i think eddie simply hasn’t thought of buck in a romantic way before and if someone asked him point blank like someone did buck then it would all click for him
i wonder how long buck and eddie just looked at each other smiling when eddie facetimed buck to tell him about the hug and about chris telling him he loves him. i bet they were both tearing up, and buck was probably only able to say eddie's name in a shaky voice for the longest time.
