler Bret Hart for CTV. Kuruvilla's play Rice Boy had its world premiere at Yale Repertory Theatre in fall 2000 and its west coast premiere at the Mark Taper Forum in spring 2001. In spring 2003, the play was performed at Canadian Stage.

JOHN MALINOWSKI (Set Design) designed the set for Jon Lipsky's Maggie's Riff last season and the lighting for the acclaimed production of Proof (Vineyard Playhouse). He has designed scenery for The Grapes of Wrath (Boston Conservatory), Winter's Tale (directed by Skip Aschiem), Kiss of the Spiderwoman (1991 Boston Theater Award Nomination), and Forever Plaid at the Vineyard Playhouse. He studied design at A.R.T. Institute (Cambridge, MA) under Tony Award winninjg Richard Riddell and Professor Robert Brustein. He has designed for International directors including : Anne Bogart, Tina Landau, Andrei Serban, Andrei Belgrader, Anna Devere Smith, and Lee Breuer. He was the lighting director of the First International Aerial Dance Festival produced by Jeremy Alliger at Boston's Majestic Theater. He has designed Off-Broadway at the Mint Space, HERE, Ohio Theater and the NY Fringe Festival. He has assisted Broadway designers James F. Ingalls (Elephant Man) and Kenneth Posner (Hairspray). He is the recipient of several design awards including the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Design and the prestigious NEA/TCG Design Fellowship (2000-2002). He lives in New York and teaches design at Brandeis University. He is a member of the United Scenic Artists (USA).

M.J. BRUDER MUNAFO is Producer and Artistic Director of the Vineyard Playhouse. She has directed and produced countless shows at the theater; most recently, Dinner with Friends, The Rimers of Eldritch, A Christmas Story and Proof.

SANDRA SHIPLEY (Mrs. Davies) makes her Playhouse debut in Fighting Words. Born and raised in England she appeared in West End Productions, the Edinburgh Festival, regional repertory and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare and Royal Court Companies. In the United States Sandra has appeared on Broadway in Indescretions, The Deep Blue Sea and most recently Vincent In Brixton. Off-Broadway she has worked at Manhattan Theatre Club, Lincoln Center, The Public Theatre, Blue Light, Second Stage, Classic Stage and The Roundabout. Sandra has extensive regional credits having appeared at many leading resident companies. Some favorite roles include, Josie in Moon For the Misbegotten, Shirley Valentine, Medea, and Filomena. She has appeared in the films Monument Avenue, Mermaids, The Retreat and The John Lennon Story. Her television appearances include Third Watch, Law & Order, Law & Order S.V.U. and All My Children. Sandra has received various awards for her work including Los Angeles Robbie for best performance in a drama, Boston Theatre Critics Circle Award and Boston Theater Awards for various Best Performances, The New England Theatre Conference Award and the Elliot Norton Award Medal for sustained theater excellence.

JANE SIEBELS (Stage Manager) This marks Jane's eighth show with the Playhouse. Favorites include I Take Your Hand in Mine and Ain't Misbehavin'. Regional credits include Boston Playwrights, Portland Stage, American Stage Festival and Asolo Theatre Festival. She is currently the resident Stage Manager at the Stoneham Theatre, where she is lucky enough to work with her husband, Troy.

MICHAELA WATKINS (Nia) is so pleased to be part of the Vineyard Playhouse summer season. Regional credits include Portland Center Stage: Bus Stop, Hamlet, Rosencrantz & Gildenstern are Dead; Portland Repertory Theatre: Arcadia; Artist Repertory Theatre: The Misanthrope, How I Learned To Drive as well as Merchant of Venice, The Winter's Tale, Angels in America, The Food Chain. She's a member of Circle X Theatre Co. in Los Angeles where she recently received an LA Weekly award for the world premiere musical Laura Comstock's Bag Punching Dog. TV/Film credits include: Without A Trace, Charmed, Inconceivable, Love is in the Air and Evelyn's Awakening. Michaela received her BFA from Boston University. Thanks to her mum.

STEPHEN M. ZABLOTNY is the Technical Director at the Vineyard Playhouse. Steve has worked with theaters in Philadelphia, summer stock at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse and a national touring company. Steve and his wife Peggy work together in their design firm, Z Studio, specializing in museum exhibitions and graphics.

The Vineyard Playhouse is a Constituent of

the national organization for American theatre.

Ingredients for Bara Brith:
(amounts of each are secret family traditions)
Soak Sugar and dried fruit in cold black tea overnight
Add flour, mixed spices (coriander/nutmeg/cinnamon/ginger/cloves),
marmalade, lard, and an egg
Bake at 350 in loaf pan until firm(about one and a half hours)
Allow to cool a day before cutting.
Serve plain, with butter, or glazed with honey.

A few Welsh-isms:
