🐛 Hammerhead worms 🐛
all of them vicious predators and also many of them have little black eyespots but you can barely see them because they’re typically on the very edges of the hammer head just like a shark!!
ALSO you can see on this one where it got broken once and grew back!! Where the stripes are misaligned!!

Found in the American southwest, this species of bee fly is thought to mimic a jumping spider to deter predation. The false eyes are a modified scutellum (part of the thorax) and not real, functional eyes.

undescribed ballinae species
this spider measures 3mm and was found in the mount coke state forest, south africa. not much else is known about the species and it remains undescribed since these photos were taken in 2014.

we have an exciting update on this adorable species!! as of the 31st of december 2020, this spider now has a scientific name of its own after 7 years of being unnamed.

Cimbex americanus, larvae and adult
Sawfly larvae are easily distinguished from caterpillars by their large, round, smooth head with two distinct eyes, and many more sets of prolegs (fleshy false legs on the back end used for locomotion) compared to caterpillars.
