Bonds Unbroken is now available to all Members!

This supplement provides new guidance for planning and playing out Bond Break Episodes. These dramatic story beats are times when the PCs are challenged on a deep personal level—the fundamental partnership between Kid and Animon Characters is called into question as the two clash.

Bonds Unbroken identifies the key components that go into them, and offers new ways to track and handle them. In addition, new guidelines for creating and using Dark Evolutions are included.

Become a Ko-fi Member to gain access to Bonds Unbroken as well as over a year's worth of previous releases.

Echo Zones is now available to all Members!

This supplement introduces a new type of adventure location, strange pocket dimensions that appear at the boundary of the human and animon worlds. Though they may act as useful gateways between the worlds, as they grow larger and more powerful, they threaten the stability of reality!

Featuring guidelines and optional rules for the creation and use of Echo Zones, as well as a ready-to-use example zone.

Inventor Characters!

WotC won't put the Artificer in the SRD, so I'm writing my own Inventor class, with no spells, a martial focus, and the freedom to create unique innovative technologies.

Examples:

Paula Petril, a fireworker using combustion technology, brandishing a dragon torch firework 🔥

Fizzbe Gobblegoop, an alchemist using scrap technology to demonstrate a gruel dispenser gadget 🐌

Varsnip Felflame, a mechanist using soul technology, accompanied by a defender construct 👿

Gore Meatfist, an armourer using blood & bone technology, wearing a power armour and brandishing a sawblade gadget 🍖

The Icon for the Vessel was another of the long running characters of our group and a highlight for the game she was in. Sam really knocked the art out of the park for her.

Game Design and Art business news!

Backer surveys are out for Stone: A Dwarven Saga! Which was sent via Pledgebox, so if you backed it please double check your emails and junk folders for it!

Stone books have been ordered and should arrive early next week, while the 4 bonus prints as part of the stretch goal should arrive tomorrow (I'll take some pictures.)

I also ordered a reprint of Irezumi which will be in full colour this time as Mixam isn't just better quality and the previous printer but cheaper too.

And I've been hyper focusing and blowing through the development of WildSpace. Which is where the images are from. WildSpace in brief is a Sci-Fi adventure TTRPG inspired by pulp sci-fi, space operas and visually from the Star Fox video game franchise.

I'm also adding a couple more prints into my shop and convention rotation. I'll be taking pictures of those too when they arrive.

More WildSpace stuff!!!

So I've been hyperfocused on the 4th game writing it, doing art, messing around the layout for it. These are the 6 playable archetypes for the game! I've done a little playtesting but I really need to squeeze in some more.

What Archetype would you play as?

How to Find Cool Games: Newsletters

Plenty of game designers and other folks in the ttrpg space are using newsletters to keep people updated on their work. Newsletters are a great way to talk about what’s fascinating to you, give people snapshots of the things you’re working on, and offer links to freebies or extras for folks who are interested in your work. They also remind folks that you’re out there, making cool things.

I follow a number of different newsletters, and they offer different formats depending on their focus and the platform they use. But here’s what you can generally expect from a newsletter:

  • Updates on a designer’s work. Designers and small publishers will release updates on what they’re working on, including snapshots of works in progress, updates on crowdfunding initiatives, and pieces of art they may have recently finished or received.
  • Musings on aspects of design and play. Some game designers and prominent bloggers may release newsletters simply to talk about pieces of games that they’re excited about or ruminating on; how specific mechanics elicited special moments at the table, emotions or themes they’re hoping to invoke in their game projects, or perhaps talking about elements of a game book that make it interesting or enjoyable to read.
  • Reviews. This might be after playing a game or simply reading it, but interacting with other people’s games isn’t just a fun activity, it often also sparks thoughts about what the author values or doesn’t value in play. These reviews might include a brief overview of a game’s rules, highlight special moments in play, or cover more practical issues, such as the safety tools on offer, or the way the game layout affects their reading experience.

-Talking about the gaming hobby in general. This might include various perspectives in the hobby, like how colonialism affects steampunk games, or common experiences people of colour might have in a gaming space. It might also include safety practices and why the author finds certain practises helpful or unhelpful. There might also be ruminations on the business of game design, such as how to learn layout, how to network with artists, and advice on how to deal with the crowdfunding process.

So, with that in mind, let’s talk about some various newsletters that I’m subscribed to, and what I’ve gotten from them!

Did you know you could get a sneak peak at A Monster's Tail right now? That's right, there's a Quickstart out and available to everyone! Did you also know that it's free and you can get it anywhere you can get TTRPG PDFS? It's true! You can get it on itch.io: https://fivepointsgames.itch.io/a-monsters-tail-quickstart You can also get it on DrivethruRPG: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/494362/a-monster-s-tail-quickstart And if you're feeling generous, you could always leave us a review! Those really help us out!

Project Dragon was a game that was in development for 3 years only to be canceled weeks from its announcement and its entire art and development team laid off by the Phoenix Labs. The game (which would have been called 'Everhaven' upon release) was intended to be a multiplayer sandbox rpg taking inspiration from both Minecraft and Breath of the Wild, with an art style similar to that of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, which some of the team members also worked on along with Crash Bandicoot 4.

According to character design/illustrator Nicolas Kole "Our cancelled project of the last 3 years is officially, truly dead as of today (internal attempts to save it failed), and the embargo on the whole body of portfolio work has been lifted". This means that the only way the game has a chance of resuming development is by raising awareness and spreading the word of it's development. More info from Nicolas Kole and #BringBackProjectDragon Even if you're not interested in the game itself, you can find the concept art, animations, 3D models, music and all other completed pieces of work for the game being shared by the team at either of these links, and I think are worth checking out. Some mounts and NPCs

4 of the 5 playable starter races (5th being human of course)

Oca the ocarina golem not only had a 3D model ready to go, but also some animations and even his own theme!

Animations were created by Dave Huddleston who was also lead animator on both Crash Bandicoot 4 and Spyro Reignited.

Oca's Theme was done by, Cris Velasco, who has also created music for games such as God of War, Mass Effect, Bloodborne, Resident Evil, and several other well known franchises.

More and more amazing work continues to be shared by the dev team on X and I heavily encourage any interested to check it out and maybe share it with others, as well as the work of these two artists. More from the Project Dragon art team: Nicolas Kole Cami Airborne Studios None of this is my work and will be taken down at the request of the creators. I just want to spread awareness.

A little something just a reminder to keep going

Adora: Are you by any chance a Vistana looking for her long lost mentor?

GM, as Ezmeralda: Why do you ask?

Bow: I know this may sound weird, but this nice old lady saw our future in some cards and she said we needed your help to defeat Strahd

GM, as Ezmeralda: Then I’m exactly who you’re looking for. When do we leave?

Catra: Just like that? No crazy adventure to get you to leave with us?

GM, as Ezmeralda: I was just waiting for an excuse to leave anyway. Now tell me which cards she drew and I’ll see if I can divine something else

Catra: Is this love?

Catra: Adora, we are in a really though spot right now and if we don’t make it, I want you to know that I love you more than anyone in this world

Adora:….JULIA!

Julia: What?

Carmen: What?

Catra: WHAT?

Adora: Marry us!

GM: I told you, you don’t get inspiration from Pirates of the Caribbean references
