November 20,2001 - Cameron Gallion Update

The following is a letter from Cameron's mother, thanking you all for all that you have done:

November 2001

Dear Sevendust & Coal Chamber Fans:

Our family has long appreciated the mystical powers of music. Music has always filled our lives, but ever since Sevendust and Coal Chamber brought us under their wings, it has become a source of healing. Thanks to the huge hearts of Rayna and Morgan Rose, thousands of kind 'strangers' have entered our lives, aware of Cameron's fight for his life. Since Cameron's story was first told on the bands' websites, we have received hundreds of messages - many more than we can possibly answer, even though we'd like to respond to each and every one. Please know that we are reading all of your emails, cards and letters, and feeling the power of your thoughts. We have learned that Sevendust and Coal Chamber fans are remarkable people. We feel better about this world knowing that there are people like you out there who take time from your busy lives to communicate your love. Your amazing insights, prayers, positive thoughts, kind offers and sincerity fill us with inspiration and hope. Cameron has a boundless world of friends who are truly lifting him up.

We haven't had the pleasure of meeting all of the Coal Chamber band members, but we appreciate their willingness to share Cameron's story. We have been fortunate enough to be able to hang around with the guys in Sevendust and can vouch for their genuine compassion and thoughtfulness. They have many gifts to share in addition to their musical talents. Their families and industry personnel reflect the band members' caring attitudes. Cameron was invited to be a part of Sevendust's "Praise" video shoot. It was an experience of a lifetime. When you watch "Praise" on MTV, right after Morgan sings "Afraid to open up your eyes," look for a kid in a black shirt (surrounded by pretty girls), with both arms raised in an ecstatic cheer (click HERE to see pic). That's Cameron! By the way, we've heard the song about a hundred times and we still like it! We wish Sevendust lots of good fortune - they deserve it. And best of luck to Coal Chamber, too.

We want to thank all of you FANS out there for being the lifeblood of these talented bands. It's so cool... what music can do... how songs come from writers' hearts and minds, reach thousands of people and draw them into special circles, and then the circles makes ripples that touch more and more lives. During our difficult struggle, those circles have embraced us and we are very grateful.

Peace & Love,

Susan (Flip & Cameron) Gallion

October 21,2001 - Sunday Afternoon

Wanted to say hello to all the fans. We are a few days away from finishing mixing one of the greatest albums of all time, and with all humbleness, I must say Salvation will live up to its title. Once again we have stepped out of the box. All the members are fine and we're beginning to gear up for what will be a virtual onslaught of Coal Chamber on the music scene. Look for the release in February or March.

These are exciting times for Coal Chamber and Coal Chamber fans. I must also say from my heart on the industry side of things, now having Island Records involved with Roadrunner and Universal (the greatly respected distribution company behind Coal Chamber), we are looking forward to climbing mountains.

With all respect,

- Dez Fafara

September 28, 2001 - THE MONDAY MIX

Though the mixing of Dark Days was originally slated to start on Monday (09/24), it has been pushed back one week. This past Friday Dez hit the studio for a couple hours to finish up a few last lines. "It's not right till it's right," Dez tells.

Well, word is that now it's right. Mixing will now start this Monday (10/01), and will take probably take somewhere between 2 - 2 1/2 weeks.

In the meantime, know that the art for Dark Days is currently being worked. Accordingly, with the development of the art, this website will be increasing over the next few weeks...keep a look out...the presence is only going to heighten

September 18, 2001 - RECORDING OF DARK DAYS COMPLETE

The album is done! In one week, we will start mixing DARK DAYS, with Ross Hogarth heading the effort...can't wait to start. Meegs, Mike and myself (Dez) will be in and out everyday checking the mixes.

Right now, I've been finishing up all the artwork for the album and it's coming together well. We should be rolling out some of the new artwork onto the site here within the next 2 weeks. Please remember to keep posting names and email addresses for the street team.

And keep checking back, what you are going to see over the next couple months is a website developing right before your eyes.

September 14, 2001 - IN REMEMBRANCE

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the souls of those who were lost this week. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families, friends and everyone who's lives were touched by this heinous act. Together, as Americans and citizens of the world, we will overcome this tragedy and prevail, but will never forget those who paid the highest price for freedom.

August 29, 2001 - THE LATEST FROM THE STUDIO

Milestones of the day - Today is Meeg's last day recording guitar tracks. Dez will be hitting the studio today with the guys from Motograter to lay some motograter on the music. Not absolute which tracks, but you'll probably hear this 'motograter' sound on 2 tracks.

Tomorrow Dez will be doing the vocals for a track titled "Rowboat" - the chorus goes "get out of my rowboat'. As Dez tells, "it should be pretty easy to figure out what I'm talking about."

Last day recording at Rumbo Studios looks to be to be next Wednesday or Thursday. "We'll be glad to put this to rest and give it to the fans." Of course, then mixing will need to be done.

August 13, 2001 - MONDAY MORNING MESSAGE FROM DEZ

Monday morning. Just walked in the studio, Chris is kind enough to type this in for me. Can't wait to start singing today, we're doing a song called "Fiendish". The chorus is "Fiend for the fans and fodder for the press". I'm waiting on Ross (producer) right now, he usually walks in around this time, 12:30pm.

I wanna leave a message for anyone who wants to be intimately part of the DARK DAYS release. Post your name and email (see FORUMS 'Enroll Here' topic) and our street team will contact you directly to let you know how you can help.

I put a bunch of monster masks all over Ross' part of the studio. Huge, polyurethane, full zip-up devil heads with horns and all. Can't wait to see Ross' face. Until later, thank you.

-Dez

August 03, 2001 - A NOTE ABOUT THIS SITE

Real quick, just to let you know...We have noticed a bunch of you commenting in the message board about the depth of this site. Know that this is simply an interim site, not what is to be the final Coal Chamber site. We just wanted to get up something new so you are all aware of our upcoming release, Dark Days. We put up a news section so we can let you know exactly what is going on, and a message board so you can still speak your mind. Know that with the new artwork being created, new photos to be taken, and everything new that is going on, a new COAL CHAMBER website with all the detail is also in the works...

August 03, 2001 - RETURN TO THE MAKING OF DARK DAYS

Meegs started up in the studio again yesterday (08/02) for the final guitar work, Dez starts up again on Monday (08/06) to finish the vocal tracks. Also, Mikey will be coming in during this time to finish up some final drum touches....all parties are excited to get back to work....

Keep noticing the word 'final'? Coal Chamber's 3rd release Dark Days is coming...

July 18, 2001 - COAL CHAMBER ON 2 WEEK BREAK

Coal Chamber is currently on a 2 week break from the studio. They will start up again with the recording of their upcoming Dark Days LP on August 4th. All that is left is finishing up the vocals and doing some guitar overdubs. The band plans on finishing that up within three weeks.
