India's cricket journey has seen significant success following their runner-up finish in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The team secured victories in both the T20 World Cup in 2024 and the Champions Trophy in 2025.
Their performance in recent ICC tournaments has been remarkable, winning 23 out of 24 matches. Their only defeat came against Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Having played just three ODIs last year, India are now scheduled for 27 matches leading up to the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The upcoming schedule begins with a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh away from home in August-September 2025, following the IPL and England Test tour.

India will then face Australia in a three-match ODI series during October-November 2025, after the Asia Cup T20 tournament.
The team will conclude 2025 with a three-match home series against South Africa in November-December.
January 2026 will see India hosting New Zealand for three ODIs, their first encounter since the Champions Trophy final in Dubai.
After co-hosting the T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka and the IPL season, India will play their first-ever bilateral ODI series against Afghanistan at home in June 2026.
The team will return to England in July 2026 for three ODIs and five T20Is, following their Test tour from the previous year.

India's schedule continues with a home series against West Indies in September-October 2026.
A second encounter with New Zealand is scheduled for October-December 2026, this time as an away series.

The preparation for the 2027 World Cup will conclude with a home series against Sri Lanka in January 2027. India will aim to overcome their previous 0-2 defeat from 2024.
The 2027 World Cup will be hosted jointly by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia later that year.
