3DO SHIPS MIGHT AND MAGIC® IX

The epic, award-winning role-playing series enters a new dimension

REDWOOD CITY, CA - (March 28, 2002) - The 3DO Company (Nasdaq: THDO) today announced that the Might and Magic IX game has shipped to retailers throughout North America. Developed by New World Computing®, a division of 3DO, Might and Magic IX is the latest game in the best-selling line which has sold over 4.5 million units worldwide and has been translated into over 12 languages.

This time around, players will be able to experience the award-winning medieval world of Might and Magic in full 3D with the all-new LithTech™ development system. But although the technology is new, the Might and Magic IX game remains true to the rich storytelling tradition that has been a hallmark of the series since its inception. Players will enjoy hours of in-depth, classic role-playing with 10 massive regions to explore and over 65 quests as they lead a party of adventurers to save their homeland. The game features several refinements, including an all-new conversation system, improved spell combat and skill systems, and over 100 new and smarter monsters to battle.

"With this game our goal was to create an experience that felt comfortably familiar yet still unlike any Might and Magic before," says Jon Van Caneghem, founder of New World Computing, and creator of the Might and Magic universe. "This isn't your daddy's Might and Magic game."

The adventure begins when you and your shipwrecked party meet a strange woman on the Isle of Ashes in the middle of the Verhoffin Sea. She tells you of the bloodthirsty Beldonian Horde that is poised to invade your peaceful homeland, Chedian, and that you must unite the six clans of Chedian to battle the oncoming threat from the West. The fate of the world rests in your hands.
