99.99% of rap haters have never even listened to rap. or if they have it's like one gangsta rap song & they treat the genre as a monolith and act like it's representative of every rap song ever. and well of course they are also just racist
first & last line still stand even if rap was a monolith and all rap was gangsta rap. btw
Rap is great! Everyone knows the worst genre of music is country
99.99% of country haters have never even listened to country. or if they have it's like one post-9/11 pop country song by a rich poser & they treat the genre as a monolith and act like it's representative of every country song ever. and well of course they are also just classist

In a better world Satoshi Kon would get the level of praise Miyazaki gets but unfortunately Kon's works don't appeal to the "young witch in the alps solving the mystery of her neighbor's missing cat" crowd so we're fucked I guess
Genuinely I wish film circles discussed his work more and treated his death as the tragedy that it is. Losing him at age 46 was an enormous loss.

piracy is the only thing saving us from a digital dark age
In 2017, a group of people in Chicago, decided to open a library/community center at Blood Fruit Printworks in Bridgeport. Since then, Blood Fruit Library has evolved and migrated across neighborhoods in order to work together with varying neighbors and friends. As always, we are committed to sharing and preserving the words of those we agree and, inevitably, disagree with who have published their own thoughts for our reflection. We believe these written words can serve as a jumping off point for our own discussions with others, helping us build networks of affinity. We invite you to share your own favorite readings with the library (be they in the form of pamphlets, zines, books, digital articles, posters), so that we are learning and sharing together. Although, we are amoebic in nature - moving, shape-shifting, and changing as we respond to the world around us, we continue our efforts to always offer a tangible "place" in addition to the books. We don't want another atomized pocket of learning through isolated book-reading. We want to always combine book sharing with human connection. A book is just a book. Let's meet, talk, connect, plan together.
✨Help Bloodfruit Library/Yolotl get through the winter! This space, ever transitioning from radical place to place in Chicago has held many people people, ideas, events and histories. ✨The space is in a commercial building and the gas bills are hundreds of dollars every month (on top of rent and other utilities!). With the cold snap in chicago it’s pertinent that we be able to keep on the heat on. Please consider subscribing to our Patreon or donating to the Venmo! Both links in bio.
From the new location of Bloodfruit we create linoprints of solidarity and send them across made-up borders to a couple of searching brigades/ family collectives of forcibly disappeared persons in Mexico. We also send messages of solidarity to comrades in that fight when they face hard times, to let them know that here in so-called Chicago we are thinking of them, that all of our worlds are wrapped up together, that our liberation is bound up together. We are still going strong as a donation point for unhoused neighbors and gatherings for folks, and are excited to be soon offering zines of the month, spanish classes, translations of texts, reading clubs, radical movies, workshops, and more. If you have any asks and/or offerings that can bring community together, please reach out to us, this is a space for you. Of course the anarchist books and zines in our collection have grown and are still available! Open hours currently are Fridays from 7-10pm in Rogers Park. Direct message us on instagram (@bloodfruitlib) for the address! See you soon!
Hi everyone!
Please check out one of the long-standing anarchist projects my friends have been holding down in so-called "Chicago"; they've recently restarted their patreon because living expenses have been staggering lately. They do amazing work in spreading the anarchist message and communicating with comrades across international borders while always also helping an eye on local events, themselves being a host of a truly free anarchist library that has everything from writings from the Situationalist International to Zapatista Carocoles to Afro-Pessimisim to Kurdish revolutionaries; it's an invaluable cultural hub of anarchic culture.
You can give a one-off donation of whatever amount but the patreon starts at 5$; at 10$ you'll receive a free PDF zine per month and at 15$ we'll also send a print copy.
Please consider spreading and contributing to this project.

i think what gets me about AC6 is the naked CONTEMPT it has towards the student pilot and everything he represents.
he shares a VERY exclusive position with the final boss as having a mission dedicated to killing him, and only him. there are no other ACs, no MTs, not even a small obstacle course to jump around in. the second the mission starts, you arrive at his position and are given the objective to kill him. removed from the context of AC6, the mission actually starts to feel a bit strange. because if this tester AC is so damn important, why arent there any guards? why isnt it defended?
why isnt the AC being piloted by... i dont know, G13 Macquarie?
the answer is that Armored Core VI fucking DESPISES the Student Pilot. everything he represents deserves to die. its this strange holier-than-thou protagonist attitude he has. "I can't die to a merc who kills for credits!" the fact that he seems to believe there is some intrinsic difference between killing for corporations or killing for pure cash is very telling, both of his actual experience and of his idiotic worldview.
So many amazing counters! Fantastic match all around!

I actually know this one!
There's a traditional coconut farming technique in Thailand where they send monkeys into the trees to pick the coconuts. This is like a traditional centuries old thing that doesn't hurt the monkeys at all. Since Thailand is in asia, animal rights groups have been focusing on it the last few years as some kind of issue even though if a monkey doesn't want to do something there's nothing you can really do to make it do that because it's a monkey.
Nonetheless racist "animal rights" groups go around discussing it as though it's slavery or a labour rights issue. Personally I think they're being paid by people who get coconuts some other way but I can't prove anything.
Anyway, it's basically MSG again in that it catches on because of anti-asian stereotyping and none of the allegations are true or really even make sense when you look at them. Animal labour in agriculture is really well-established. That's where we get the term "horsepower". Because horses were doing the. The power. But there are no monkeys in Europe so Europeans didn't do that so it's an evil rights issue.
We domesticate animals and use them for labour. Big if true.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Like. As far as I can tell the monkeys in question are macaques, which... Yeah you're not getting a macaque, the monkey known primarily for attacking humans, to do anything it doesn't want to do, especially through violence. They use violence to establish dominance and that's a battle the macaque will always win. This npr article says every couple of trees the monkeys get inspected for ants and a little massage, and every other link in the search I did was from PETA, so. Yeah pretty sure the monkeys are fine.
For those interested in a bit more nuance, recent primatology welfare review *not* done by PETA (all animale welfare scientists hate PETA booo), but also not an uwu utopia and surveys actual subsistence farmers working with macaques:
tl;dr
-macaques were physically healthy, and were not sick or injured
-mental wellbeing was less good, and appropriate housing and training methods have been highlighted as an area of improvement
-the most common problem was aggression towards humans, both to owners and people around
-aside from the whole 'what are the ethics of a traditional farming method that uses a now endangered species caught in the wild?', the really pressing problem is more how to improve welfare knowledge so 1, people just trying to earn a living don't get murked by a macaque and 2, macaques don't end up fully neurotic
(for those without access, sci-hub wink wink)

We're at "traffic tickets are justification for disappearing people off the street and sending them to death camps with no due process" levels of fascism now.
Okay yeah we're like fucked, fucked.
i made a grindr and in under 24 hours i got the most insane unsolicited nude to ever exist. hes fully nude on the beach and in his right hand is a black tipped reef shark i could not make this shit up if i tried
artistic rendition
i fucking wish i had a way to prove this but a) passing around nudes is wrong even when its a 40 year old nudist shark freak and b) he unsent the messages bc my silence made him nervous ig. wish he was instead nervous about sharks around his panenis but im not his dad
btw another pic in the set he sent me was essentially the same photo but the shark was a fishing spear and his penis was erect this time. do you think he meant it as a metaphor thats kind of poignant symbolism
he looked almost regal in a florida man way
actually fuck do you guys think i ghosted Poseidon on grindr be honest its hurricane season and im on the gulf i mean did you SEE what that guy did to odysseus
More details from the article below. Amazing. Thanks for posting, OP.

"The French far-right leader Marine Le Pen has railed against a Paris court’s “political decision” to bar her from competing for the presidency in 2027, attacking the move to ban her from running for public office as “a denial of democracy”.
In a day of high political drama, Le Pen was found guilty of embezzlement of European parliament funds on a vast scale, a conviction for which she was also handed a four-year prison sentence, with two of those years suspended and two to be served outside jail with an electronic bracelet. She was also ordered to pay a €100,000 (£84,000) fine.
A furious Le Pen announced she would lodge an appeal against the ruling, as nationalist and populist figures from around the world rushed to support her.
Donald Trump said the conviction was a “very big deal”.
“I know all about it, and a lot of people thought she wasn’t going to be convicted of anything,” the US president told reporters at the White House. “But she was banned for running for five years, and she’s the leading candidate. That sounds like this country, that sounds very much like this country,” Trump said, in an apparent reference to legal cases that Trump himself faced before he took office.
Elon Musk, Tesla’s billionaire owner, who has backed the far right in Germany and plays a major role in Trump’s administration, said the sentence against Le Pen would “backfire, like the legal attacks against president Trump”.
The judges’ decision, backed by more than 150 pages of legal justifications after a nine-week trial, was necessary because nobody was entitled to “immunity in violation of the rule of law”, the head judge, Bénédicte de Perthuis, said.
It was nonetheless considered a political earthquake in France as Le Pen had hoped to mount a fourth campaign to become president for her anti-immigration National Rally (RN) party...
The RN, the single largest party in the French parliament, called the sentence a travesty.
The president of the RN, Jordan Bardella, 29, who could be considered a replacement presidential candidate despite his relative inexperience, said: “Today it is not only Marine Le Pen who was unjustly condemned: French democracy was killed.” ...
The ban on running for public office, to last five years, was ordered to kick in with immediate effect, meaning it will apply even though Le Pen, 56, is appealing against the verdict.
Neither the prison penalty nor fine will be applied until her appeals are exhausted, a process that could take years.
In the front row of the court, Le Pen showed no immediate reaction when the judge declared her guilty. But she grew more agitated and shook her head in disagreement as the judge said her party had illegally used European funds for its own benefit...
Before Monday’s ruling, she had considered the 2027 presidential race as her best chance to gain more ground on an anti-immigration platform, while her opponents attacked her party’s policy platform as racist, xenophobic and anti-Islam.
Le Pen and 24 party members, including nine former members of the European parliament and their 12 parliamentary assistants, were found guilty of a vast scheme over many years to embezzle European parliament funds, by using money earmarked for European parliament assistants to instead pay party workers in France.
The so-called fake jobs system covered parliamentary assistant contracts between 2004 and 2016, and was unprecedented in scale and duration, causing losses of €4.5m (£3.8m) to European taxpayer funds. Assistants paid by the European parliament must work directly on Strasbourg parliamentary matters, which the judges found had not been the case.
Le Pen will be able to retain her current post as a member of the French parliament for Pas-de-Calais, but will not be able to stand again in a future parliamentary election for the duration of her ban on running for office...
She renamed the party National Rally in 2018, wanting it to be viewed as a potential governing force, not just a protest movement, and has run for president three times, twice making it to the final run-off against Emmanuel Macron.
In 2022, Le Pen provided the far right with its highest-ever tally in a French presidential election, winning more than 13m votes.
An Ifop poll published by the Journal du Dimanche newspaper this weekend found Le Pen could have won 34-37% in the first round of the next presidential election and her fate in the run-off second round would depend on whether all her opponents united to vote against her.
The party will now have to decide who would take her place in the next French presidential race. Bardella, a member of the European parliament, is popular among voters but is seen as having little experience."
