Subhash Venugopalan reposted thisSubhash Venugopalan reposted thisA more personal post than usual. This is my mum. The top photo, New Year’s Eve in 2009. She was full of life - funny, colourful, sharp, stubborn, warm, and completely herself. In the years that followed, dementia slowly took more and more of her away. It is a cruel disease, not only because of what it takes from the person, but because of what it asks families to witness. Mum died in June 2024. The last thing she said to me was: “Please come and see me again.” I said: “Of course I will, Mum. I love you.” That was the last time I spoke to her. This year I’m raising money for Alzheimer’s Society, through the Saucony 10K in July and the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October. I’m doing it in Mum’s memory, and for every family living with dementia, supporting someone with dementia, or grieving someone they slowly lost before they finally had to say goodbye. Any support would be genuinely appreciated. If you are able to donate, thank you. If not, a message, a share, or simply a bit of encouragement would mean a lot too. Dementia is cruel, but it does not get the final word. Thank you. Gary If you are able to support Alzheimer’s Society, my fundraising page is here: https://lnkd.in/eYJAPsss

Subhash Venugopalan reposted thisSubhash Venugopalan reposted thisMCP is getting so good! Most developers think MCP is just another tool calling standard, but that’s just scratching the surface. Here's what makes MCP powerful (explained with examples): Unlike simple tool calling, MCP creates a two-way communication between your AI apps and servers. Let me break down the 6 core primitives that make this possible: Starting with the client! A client offers 3 capabilities: sampling, roots, and elicitation. 1️⃣ Sampling: The server can ask the client to generate LLM completions, but the client still controls permissions and safety. Example: A travel server asks the LLM to pick the best flight from a list. 2️⃣ Roots: Clients define what files the server can access. Secure, sandboxed, and scoped. Example: A server for booking travel may be given access to a specific directory, from which it can read a user’s calendar. 3️⃣ Elicitations Servers can request user input mid-task, in a structured way. Example: A server booking travel may ask for the user’s preferences on airplane seats, room type or their contact number to finalise a booking. Moving on, let's talk about the MCP server now. Serve also exposes 3 capabilities: tools, resources, and prompts 4️⃣ Tools Controlled by the model, tools are functions that do things: write to DBs, trigger logic, send emails, etc. Examples: - search flights - send messages - create calendar events 5️⃣ Resources Controlled by the app, resources are the passive, read-only data like files, calendar, KBs, APIs. Examples: - retrieve docs - read calendars - access knowledge bases 6️⃣ Prompts Controlled by the user, prompts are pre-built instruction templates that guide how the LLM uses tools/resources. Examples: - plan a vacation - draft an email - summarize my meetings 👉 If you're interested in learning more about MCP, let me know in the comments. I've created an illustrated guidebook with over 11 projects, along with a YouTube playlist for those who prefer videos. _____ That's a wrap! If you found it insightful, reshare with your network. Subhash Venugopalan reposted thisSubhash Venugopalan reposted thisDevelopers think Microservices will make their life easier. Well, this is not true 👇 Here's what devs imagine microservices will bring: - Faster deployments - Faster releases - Fewer bugs - Independent teams - Sounds cool on your resume But here's what actually happens: - Managing 100+ repositories - Distributed transactions issues - Strong consistency challenges - Saga & compensation complexity - Debugging across many services - Event-driven architecture complexities - Service communication overhead - Handling failures - Monitoring multiple services - Logging across different systems - Deployment coordination complexities - Version compatibility headaches - Increased network latency - Data synchronization problems - Configuration management complexities - Difficult troubleshooting - Security between services - Complex local development setup - Load balancing challenges - Harder team alignment Microservices are powerful — but only if used in the right place. Do every project need microservices? Probably most of the projects don't need them. The complexity in microservices doesn't disappear; it just scales to another dimension. Remember, it's always great to start with a Modular Monolith and scale to microservices as needed. The best microservices are born from a Modular Monolith. Subhash Venugopalan reposted thisI have worked with Pawanjit Singh Ghatora, we were team mates for a brief stint but that was more than enough to know how good a person he is. Our support matters for him and his family. Please join hands. #supportPawanjitSubhash Venugopalan reposted thisI don’t post much on social media, but I need your help to support an incredible person, Pawanjit Singh Ghatora (PSG). I first met Pawanjit in 2020, just before COVID, when I was joining 2degrees. He was the first person to reach out and welcome me, quickly finding common ground as we had both spent time in #Sweden. That’s who Pawanjit is—warm, kind, and always making others feel welcomed & valued. Over the next couple of years, I watched and supported Pawanjit through one of the toughest times in his life. When borders closed, he was separated from his wife and daughter, missing precious moments as his little girl grew up over Skype (remember Skype? 😂). He endured countless false starts, heartbreak over delayed visa approvals, and years of longing to reunite his family. Finally, in 2022, his dream came true. His family was here. They recently purchased their first home in Te Atatū, and life was everything he had worked so hard for. Until February 1st, 2025. That day, while out for a walk with his elderly father, Pawanjit was hit by an out-of-control vehicle and pinned against a power pole. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but despite doctors’ efforts, he lost his right leg above the knee. Now, he needs us. Pawanjit is one of the most genuine, kind, and sincere people I have ever met. He lifts others up, and now it’s our turn to lift him up. If you had the chance to meet him, you’d understand the positive impact he has on everyone around him. 💙 Please donate if you can—every little bit helps! 💙 Share this post to help us spread the word. Let’s help Pawanjit and his family get through this. He would do the same for us. #SupportPawanjit #StrongerTogether 💙A Man with a Big Heart That Never Stops Giving — Now He Needs UsA Man with a Big Heart That Never Stops Giving — Now He Needs Us

Subhash Venugopalan reposted thisSubhash Venugopalan reposted thisThe Agentic AI: What’s Under the Hood? -Think of Agentic AI like a tech stack designed to power autonomous systems. It has three main layers: 1️⃣Data Fabric for AI – The foundation. This ensures AI agents get access to well-structured and relevant data, so they don’t make decisions in the dark. 2️⃣AI Agents – The brains of the operation. These are the digital workers that take action, make decisions, and interact with their environment. 3️⃣Automation – The execution layer. This allows AI agents to coordinate complex workflows, ensuring everything runs smoothly without constant oversight. 🔥If you are a leader looking for more practical guidance, check this executive Course by top AI educators/practitioners. https://bit.ly/4gdSEn4 -What Makes Agentic AI So Smart? For an AI agent to function properly, it needs more than just raw processing power—it needs intelligence, adaptability, and decision-making abilities. That’s where these key components come in: Planning Algorithms – AI agents set goals, develop strategies, and plan out actions instead of just reacting to inputs. Reinforcement Learning – They learn from experience, improving their decision-making over time through trial and error. Decision-Making Frameworks – These help AI choose the best course of action when faced with uncertainty. Multi-Agent Architectures – Sometimes, one AI isn’t enough. Multi-agent systems allow several AI agents to collaborate to solve bigger challenges. Feedback Loops – AI agents assess their own performance and adjust accordingly, making them smarter over time. Put all these together, and you have AI that thinks, learns, and acts with minimal human intervention. -Where Do We See Agentic AI in Action? This isn’t just futuristic sci-fi. Agentic AI is already making waves in: 🚗 Autonomous Vehicles – AI-powered systems that can navigate and make real-time driving decisions. 🤖 Robotics – Robots in manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics that can operate independently. 💰 Finance – AI handling algorithmic trading, fraud detection, and financial advisory services without human input. 📞 Customer Service – Intelligent AI agents that don’t just answer questions but solve problems and take action for users. -Challenges: Ensuring Reliability – These AI systems need to be consistent and error-free in critical environments. Safety Concerns – How do we make sure autonomous AI doesn’t make harmful decisions? Ethical Implications – What happens when AI starts making decisions that impact humans on a large scale? 👉 Introducing The No-Code Tool for Effortless Data Migration and CDC: https://bit.ly/4jN8Q1b Image: Pavan Belagatti SingleStore

Subhash Venugopalan liked thisSubhash Venugopalan liked thisIf resumes had a graveyard, it would be called “LinkedIn Jobs” Day 2/180: Let’s talk about LinkedIn Jobs. For the last few months, I’ve applied to hundreds of jobs through LinkedIn. Different roles. Different companies. Each time, I customized my resume, tweaked the keywords, wrote that perfect cover letter… and hit Apply. Then silence. No call. No reply. Not even a rejection. At first, I thought - maybe it’s me. Maybe I need to try harder. But here’s the truth I’ve learned: 90-95% of hiring happens through referrals. The remaining 5-10% trickles in from direct company portals or platforms like Naukri. LinkedIn Jobs, for most people, is just an illusion of effort - it feels productive but rarely moves the needle. So if you’re job hunting right now, stop wasting your time hitting “Easy Apply.” Instead: 1. Reach out to people inside the company, through LinkedIn or friends. 2. Build genuine connections. 3. Ask for referrals. 4. Keep your Naukri profile active and updated. That’s how real opportunities happen. The game isn’t about applying - it’s about being seen. What’s your experience been like with LinkedIn Jobs? Has anyone here actually landed a solid role through it? I’d love to hear your story. #LinkedInJobs #jobhunt

Subhash Venugopalan liked thisSubhash Venugopalan liked thisDirector: You’ve submitted 'Exceeds Expectations' for four out of your six senior engineers. The HR bell-curve strictly permits only one 'Top Performer' rating per team. You need to force-rank two of them down to 'Meets Expectations' and put at least one on 'Needs Improvement'. Manager: Sir, this team migrated our entire legacy core banking module two weeks ahead of schedule with zero downtime, saving our enterprise client from a major SLA penalty. Every single one of them exceeded their targets. Director: The bell-curve is a non-negotiable global mandate. If everyone is rated top-tier on paper, the distribution looks broken to HR. Pick two names to drop. Manager: Which metric should I tell them they failed on? Do I penalize the architect who fixed the production Sev-1 outage at 2:00 AM on a Sunday, or the QA lead who caught the critical compliance bug before the external audit? Director: Just find a soft-skill reason. Write in their review that they need 'better executive presence' or 'more proactive stakeholder management.' Just fit the curve. Manager: So when the project was burning, their technical excellence was 100% measurable. But now that it’s appraisal time, their rating depends on manufactured flaws just to balance an HR spreadsheet? Director: You’ve been in the industry for 15 years; you know how corporate calibration works. It’s about budget distribution, not personal feelings. Manager: In 15 years, I’ve seen exactly where this leads. When leadership forces managers to fabricate weaknesses to justify budget caps, you don't calibrate performance—you manufacture cynicism. The moment you tell star performers their real output doesn't matter because a quota says otherwise, you aren't saving payroll; you're just handing them a reason to update their LinkedIn profiles. The Lesson: A forced bell curve on a genuinely high-performing team is not performance management—it is operational self-sabotage. When companies grade talent against arbitrary quotas rather than delivered business impact, they don't fix the bottom 10% but they lose their top 20%. Grateful to Richard Lobo Mohit Joshi Amol Phadke Harshul Asnani & Narayan Pant for this wonderful opportunity. Subhash Venugopalan liked thisSubhash Venugopalan liked thisFour weeks ago the United Kingdom made history. For the first time — a dedicated Minister for Artificial Intelligence was elevated to Cabinet level. Kanishka Narayan. Born in Bihar, India. Raised in Cardiff, Wales. MP since 2024. Now the person responsible for shaping Britain's AI strategy at the highest level of government. His words on the appointment: "AI is likely the most significant technology in human history. Nations have a narrow window to decide whether they shape AI or get shaped by it. Britain is in that window right now." That is not a press release. That is a conviction. Episode 01 of my new series — Britain's AI Decade — breaks down who Kanishka Narayan actually is, what he genuinely believes, and whether the system around him is configured to let him deliver. → The constitutional distinction between attending Cabinet and sitting in Cabinet — and why it matters → His candour on AI and jobs — "Britain missed much of the last technology revolution" → The PM AI Taskforce he now leads — and what it could become → The honest structural challenge nobody is talking about 7 minutes. For anyone engaged in Proptech I'd highly recommend listening to this insightful conversation between Alex Edds and Saminder (Sammy) Pahal A few highlights: - There appears to be a shift away from siloed dashboards towards real estate companies owning and shaping their own tech stack, so Proptech's ability to integrate with existing systems is key - There is now a high volume of available data, so the focus is on being selective and fixing the pipes to enable a consolidated workflow (collect data > analyse > synthesise > produce output in actionable format) - Defining the value of a Proptech solution starts with the traditional consultative approach of properly understanding where pain is being felt throughout the web of stakeholders involved in operating buildings It gives me comfort that here at epx we're on the right track as we continue to leverage accurate and auditable data and translate this into actionable insights for our Customers. Looking forward to the next pod, Alex Edds!
