How bad is it that part of me is glad Blitzcrank didn't show up in Arcane for the sole, petty reason that I suspect they'd have given his creation to someone who wasn't Viktor?

YOU KNOW WHAT. YOU'RE RIGHT.

Could you imagine if they shoehorned it in as a long-lost creation of Stanwick Paddidly I would have lost my shit

Avatar

And its kind of sad Blitcrank didn't get into the show. Because had the show kept the "Arcane in a neutral force" narrative of S1. Blitzcrank could of been a great addition to the story.

Picture this instead of Jayce using the hex core to heal Viktor at the start of S2. The Hexcore connection to Viktor allows it to gradually heal him even when he's not near it. And so he has small glimpse of the Arcane and Sky here and there but nothing big as he was in S2.

(We can also have ep.1 of S2 be an act in of itself). Where Vi has more time to question becoming an Enforcer. I also think we could have an interesting confrontation between Viktor and Vi about the usage of weapons. However this comes to a turn when "The memorial attack comes about" (Maddie protects Jayce during the memorial) and so push comes to shove Vi needs Viktor's help to get to the lab and fix up her gauntlets (Which gives us more hints of his connections to the Arcane thanks to the Hex-core).

And from here this has Ambessa have Rictus become the personal body guard of Jayce. And Viktor give's the Ok for Jayce to build weapons for the strike team he assembled.

And from here Viktor and Jayce recognized how bad it has gotten in Zaun if Violence was the thing that needed to solve the problem. (We also have Jayce reflecting how the women is the mom of the kid he killed). And so they decided that they need to refocus their efforts on giving Hex-tech the people. And so decide to invent something that will help rebuild the under-city. And Viktor got an idea of what that can be after he sensed the arcane coursing through Vi's Gauntlets.

Hence forth they go and create Blitzcrank.

And while Viktor is dealing with making Blitzcrank and having him continue his legacy when he is gone, on top of dealing with the grief of Sky's death as he reads more of her journal and as he try's to follow her wishes. Jayce is focused on helping Mel rebuild the Council while at the same time preventing Ambessa from obtaining more power. However he is still manipulated by her. On top of that he is trying his best to find a way to break the Hexcore, however hits a roadblock whenever he try's to break it he harms Viktor. And so he has to deal with Viktors life now being in his hands.

However things come ahead when Caitlyn starts using the Grey (This time around its not the first thing she do's but rather something she do's later on.) This prompts Viktor take action with Blitcrank to try and solve the mess. And here he is trying to create a legacy for himself by using Blitcrank here. And in Viktor dies. And here with all of the pressure from both Ambessa and Viktor, Jayce uses the hex-core to cure Viktor. Which has Viktor build a much deeper connection to the Arcane (We also get a flashback to him and Sky interacting again, this time their in their tweens).

However as Viktor is in the cocoon, a lot of people believe it to be that Jayce made Blitzcrank. Leaving Viktor's legacy in Jayce's shadow once more. On top of Jayce going in making more Hex-tech weapons. So he sends Blitzcrank to leave so that he doesn't become and weapon allow for him to choose his own fate.

“Why does the show always portray elves and dragons as being in the right?” It literally doesn’t. While the main villains in arc one were humans, overall the majority of villainous characters are Xadian. In fact, most Xadian characters are antagonistic when they’re introduced (including those who go on to be heroic main characters, such as Rayla and Janai) with only a few exceptions! Arc two goes even further with this by introducing elf characters who are either perfectly okay with dark magic or even use it themselves. I’m convinced we’re not watching the same show.

A lot of this comes down to how the show frames "Dark Magic" the tool that humans use to wield magic. The show never try's to paint the usage of dark magic as anything but "Bad". And that is was bad that humans ever tried to use it. And that the elves splitting up humans from the rest of Xadia "was" a good thing.

Hi, I hope you're doing well. ❤️ I'm writing to you with full of hope to help me and my family. My family is in a very danger situation due to the ongoing war, and I've launched a GoFundMe campaign to save them. 😢 Could you please share my campaign post from my profile? What Strength Really Means 💪

Hey everyone, my name is Abdelmajed. I don’t usually talk much about myself, but today, I want to share a little piece of my story.

I was born and raised in Gaza, a place that has always been my home 🏡. I grew up surrounded by my family, my friends, and the streets that I knew like the back of my hand. Life wasn’t always easy, but we had love, laughter, and dreams. I used to think that no matter what happened, home would always be here. But life has a way of changing things in ways we never expect.

Over the past months, everything I once knew has disappeared. The streets that were once filled with children playing are now silent. The houses that held so many memories are now just rubble. And the people I loved—some of them are gone forever. 💔

the writers room was literally just linke, yee, and overton. oh my God.

No wonder it all sucked. No wonder it was just fanservice. No fucking wonder it was all so simplistic and dissonant from s1 in the same way their fucking interviews and AMA statements were

because it was literally Just Them

Holy fuck. Oh my god im going to collapse. linke and overton kept doing all the public facing shit ad subsequently receivng all the praise but the substance of s1 was LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE. and all those people got thanos snapped for season 2. yeah, covid, sure, but that only explains it, doesn't excuse it.

oh my god. oh my fucking god.

I

I need a minute jesus christ fhendhdnshhdhs

I feel like this is such a disingenuous outlook. To act like all the other writers (A lot of which you don't even name or mention). Because there is no real dichotomy between of "Good writer" "Bad writer". And that notion kind of blinds people to how a story comes together. For instance so many people claimed that "The Legend of Korra's" problems was that "Bryke" were hacks and it was Arron Ehaz who made the Avatar great. However when you look at Arron's own show "The Dragon Prince" he fumbled the bag so badly.

Also looking over the AMV's and Interviews they do match up with the show at hand.

Because no S2 problem wasn't "Fanservice". In fact I would argue that its trying to be more ambitious then anything.

The problem has been that S2 is just trying to accomplish too much. Arcane S2 had the story of 3 to four seasons crammed into it.

You can have issue with S2 all you want. However one thing I don't hold is acting like 'The other writers" were the one's responsible.

Here's a video that better explains the issue.

how do you go on to drawing character interactions without them looking stiff or awkward?? whenever u draw characters like hugging and stuff they always feel so warm and natural n like they have weight!

Avatar

FIRST THINGS FIRST: if you want characters to feel like they have weight, they gotta have balance.

The second thing is to use references!! Use a mirror or photos when you can, but I often use duckduckgo and just google stock images. I don't use pinterest, but I suppose that works. I find it way more helpful to look at lots of images of the same pose at all different angles than to try to reference one specific image.

Bro absolutely COOKED with this.

If you ever hear the phrase "fascism is aesthetics as politics," that's what this post is talking about.

It's not about being tough on crime, because the absolute toughest most brutal measure you could take against "crime" as a social problem is to alleviate poverty, and increase access to education, healthcare and social mobility.

It's about performing "tough on crime" as an aesthetic by enacting violence against a prop, i.e. minorities and the impoverished, who are fetishized and objectified to represent "crime." They are brutalized as punishment for crime, but never with the purpose of alleviating the problem of crime.

This is why a lot of conservatives and other right wingers can get straight up angry when you suggest things like reform or social measures to reduce crime. They don't want crime to be reduced, they want an eternal war against "crime" because it provides an arena for the righteous to demonstrate virtue by brutalizing their enemies.

i genuienly don't understand the arcane S2 hate like why are people suddenly saying how bad the writers messed it up

imo it was one of the greatest shows ever, one thing i kinda missed was a Sevika backstory (the fact that she didn't even had a line in act 3?!!) and more info about pitfighter Vi and how she ended up there but that's really it

and ofc i'm sad that the main sisters didn't get a happy ending but i enjoy tragic stories so there's that

People having very specific expectations and hyper-fixation on how they wanted the plot to go and the characters to develop so they can't appreciate what we actually got.

Here's the thing if you enjoyed S2 good for you. I'm glad that you enjoyed this season. However to act like that people with this season was that "The show didn't meet their expectations" is disingenuous . Because the complaints people have with S2 is that it rushes through what should of been 3-4 seasons of story. A lot of plot beats often get ignored or never brought up again. The ballooning of stakes. The introduction of "Multiverse hopping and time-loops". This season just did too much.

On top of that the show simplifies so much of the conflict between characters. Vi and Jinx get to resolve their issues without acknowledging the hurt between them. And they only got together because of Vander (who is just reduced to a plot device this season.)

So yes there are legit criticisms towards S2.

hey in case you didn't know trans inclusive terminology in healthcare is not about protecting peoples feelings, it's to stop insurance companies from going "well it says here that hysterectomies are a procedure performed on WOMEN and you keep insisting that you're a MAN so we do not in fact have to cover that have a nice day and eat shit"

It also exists so that if, say, you have a situation with an underdeveloped, nearly nonexistent uterus but also an ovary that has a giant cyst, nobody can say, "You have an intersex condition so you are not technically a woman and we can't cover ovarian surgery for not-a-woman, happy peritonitis to you when that sucker explodes lol"

it disturbs me that a significant number of people think that the issue with sexual violence, gendered violence, and misogyny is sexual desire rather than dehumanization, so they are relentlessly suspicious of others' (and their own) desires while simultaneously never at all interrogating others' (and their own) dehumanizing beliefs about other people, both within and outside of sexual contexts

Sexual violence has as much to do with sexual desire as beating someone with a rolling pin has to do with baking an apple pie.

I think Riot Games overestimated how popular of a villain Viktor would be in arcane season 2. They made cheapnasty reworks to all of Viktor's skins to make him look more like Arcane Viktor. Not only are the skin reworks considerably poorer quality than the originals, but I don't think any Viktor fan in the world - Arcane or LoL - gives a shit about Arcane Machine God Viktor. If youre an Arcane fan you like human viktor and if youre a LoL fan you like Classic Machine God viktor. Nobody likes the arcane villain.

And this to me is very sad because I feel like there are some interesting aspects to "Arcane herald Viktor" from how his mask is just something that splits between his face. I also liked the song "The line" with his transformation into the Herald (baring Vander's memories being erased). I especially thought it was a chilling scene when Sky told Viktor that he won't care about any of this.

However he isn't really unique when you compared to the other characters in the world of "Rune-terra". He is essentially just another "Malzahar" a mage influenced by "The Void". And thats kind of disappointing because I feel like "The Machine herald" is more unique of a character.

And in all honesty I think there was a way to combine some of the aspects of "Arcane Viktor" and his original design as the "Machine Herald". I.e he becomes "The Hex-tech Herald". Where he augments people with Hex-tech parts.

ARCANE | Zaun Vs Piltover Battle Keyframe | Charles Lee

Right after the pilot episode of Arcane, before all of Season 1 had been fully written, there was a period where the team at Riot Games needed to prove to stakeholders that the story had long-term potential. At that time, we had just a few storyboard and concept artists supporting the showrunners and writers in bringing that vision to life. To help pitch future possibilities, we created a series of keyframe shots depicting major moments that could unfold later in the story. One of the writers’ favorite ideas was an epic battle between Piltover and Zaun, breaking out right at the bridge—complete with massive Hextech cannons built by Heimerdinger. Those were the days... unforgettable memories.

Can I just say that I'm glad it didn't come to this? So many people in the fandom say they wanted to see war break out (instead of Piltover and Zaun uniting against a common foe), but that would have flown in the face of Arcane's core messaging: Forgiveness, reconciliation, and the constant struggle to move forward, rather than being stuck in the past. It's easy to blame the Piltovan elites for all of Zaun's woes, but war tends to punish the innocent more than the guilty. The common people of both cities, who have no power to change a system which keeps them all rigidly in their caste, are the ones who'd be dying to satisfy your thirst for performative virtue signalling. Arcane doesn't pretend to solve these issues by the end and can only share the wisdom that even small steps are better than digging in your heels, which is so, so important.

Arcane really wasn't about "Reconcelliating or forgiveness. Its all about "Reconciling without proper acknowledgement and forgiveness without the work put into it.

For instance Vi and Jinx magically make up which undermines so much of their development in the first season. Jinx "Killed" people and Vi was committed to putting her down. And now suddenly because some people in Zaun look up to her she wants to be with Jinx again.

Vander drowned Silco and yet all it took for them to make amends is one letter. Which isn't even that good of a letter. On top of that how do's it change silco's mind. Silco saw Vanders violence as right of passage not some scarring moment. And he even was angry that Vander turned away from violence in S1.

Council: we're going to m!rder everyone in Zaun that we have to in order to catch Jinx

Caitlyn: wait no, a lot of innocent people will die if we do that. What about if me and a few others go in and find Jinx? We'll use the Grey specifically in areas where Jinx is, and it won't harm anyone, it's just to get Jinx to go out in the open so we can find her

Council: okay fine

--Caitlyn doesn't kill a single Zaunite the entire show unlike everyone else in the main cast besides Ekko. She immediately betrays Ambessa when she realizes that Ambessa is manipulating her grief to make her go along with violent plans. Then acknowledges that she was wrong for going along with Ambessa, admits that hated herself when she was so determined to find Jinx, FORGIVES Jinx for *kidnapping her, attempting to kill her multiple times, severely injuring her, and murdering her mom,* allows Vi to set Jinx free, and in the end gives up her seat on the Council to Sevika (showing that she never wanted power and knows that Zaun needs representation in government)--

Fandom: ...CAITLYN HATES ZAUNITES AND TRIED TO KILL THEM ALL!!!!!! SHE NEVER CARED ABOUT ANYONE ELSE!!!! ANYONE WHO LIKES HER IS A MONSTER!!!

|------» ~~~ «------|

reminder that you can disagree with Caitlyn's actions and still acknowledge both why she did them and that she worked to rectify them. as someone who's ancestors were actually g@ssed and killed... I literally cannot comprehend how people think that's the same thing as what Caitlyn did

Anyways! Quick rant!

Here's the issue with all of this though to act like "Caitlyn's plan went off without a hitch" is just lazy writing. Because simply "Aiming for the Chem-baron's" doesn't mean there wouldn't be harm. Because those same Baron's use child-labor in their buildings so their is the potentiality of kids getting harmed in the process. Look at Jayce and Vi's raid, they didn't intended to get a child killed however it still happened.

To a lot of people Caitlyn using the grey isn't the problem. Rather that this shouldn't of been the first choice that she made and instead she go's with the strike team first. And after many failed mission's "Then" she uses the Grey. That way the audience is able to get behind her actions a lot more.

On top of that the grey is a gas its something that can't be controlled so there is a lot of ramifications to Caitlyn using the grey that the show just ignores.

And from a narrative perspective this is all boring. Arcane is a show about how "Actions had consequences" were the characters choices had negative outcomes.

And there is so much juicy drama for instance. Instead of "Wild Runes" hurting Ekko's tree its "The Grey" that hurts the tree. We get to see Viktor's reaction to Caitlyn using the grey. We get hints of Singe's past with how his daughter was sickened by the grey.

All of this is something that should of been explored in a seasons worth of story. "Not" a montage.
