I LOVE this episode. We get Smoky. We get Jasper characterization. We get a stronger Steven-Amethyst sibling relationship. We get a little Peridot humor and cute confirmation of her redemption.

And we get PINK DIAMOND sort of LORE AND CONFIRMATION?!

AND THE RUBLES ARE BACK

Easy 9/10. EASY. This show seemingly just keeps getting better; it’s so layered, and I love how slowly things start to fall into place and reveal a teensy part of the giant puzzle that this show is. It’s so satisfying!

I honestly don’t even remember what happens in the next two episodes besides going back to the moon, I think? And…space. So those two episodes will also be sort of blind-but-not-exactly. Then season 4 will be back to the old ways. Again, not sure when I’ll get around to them, but hopefully soon.

See ya then!~

OH CRAP I FORGOT THAT THE RUBLINGS SHOW BACK UP AHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

If anything happens to this sibling relationship I will kill everyone in this room and then myself

UGH MY HEART

Amethyst has grown SO. MUCH, and I am so proud of her. Maybe this is the turning point where Amethyst realizes that Jasper was the damaged one, not her.

I still can’t believe Peridot was the one to bring her down.

Peridot.

corrupted thorns through the eyes, huh?

yeah, that’s gonna leave a mark

I’ve literally been thinking about this since I heard it a year and a half ago.

WHAT. DOES. THIS. MEAN.

I’ve had theories, sort of. Really basic theories: I thought maybe Rose was a high ranking officer in Pink Diamond’s court, and that Pink Diamond ordered (or even created?) Rose to lead the rebellion. Or that Rose turned on PD and the Crystal Gems made an example of her. Or maybe PD wanted to be done away with? Or maybe it was all theatrics so that PD could leave the Diamond authority, and maybe she’s actually still alive, and maybe she’s corrupted, even.

But this puts things in a different perspective. Does she mean that Rose’s actions indirectly led to whatever happened to Pink Diamond? Or does she mean…Rose, specifically, wiped out PD?

Jasper’s VA is fantastic this episode.

The raw desperation, anger, confusion, sadness - all of it is coming through so clearly and so realistically. She makes Jasper so dimensional in intonation alone

mmmmm I don’t want to get too political or anything

but damn if this doesn’t strike a chord about people relying on misinformation to argue against those who are actively trying to help them - which has been EXTREMELY relevant this past year

like I first watched this episode what, a year and a half ago? If you’d told me then that we would have a global pandemic, that people would willingly ignore factual, scientifically-supported information and actively REFUSE to protect not only themselves but their family, their friends, and the people around them, AND would somehow spin this as some far-fetched plan to take control over the population?

honestly I’d probably believe you because I’m jaded and find that people sort of suck but STILL

image

Which…which one exactly

Her limb enhancers? Bottom of the ocean.
Status? Likely wiped as of her “YOU CLOD” incident.
Dignity? …uhhhhhh since when did Peridot have dignity, exactly?

image

“I see how you do it now, Rose! You want gems AFTER they’re worthless! You wait, until after they’ve lost…because when you’re at the bottom, you’ll follow ANYONE…that makes you feel like less…of a failure.”

Or - and hear me out! - Rose empowered gems who had been cast aside and deemed useless by a tyrannical society that ignored the merits of individualism and self worth?

I mean I’m just spit ballin’ but

okay but she’s been doing this the entire episode

I really want an in-depth look at corruption. Not more than 30 seconds after “contracting” it and Jasper is like a feral animal. How does this work? What exactly is it? How exactly does it affect their mental state?
