my wife and i like to torture each other when we lay down for bed at night by tickling or poking each other. as a deterrent we’ve created an entity called “The Bird” which will attack you as a way to show we’re no longer comfortable with whatevers happening. we’ll say “The Bird is coming” or “The Bird is going to get you” instead of “hey stop doing that” then we peck each other with our hands. here’s a visual to help

I just learned yesterday that Pikachu, my favorite Pokemon, was originally designed not by Ken Sugimori (he only finalized the design), but by a female graphic designer named Atsuko Nishida.

Also after googling her, I found out that she’s also designed Sylveon–another favorite PKMN of mine. She’s also illustrated some very pretty Pokemon cards!!

Thank you Ms. Nishida! :-) May you get more credit and love for your contribution to the Pokemon franchise.

as a camera shy person myself, knowing she hides behind plushies is just amazing

Her and Yoko Taro are legends at hiding from cameras. xD

Here’s some other Pokemon she’s designed, for anyone curious:

and not to derail this post into anything overtly political, but: If it weren’t for a woman in the gaming industry, we wouldn’t have freakin’ Charizard. I feel like that’s something more people should know about!

oooh lilligant and minccino/cinccino are some of my favorites :D

there's something uncomfortable about western millennials/gen z's deep obsession with watering Studio Ghibli movies down into "wholesome bean comfort flicks aesthetic uwu japan" when half of these people completely miss the point of these films and the complex nuanced topics they deal with, especially when it comes to post war Japan.

wolfertinger666

i don't think these people watched princess mononoke.

i don't think that movie gives me comfort aesthetic vibes. at all.

✨ why does studio Ghibli food look so good ✨

real talk we need to talk about general Americans especially white Americans and how they cannot process or comprehend non white media without watering down its roots tied to its racial background and in turn make it marketable and easier to consume for themselves.

the swears that non-native-english-speakers come up with are absolutely fantastic sometimes. my friend just said “she is fuck as shit” instead of “she is fucking shit” and now i cant stop saying things are fuck as shit. the weather is fuck as shit. my homework is fuck as shit. phenomenal.

also "all billionaires are like this" I am fully aware that Bill Gates is infamously a creepy and unpleasant individual but he also has spent most of the last couple of decades earnestly trying to get rid of malaria. having that amount of money is a huge structural failure and, again, he is infamously a terrible guy to be around, but it didn't turn him into a neonazi. this is not a 1:1 correlation. we really have to accept this when considering how best to dismantle billionaire influence from society. there are actually quite important differences between elon and, like, warren buffett

kurganfilledwithbearbones

yes, a lot of rich people are really weird and out of touch and either ignorant of or hyperaware of their power in a way that makes them evil, but if that was not also the case for non-rich people, kamala would have won indiana

#didn’t he also try to capitalize off of privatizing the distribution of the Covid vaccine?#I admit he’s better because he’s trying to like get rid of his money as he gets older#but that’s a whole lot of capital to control

Sweetheart this is a literal right-wing conspiracy theory that you are repeating. He said in a press conference that a $10 billion investment in vaccines gives a general return on investment in economic and social benefits of about $200 billion, or 1-20. This does not mean "Bill Gates personally makes 20x his initial investment in vaccine distribution markets," it means "the global economic benefits of providing free vaccines outweigh the costs, which is why he encourages vaccine distribution"

If your principled anticapitalism is repeating r/insanepeoplefacebook talking points, it is not a good strand of principled anticapitalism!
