🔋 From coal mine to clean energy powerhouse. We are officially breaking ground on the 400MWh Heinersbrück GridBattery—our second major energy storage project with LEAG. What makes this project unique is its role in Germany’s coal phase-out. Positioned in the Lusatian region, the system co-locates battery storage with two types of renewable generation. By connecting wind, solar, and storage to a single grid point, this former mining site is being transformed into a highly efficient, modern clean energy hub. Powered by our modular, high-density Fluence Smartstack™ technology, Heinersbrück will flexibly capture surplus renewable electricity, relieve demand pressure, and strengthen Germany’s energy security. This adds to our strong track record in Germany, where we have contracted or deployed 35 projects with a cumulative capacity of over 6 GWh.
