Once you start thinking about humans as a species in a biome, it affects your entire way of looking at normal things.

The other day I referred to female morning joggers as an ‘indicator species’ in that if you see women jogging in the dark it means that the environment provides migration pathways (sidewalks, clear signs) and doesn’t have any known predators of female morning joggers (guy with knife, bear, BigTruck, male morning joggers).

Though, I think that people consider framing humans as animals reacting to their environment as rude.

It’s ok if you didn’t know, but now you do, and luckily there are some things you can do about it, like growing your own food!

i mean. No, I can’t. Part of the reason we oppress people into this system is that shit like coffee, cacao, vanilla, avocados, mangos, sugarcane, etc cannot be grown in most parts of Euro-America. And even if my microclimate WAS right for any of those crops, I don’t have the time, energy, or expertise to turn them into the delicious food i currently take for granted.

The solution is to properly compensate the people growing it, accept that in many parts of the world it will just be an expensive luxury, and learn to cherish what is native and local to you. Oh, and work to dismantle global capitalism and imperialism.
