two gay men got arrested for fucking in a public bathroom but they argued since you had to pay for it it was a hotel and it was fine. their defence worked and we dont have to pay for bathrooms anymore

Ok guys I know we want to celebrate victories in queer history but

1. Googling "Canada gay sex pay toilets" just brings up a bunch of reblogs of this post

2. There does not seem to have been any sort of norm of public toilets in Canada charging money to use in the 20th century

3. I am neither Canadian nor a lawyer but I find it extremely hard to believe that there is any jurisdiction on earth where charging money to use a public toilet makes it legally constitute a hotel room and therefore OK to have sex in.

due to shrinkflation the magic bean i can offer you is just the size of a regular bean with a regular beanstalk

I feel like I would have been diagnosed with OCD a lot earlier if the vast majority of screening questions (for mental illnesses in general) weren't based on the person's perception of their own behavior, in isolation. and what i mean by that is asking someone with OCD "do you wash your hands excessively?" is not a good question.

a person with OCD believes they are washing their hands the correct number of times. it's not excessive. we believe we're exhibiting best practices and helping to keep everything clean.

better questions might be, "does it seem like you wash your hands a lot more than your friends or family?" "do you get dry patches or cuts on your hands from washing your hands?" "do you find it deeply distressing, more so than how you've seen other people react, when you get something on your hands that you can't clean off right away?"

being asked "are you overly preoccupied with bugs, symmetry, and contamination?" also got "no" responses from me years ago in my life. what they didn't ask for, and didn't know, was what *exactly* I was doing in my day to day life that genuinely ate up my time and mental space to a concerning degree, but I *didn't know* that other people don't do this.

"do you spend a lot of time cleaning?" -> no, it's not a lot. it's a good amount. why?

"do you become frustrated because it seems like no one else meets your organizational and cleanliness standards - do you often 'take over' for other people because they can't do it right - do new friends seem surprised by how strict you can be about your living space?" -> oh. yeah. yeah I get it now.

if the screening questions on the mental illness test sound at all like "are you already aware you're mentally ill?" then, shocker, it's not going to work all that well!

hate hate HATE when quizzes are like "how would other people describe you?" or "people say you're such-and-so—y/n?" ARE YOU ASKING ME FOR THE OPINION OF MY PEERS OR ARE YOU USING OTHER PEOPLE AS A COGNITIVE DISTANCING TOOL TO GAUGE MY OWN OPINION OF MYSELF BECAUSE THOSE ARE QUESTIONS WITH TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ANSWERS!!!!

I feel like ODD being an official disorder in the DSM should be the thing that makes everyone go “hm” about how psychology is practiced

[looking a child directly in the eye] i diagnose you with Shitty Bitch Syndrome. this makes it legal to do medieval german tortures to you by the way

cmon man

you can tell this website is autistic as hell because someone posts a video with a mildly catchy phrase in it and no one shuts up about it for an extended period of time. or image even. image with a mildly catchy phrase in it even. we love phrases here on tumblr dot com love to repeat them. due to the autism

Hey I don't know who needs to hear this, but kids who were never taught about a subject acting like the subject they never heard about doesn't exist aren't active participants in its erasure. They are the people the erasure has been done to. Of course you know what's been done to people like you, but attacking kids about it is like beating a dog for being domesticated.

If it's "not your job to educate people", then I'm curious to know what exactly are you doing in the activism you say you're doing.

"not my circus, not my monkeys" = not your problem

"not my circus, but those are my monkeys" = it's only your problem as far as figuring out how to retrieve them without being caught

"my circus, but those aren't my monkeys" = it's your problem until you figure out whose monkeys those are, and after that you make it their problem

"my circus, my monkeys" = this is 100% on you. On the bright side, if you decide you're chill with the shitshow currently happening, nobody can walk in and make you do anything about it.
