if you don't mind, can you draw some isafrin angst as a request? I love your art btw!
Ohhhh, you want Isafrin angst? I'll give you Isafrin angst.
Yknow what I LOVE about the Star Trek fandom? It’s ANCIENT. I had a talk with a nice old lady at the old persons home that my great grandma is in and she noticed my Spock shirt and was like “oh I love that show I thought the premise was lovely” and you all know THE PREMISE is trekspeak for spirk and I was like “do you accept the premise because I do” and she looked at me with the eyes of someone who is reliving their otp moments and she said “the premise is all I wrote about, dear” and we just talked about spirk for a hella long time and I just love how age doesn’t matter in this fandom you can be ninety and still be the biggest spirk bitch ever how rad is that
I was today years old when I learned that particular euphemism
I was also today years old. Fandom codes man
Reblogging to spread knowledge about the Premise, because I absolutely love that bit of fandom, and I want to make sure that it survives. (and yay to everyone who is part of today’s 10,000!)
The reason it was called “The Premise” was plausible deniability. Because homosexuality was still criminalized then, and admitting to shipping a couple fictional dudes together could get you in serious trouble if you said it to the wrong person, but fans wanted to be able to find each other, and discuss their fandom in semi-public spaces safely. And so, “The Premise” became code. If someone didn’t know the code, they’d assume you’re talking about the literal premise of the show (that is, the idea that humans will have faster-than-light space travel in the future and travel around meeting aliens and having adventures), and respond accordingly.
It’s exactly the same concept as how, if you tell some random person who doesn’t tumblr that you like their shoelaces, they’ll be like “uh, thanks?” and then you know they don’t tumblr while they also have not been informed that YOU tumblr. But if they respond “thanks, I stole them from the president”… you both know. Except with higher social stakes for making sure you aren’t outing yourself as a Spirk shipper to the wrong person. It’s fine NOW of course, but it wasn’t always.
I am a simple woman. I see Star Trek content, I reblog.
bonus point for The Premise very plausibly sounding like a trek ep title
i just really really really love how act 6 sif gets back some of their act 1/2 whimsy like being all :P and exclamation marks in narration. but some things from act 3/4 also remain like him still not echoing the birds going piou piou anymore and the battle sprites resembling the act 3/4 ones more. it's just. mmmmmngh big fan of it 👍
mirabelle scug doodle, from this post :]
@basicallyagremlinlol @spiritandfun @althe1st @skallyeen tagging people who wanted to see this[ i think?] :]
I want a non-human whumpee so bad it hurts. But like whumpee with a tail to be dragged by, and they tuck it between their legs when they're scared. A whumpee with horns or antlers (I'm feeling antlers icl) 🥺 majestic wings to be bound or clipped, or again, curled up defensively.
Might need to make me a cute new lil whumpee 🥰
Also, the tail is most likely connected to the spine so pulling on it can (And probably will) cause severe damage :D
hey, writers. especially neurodivergent writers with anxiety or OCD.
if you see one of those writing advice posts that is literally just, ‘these tropes suck’, ‘this story idea sucks’, ‘this sucks’, ‘that sucks’, ‘all of this is horrible’.. don’t dwell on it.
these are just random people on the internet, okay? they’re just acting like they know everything and that their personal preferences are universal.
you don’t have to listen to them, write whatever you want, regardless of if dirtysocks574774757 on Tumblr/Pinterest doesn’t like it.
(ahem, if a user by the name of dirtysocks574774757 from Tumblr or Pinterest actually does see this.. sorry 😅 i’m sure you understand)
(sadistic whumper vibes)
[guys I have been gone for a while bc of bad life events but I'm coming back soon]
Random Thoughts
You know, I feel like I always say in my head while I’m on any social platform that like, “oh, we’re all adults here. I can talk about this stuff and maybe get serious responses.” Then I take a few seconds to let it settle in and then I realize… “wait, we’re not all adults here. It’s the internet so there’s bound to be kids who see this account or any other whump blogs without us knowing.”
It’s kind of weird to think about. It makes me think twice whenever I want to talk about certain sensitive topics either in my writing or post in a drawing, because what kid is seeing it too? Right? I know I can’t exactly stop anyone from having an electronic or having unrestricted privileges, but it still makes me hesitate sometimes to post NSFW content knowing that there might be a kid seeing it and I’m feeding into their innocence being taken away.
When I say kid, I’m not really thinking about 16+, I don’t know, I think I was pretty corrupted by then myself, so in my head you should probably already know a lot about the world and make most of your own decisions with some coherency. [Not that you aren’t still a kid, because you are]. But anything below that, maybe just wait a little longer before you start becoming too obsessed with anything NSFW related. From someone who has consumed whump since forever, it can mess with your head until you really understand the difference between reality and fiction, even if the fiction is based on reality. I’ve noticed that especially recently, it’s been harder for children today to separate fiction and reality. Social media at an early age doesn’t help.
I’m also not saying that minors can’t understand serious topics. I know they’re just as capable of understanding it to a degree, even so far as to experience them. And it might be a way to cope hearing or seeing other content that is similar to what they’re going through so they don’t feel alone. Just want to put this out there for those who are very blissfully unaware of the worlds horrors, maybe just keep it that way while you can.
So anyway, just wanted to get that out there. I won’t restrict anyone from viewing content on my pages, mainly because I can’t really, but I will properly label them as best I can for TW content. If you still choose to view it and you’re a minor then it’s up to you. You’re safe to react or reply here if you want to, but just be careful around other parts of the internet. Don’t get sucked down a rabbit hole that’s going to corrupt your life too early on. Sometimes, ignorance is sweet while it lasts.
I need more books/shows where the original villain works for someone far more powerful than them who's rarely seen at first, but then when the villain disappoints their boss one too many times, they're punished for their failures in excess and locked away for a long time, only to later be found by the protagonist and begrudgingly rescued
I will also accept cases where the villain straight up vanishes for a while, but turns up later in a cell somewhere
The book series endling by Katherine Applegate (if the author has done some atrocity I do not know that I'm sorry) does this at one point, can't explain that much because spoilers but the villain does not get a happy ending
There's also a lot more angst besides that, so a good recommendation in general in my book :D
downpour brought new life to the fandom, but it also brought prudish 13-14 year olds that are visibly offended when they learn RW's devs endorsed catboy pebbles. Like. They didn't expect the giant community that was made in 2017 to have any sexual material?
Micro vent aside, ty for providing the weird side of the community with a platform to speak on. Now we can all sit here in peace and discuss whether rivulet should be shipped away to the specimen storehouse
you're welcome! the answer is yes btw, that specimen is sure a specimen. send 'em to the storage!
but also, I'd like you to keep in mind, that despite the fact we all wish it so, the 'prudish 13-14 year olds'
don't actually exist. I mean they do, but in reality alot of these fucks are adults or almost adults. age does not equal maturity.
age is sadly, just a number used to gauge someone's relative maturity, when in reality maturity is a mixture of knowledge, trauma, and just simply having to exist in society.
it's helpful, however
anyone is susceptible to propaganda, and anyone is susceptible to fascism.
by limiting certain ideas to specific age demographics you forget that not only can people never learn, they can also learn bad habits or concepts.
the satanic panic for example, was not children. it was adults. all of it was adults.
it's an important idea to remember. anyone is susceptible to harmful ideas or ideologies. even you, even me.
that being said rainworld's devs are amazing and it sucks that a bunch of people freaked out at catboy pebbles.
