((Independant RP accunt for a human who mysteriously got fused with a Vulpix, in a Pokemon AU with a Shin Megami Tensei bent. Also, crossovers welcome.))
I figured it was a while since I expanded on the world, so I’ll do some of that.
Today’s topic will be Junctioning. Junctioning is the act of quickly summoning and unsummoning a Pokemon. It bears a great resemblance to Personas from SMT:Persona, or Stands from Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure.
Mechanically speaking, a trainer must declare what Pokemon they have junctioned before combat. Junctioning allows a Trainer to use a Pokemon’s moves as though they knew them, which is important, because the ability to do so is relegated mostly to Psychics.
However, these moves run off of the Trainer’s stats rather than the Pokemon’s stats, and if they take more than ¾ of the Pokemon’s HP in damage, then the Junction is broken.
The Trainer also gains the types of the Junctioned Pokemon.
“W-well, I wouldn’t be very lost if I knew where I was, huh?”
“Uh, but I suppose I can try and guess? Let’s see…I appear to be at some kinda shrine…Ecruteak?” He said, naming another location the miko had never heard of.
“Hm…?” She tried to raise herself up using the tip of her toes. “Is there somebody there…?”
Somebody was running up the stairs, they were clearly running. As they got closer, Reimu could start to make out the appearance of whoever was heading up the stairs.
A youkai…? She grasped onto her exorcism stick with one hand and held it behind her. She didn’t know what the youkai was heading here for, but she wanted to be ready.
“A…shrine?” The hybrid wondered to himself, slowing his pace as he got to the top of the stairs. He looked around, as his ears remained folded against his head in unease. However, his ears perked up when he saw a human dressed in red and white. He was mentally excited for someone to talk to after all those small winged creatures kept attacking him. He approached the Hakurei Miko, which almost any common youkai would consider suicide. Though he remained a good meter or two away from her, he spoke up meekly:
“E-Excuse me, miss…but do you know which way Pallet Town is?”
The chills of pre-winter swept over the vast land of Gensokyo, a small layer of snow covered the grounds of the Hakurei Shrine. This snow did not deter a one Reimu Hakurei in her daily routine of sweeping the path in front of the shrine proper. What wasn’t part of her daily routine, however, was a visitor that matched none of the usual suspects.
A boy, who looked no younger than sixteen began approaching the shrine. It was fairly easy for anyone to see he wasn’t human, what with his six, crimson, curly tails, and a pair of fox-like ears on his head., and pupil-less, amber eyes that almost make him look possessed. Though, he looked incredibly lost. His demeanor didn’t match commonly expected behaviours of youkai, either. He seemed…scared. Of just about everything. That, and no sane youkai would willingly visit a shrine because they were lost. (Though, the definition of sane caries from youkai to youkai.) He appeared to be consulting a strange box on his wrist, growing steadily more frustrated with a lack of GPS data.
At any rate, he’s still making his way up. Better get his attention before he runs into something.
Emerging out of a nearby forest, Maxew found himself faced with a giant plain that was most certainly NOT the entrance to Viridian City. It wasn’t the first time he ended up places that did not match his knowledge of Kanto as he flipped open a grey box on his wrist, his COMP. Max then activated the GPS and, surely enough, it read “NO SIGNAL”, due to the satellites he was trying to connect to not existing.
While he continued to type on the wrist-mounted computer, he didn’t noticed that he was watched by Palutena’s best angel (by virtue of being Palutena’s only angel) who was in the town mentioned in the titlecard, on business known only to him, as the hybrid came into Pit’s view. The clothing Maxew wore looked nothing that neither the celestial nor moral beings wore around this area, along with six curly, crimson tails and two fox-like ears on his head, colured differently than his shoulder-length hair, and a red scarf that flapped endlessly in the wind that didn’t exist.
Either way, he looks pretty lost, along with out of place. Though he doesn’t look quite human, that’s never stopped Pit in the past, right?
After looking around and examining the area, his ears twitching as he spotted the boy. Well, he wasn’t sure if this was normal for this world or not, but he had to know more about where things were than the nekomata. “Excuse me!” He called, trotting over. “Could you, perhaps, tell me where I am?”
“Hn?” The hybrid grunted as he turned around to the blue haired man, and his ears unconsciously drooped as the man cleared him by almost a half foot and appeared to have more mass than him. That is, he looked like a twig by comparison.
“O-Oh, y-you’re in Viridian Forest, sir.” His amber eyes which didn’t appear to have any pupils scanned the nekomata.
It was a cool day in Viridian Forest. Summer gave way to Fall, as a large amount of trees were the kind that didn’t lose leaves, and made the forest retain it’s lush green. In the middle of all of this nature’s splendor was a one Jason Taggart. In his recent world-hopping escapades, he arrived at the forest in question, which seemed to have a number of creatures that could quickly be identified as Pokemon. However, what came into his view was certainly not inclusive to the groups that he expected to encounter.
Despite the fact that only normal humans and Pokemon were stated to exist here, a boy, who appears too young to even be out of high school yet, is walking off the beaten path of the forest. He had a pair of fox-like ears on top of his head, along with six, curled, crimson tails that came out his backside, waving idly in the wind. He had a golfclub attached at his side, not unlike a katana, a tan pouch on his waist, and a strange, white box on his wrist.
At any rate, he seems like he knows his way around the forest, and is probably a good idea to ask for directions…maybe.
“Nope, Alchemy’s as real as the fur on my tails, although it’s nothing like the myths would suggest, and there’s at least 3 variants, the most prevalent involves turning the emotion of desire into a power source.”
“And no, I’m not a vulpix, you see I’m a kitsune from another universe all together.” she explains and stretches a bit. “It took me years of training to earn my title…other kitsunes focus on other elements, like my older sister Shira and her manipulation of sound magic." she explains while holding her head back in her hands.
"Power of desire, huh…”
“Though…there are more like you? And can do more than just having the power of fire…Interesting..I wish I could say the same thing about myself. On both accounts. It’s a long story.”
He seems pretty puzzled by the kitsunes in general.
“The pleasure’s all mine, Mr. Vulpes, thank you for taking the time to guide me.” she says and bows politely for a moment.
“Chemist as in Chemistry right? That modern science said to be more "Real” than Alchemy? That’s interesting, I’m the Myobu of Fire, the best of the Kitsune Pyromancers.“
The hybrid gave the kitsune a strange look.
"Really? I always though alchemy was a myth. Though, things thought as myths or flights of fancy have come to surface in the past…”
“Though…a pyromancer, eh? My powers are kinda like that. Are you some kind of Shiny Vulpix?”
Oddly enough, the same assumptions she had made about him was almost mirrored by him, though his theory was contradicted by a lot more evidence.
“More lost than you’d believe…but you must be too?” she explains, afterward posing a question, it was obvious she believed him to be a red haired kitsune himself. She sighs rubbing the back of her head. “Maybe you’re headed the same way? I’m Jo Inarison.”
“Me? Lost?”
“No, I live in this forest. And, well, come to think of it, I was kinda running low on frozen food at my house…I’d be willing to guide you to Viridian City, Ms. Inarison.”
I wonder if her father is named Inari...
“Anyway, I may as well introduce myself.” He made a small bow to the kitsune, a traditional sign of respect and whatnot, “I am Maxew Vulpes, Head Chemist at Oak Pokemon Laboratories.” His tone changed from being absolutely terrified of her to rather charismatic. At any rate, he seemed to be rather proud of his title…
The kitsune sighed as she looked around. At the very least when she wandered through a portal this time, she knew what the world she wandered into was. She wasn’t the biggest pokemon fan, but she could recognize a caterpie or a weedle.
She blinks a bit as she notices the body, before walking up to him.
“Hello there!” she greeted.
“You wouldn’t happen to know where the closest town is would you?" she knew a portal wouldn’t be there, but what she did know is she needed to buy some milk damn it! Every time she’s tried going to the store she’s ended up wandering into another world and it had really started getting on her nerves.
"O-Oh?” He seemed to be mildly startled at the blond kitsune talking to him, despite approaching him from the front, in complete view of him. Like many he seemed to encounter, she seemed to be lost. A not unsurprising fact to him.
“Uh, well, we’re currently on the south side of the forest, so Viridian City would be the closest.” The hybrid’s pupil-less eyes scanned the kitsune, his gaze hovering around her tails and her ears, with an expression like he’s look at something alien. Something like that.
“A-ah-Are you lost?” He seemed to be scared of the kitsune, his whole body shivering in fear, despite her not provoking these feelings in the slightest.
While it was entirely unclear what brought the kitsune to the heavily forested part of a completely different world, the matter of the fact was that she was in it. Various fantastical creatures that barely match a predefined schema of animals seemed to line the ground, as she caught a glance at a most peculiar individual.
On an initial glance he seemed to be a kitsune, not unlike she was, however, his crimson furred, six curled tails cast doubt on that theory. Amber irises seemed to scan the surroundings as the boy (he looked like a boy no older than 16, or whatever the equivalent of that is for kitsune). He seemed to be sporting some strange equipment, with a golfclub attached at his side, not unlike one would sheathe a sword, a large, brown pouch on his hip, that the faint sound of liquid could be heard from, a strange, white box strapped to his arm, and a red scarf that blew in the cold, fall breeze that the T-shirt he’s wearing is really unsuited for.
At any rate, he seems to know where he is, so he might be able to point the kitsune in the right direction.
Rinnosuke was at his usual seat, as always. Reading a book to pass the time. When the boy came in, the shopkeeper’s eyes were directed to the person. ‘What a strange attire for this kind of season.’ He thought to himself. “Welcome to Kourind- Hey…”
“Oi, stop right th-” Before he could finish, the other had already made contact with the wall. Standing up from his seat, he sets the book he had aside. Attending to this one comes first.
“Humghpft!” And so face met wall. apparently, his pace was so brisk that he knocked himself on the floor, along with that red, feathered hat of his.
He sprawled out on the floor, in some sort of agony. He didn’t seem to hit it that hard, but Maxew has a really low pain tolerance. Anyway, admits the confusion was two fox-like ears that made themselves visible to the shopkeeper, not unlike some kitsune youkai. The boy held his head where he made contact with the wall, not noticing the owner of the building he was in at all.
