 Laptop questions
By no_idea on Thursday, February 6, 2003 4:47 AM EST

i was after some advice for some friends who are planning on doing a lot of sailing.
they want to take a Laptop with them to do email, web browsing and some database stuff (stock market).
as they will be away from mains power and in a hostile environment for extended lenghts of time they are unsure what to get and neither am i.

battery longevity would be good and so would a sturdy design.

are the transmeta laptops as good as the hype?  is thier battery length better?  would they stand up to a boat environment?

the other thing which crossed my mind was the IBM toughbooks (i think).  i assume they would be up to handling the environment but what is the battery time like?

EDIT. panasonic did them.

thanx in advance for your help  :)
