I would like to again big up libraries as safe spaces for people of all types!

I had a psychotic episode in my local library while I was in there working and had convinced myself that I was in a bubble dimension and if I left the library I would die, and that being what had happened to the librarian because I hadn't seen them in an hour (it's a small, local library. You can see the librarians desk from where I sit to work)

Now obviously they weren't dead, they were just in the little office that I couldn't see into.

I'm also lucky enough to be a very self aware psychotic, so I reached out to my support network to make sure I got home safely. But none of them could actually get me OUT of the library and I was still absolutely certain that if I stepped off the carpet and onto the tile, I would die.

So I got up, I made my way to the desk, I found the librarian and I said "I need your help. I'm having a psychotic episode and this is what I currently believe. Could you please come out from behind your desk and stand on the tiles so I can see it won't kill me?"

And they did. They didn't shame me, or laugh, or tell me it wasn't real. They said "Yeah, that must be scary." And thanked me when I admitted I'd thought them dead and been really upset about that because I liked them.

And then stood there on the tile, while I stood on the carpet, for ten minutes while I chatted shit and tried to build up my courage to step on the tile, just in case. Including telling me that if this happened again and I needed to call someone, to disregard the usual 'don't call people in the library' rule and just do so after I promised I was going to be calling my husband the second I was on the tile so he could safely walk me home.

(& so no one worries: my husband got me home safe, and a friend came to check on me a little while later and brought me food and I'm fully Cognizant and out of it now)

I cannot imagine another place where I could approach someone and say that and not get the police or an ambulance called on me. Neither of which I needed or would have been helpful.

I cannot imagine another place where a member of staff would stand somewhere for ten minutes to make sure I felt safe enough leaving.

I cannot imagine another place where I would not only be explicitly welcomed back, but be told "If this happens again here, disregard our normal rules to take care of yourself."

I cannot imagine another place on this earth that I would feel safe enough returning to, 3 days later, after an episode like that.

Libraries are a fucking Godssend and should be protected at all costs!

On Friday night, President Trump signed an executive order calling for the elimination of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)—the nation’s only federal agency that provides funds for America’s libraries. Americans have loved and relied on public, school, and academic libraries for generations. By eliminating the only federal agency dedicated to funding library services, the Trump Administration’s executive order is cutting off at the knees the most beloved and trusted of American institutions and the staff and services they offer, including early literacy development, summer reading programs for kids, high-speed internet access, employment assistance for job seekers, braille and talking books for people with visual impairments, and so much more.

What Can You Do?

As library lovers, your voice can make a difference. Here’s how you can help:

  1. Contact your representatives in Congress and tell them to protect our libraries. Our elected officials need to hear why we value our libraries. Share a story of how your library as helped you, and let them know that federal funding is essential for your library to continue providing the essential services that support our communities. Tell them to protect funding for IMLS!
  2. Show up for your library at library and school board meetings and town halls with your elected officials. Now is the time to raise our voices as loud as we can to protect libraries.
  3. Become a supporter of the American Library Association. Your support helps us advocate on behalf of libraries and library workers everywhere and fight for library funding.

I have just one question:Where are you?Where have you gone, people?I need just one answer.Today, I saw a small child, no older than a year, with an amputated leg.Yes… an amputated leg.I felt sorrow for him, but the first thought that struck me was:How does his mother feel? How can a mother bear to see her beloved child like this? And his only fault? That he was born in Gaza.

I write a lot because I’m afraid…Afraid that the phrase “The world forgot Gaza, and it died in silence” will take over me.So, I keep writing to you seeking a glimpse of hope, of light, of support.Do you know why?Because I am like a drowning person clinging to a straw. And that straw… is you. You, with your support, your sincere love, your humanity.

Please help a pregnant mother one who waited years to be blessed with a child.Help her… for you are the hope. Or paypal

I trust in your humanity...

it's so funny how tumblr rolls out updates because i keep seeing a slowly growing number of posts about how terrible it is but your tumblr is the same. it's like a slow going zombie apocalypse. there is no escape but for now you're alive

Urgent appeal to those with merciful hearts.🚨 I hope you will help me save my child from his serious illness, which may lead to the worst if we do not address the bad situation that he and my husband are going through, who is injured in this war.

I am Najah Al-Hila, married to Khaled Muqdad from Gaza City. I am a mother of four young children. My family consists of Waleed, 9 years old, Mira, 6 years old, Ahmed, and Mayar, 3 years old.

Ahmed suffered from head cramps and increased electricity after his birth. He was given medication and had blood tests done every two months to make sure his health was stable. He suffered from these cramps in 2021. My husband also suffered from liver and digestive system problems five years ago and is still suffering from these problems. Over time, my husband was injured during the war, which made things worse for him. We thank God for everything. Because of the instability and unavailability of the medication, we face difficulties in buying medications due to their high prices. Now life has become very difficult and the prices of medications have increased due to their scarcity. Things have become more difficult due to the lack of money and his expensive treatment, which has led to its unavailability due to money. I hope that all donors and supporters will not forget Ahmed and his father Khaled in alleviating their pain by providing the costs of his treatment and buying him the appropriate medicine and food. We also do not forget his brothers from the malnutrition they suffered from during this difficult period.

Please everyone pay attention, I have been away from you for a while due to my health condition. I hope this situation is taken seriously. My husband and children's lives are in grave danger, I hope you do not suffer what he suffered. May your children and loved ones be safe and sound. I hope you help in their treatment and that their condition, which has worsened over time, stabilizes. Save Khaled and Ahmed from this disease that has afflicted them, please. Help us.

Note: My husband Khaled was working as a teacher before the war and obtained a teaching certificate from Al-Aqsa University and became an Arabic language teacher, but he was not lucky enough to find a job, so he became a worker due to the poor economic situation we are going through. At the end of my talk, he became injured and unable to work in this current situation. I hope you do not forget this and take it into consideration that there is a mother who seeks to preserve her husband and children by fighting for them. Your support is a support for me in these critical moments that we are living in and we may not live due to the repeated attacks by the occupation and the failure to reach an agreement to end the war.

We are now living in dilapidated tents, my child and husband are suffering.

We can no longer provide the necessities of life. My family's future is completely destroyed. I can no longer live in Gaza. I want to leave the Strip and treat my child and husband, so I need $5,000 per person.

I hope that everyone who watches my story will help me.

To get out of Gaza and find treatment and a better life for my children and family.

I am asking for help, and I hope that you will help me and donate to me.

To save my life from death.

I hope that you will donate even $25-50, it would be wonderful.

This will save my child's life. My husband's life. Donate to help Ahmed and his father evacuate Gaza.

This powerful image captures the face of a wounded Palestinian woman whose hijab is soaked in blood—likely her own or that of a loved one. Her eyes tell a story of unimaginable pain and strength in the face of loss. She stands in a chaotic hospital hallway, surrounded by others in distress. As an oppressed and weak woman from Gaza, I see myself in her. I, too, have suffered greatly—my baby, Qais, was injured in the war, and the hospital refused to treat him because we cannot pay. Please, I beg you to help us. Your donation can provide the medicine and care Qais urgently needs.

1. I wait in line for two hours just to bring food back to our tent – food that is never enough.
2. I clean the shoes of strangers on the street– just to earn a few coins for Qais's medicine.
3. We were turned away from the hospital– they said no money, no treatment, even for a child as young as Qais.

I carry this pain in silence, but I cannot bear it alone anymore. The woman in this picture used her hijab to try and save her son’s life. I am doing everything I can to save mine. But without help, I fear I will lose him too. Please, Donate anything you can—no matter how small. Even a few dollars could mean a meal, a medicine dose, or a chance for Qais to live. Share this, speak up, and help us survive.

Pusher's Surveillance Scene, the Details

A few observations struck me, recently, in regards to Pusher's surveillance scene-- namely, that Vince Gilligan masterfully wove consequences and character beats into the subtlest details of even the quietest pauses.

THE SETUP

We open on Mulder calling the local payphone, eyes fixed intently on his objective. When that falls through, he hangs up, pivots to Scully-- who is sleeping on his shoulder-- and softly wakes her by brushing her cheek. When she bolts upright, he preemptively diffuses her tension with a smooth, "I think you drooled on me." Her reply ("Sorry") is short and relieved (and a little comedically self-conscious), and quickly jumps from the personal to the professional with a telling, "What time is it? No luck I take it?"-- which, in turn, gives Mulder the cue to fill her in.

This brief moment provides us with two telling details about both characters, and hands Modell a dangerously clairvoyant insight into Mulder and Scully's strengths and weaknesses.

why is shopping for computer shit so difficult like what the hell is 40 cunt thread chip 3000 processor with 32 florps of borps and a z12 yummy biscuits graphics drive 400102XXDRZ like ok um will it run my programmes

going to be honest i don't think making a joke about how the naming conventions of computer parts are kind of silly and counterintuitive really warrants this kind of response. like the original post isn't even about gender or being #justagirl. some of you have got to start thinking 'would i respond this way to a man talking about computers having goofy names'. liiike. i'm saying this as a fellow girlmath joke hater, i wish you'd never looked up what a keyboard was

I have literally won overclocking competitions. I have a massive computer hardware collection. I am amongst the foremost authorities on certain niche pc hardware bullshit that no-one cares about.

Let me tell you all, I am 100% with OP on this. What the hell is 40 cunt thread chip 3000 processor with 32 florps of borps?

Like the Ryzen 7 7736U is actually one generation older than the Ryzen 5 7640U, what are people supposed to do? You know which character indicates generation? It's the 3rd digit in the big 4-digit number! 7736U vs 7640U. Meanwhile there's a Ryzen 5 8640U and I genuinely can't remember if anything is different between that and the 7640U. But I'm like 80% sure the Ryzen 5 230 is exactly the same as the Ryzen 5 8640U.

And these are just AMD processors!

The Babs and Steph Oracle and Batgirl era was so fascinating in a way like you are in college, your mom is finally doing well and your relationship with her is improving. Then your best friend/situationship dumps Batgirl in your lap and leaves the country. You're not happy with this. Her own mom figure is not happy with this. She ends up mentoring you anyways. You actually start to form a bond. One of the smartest people in the world is now helping you fight crime and probably giving college advice too. You went from the most horrific high school experience possible including torture and literal death to having two adults you can actually sort of trust to have your back and a relatively happy daily life as a vigilante. And it only happened once you reached adulthood yourself. Never when you needed it most as a vulnerable child/teen without a single solid parental figure to rely on.

Like its wonderful that Steph got all that. She deserved it. But you can't tell me there wasn't a part of her that looked at Crystal and Babs sometimes and wondered: Why not sooner? Why did every adult in her life let her down back when she was actually a child and their responsibility? Is it the fact that Bruce is dead? That Cass is gone and both Steph and Babs are trying to fill that space in their lives? Why did it fucking take so long for anyone to notice that this kid needed help she wasn't getting, to the point she isn't even a kid anymore when it finally arrives?

thinking about how Shiva’s first mistake with Cass was underestimating her, the exact opposite of Batman’s mistake of holding her to an impossible perfect standard. Shiva asks Cass to hand back her pearls with a broken arm she assumes Cass wouldn’t (or couldn’t) use and she still gets her shit rocked 😭

I love the circle of like 80 maximum Cass fans on tumblr who are all mostly chill and doing their own thing but then someone makes a random poll being like "Best batfam character with Bat in their title" and we fucking swarm and promote that shit like it's the most important election of all time. It happens once a month and it's worth it every time. I think Cass fans on twitter do the exact same thing like she won the best batfam member poll with thousands of accounts voting a year or two ago. Fantastic work everyone keep up the spirit of Cass winning everything, it's what the annoying menace would want ❤️
