You can customize how Gemini Apps respond to you if you add instructions. For example, you could create instructions so that Gemini would always:
- Start responses with a short summary.
- Use bullet points for long paragraphs.
- Remember preferences, facts, or custom instructions so you don't have to repeat information.
What you need
To add instructions for Gemini Apps, you need to:
- Sign in with a personal Google Account. This feature isn’t available when you sign in to a work, school, or supervised Google Account. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.
Important: For now, this feature is:
- Only available in the Gemini mobile app, the Gemini web app at gemini.google.com, and Gemini in Chrome (in countries where Gemini in Chrome is available).
- Not available in certain features, like Gems or Live chats.
Add your instructions for Gemini
Important: Instructions for Gemini to forget or avoid topics in chats doesn’t always work perfectly. To make sure Gemini stops mentioning a topic, delete any chats about it from your Gemini Apps Activity.
