Damn. It’s been a long time huh Tumblr? So I’ve been working on getting a Niuean Card Game up and running. It’s going to take a long while but I will be making an App and a physical version. They will be cards that have to do with Niue History, Myths and Legends. Characters, People of History and Legends all created through my imagination. The cards shown will change as these are just previews for me to see how well I could execute this if I did all the artwork myself.
Other cards to come related to the stories/history of how the Coconut was discovered. The animals/creatures of the Island. Shamans - Warriors - Villagers. The blood feud era between the tribes of Tafiti and Motu and many more.
watch this space lol
Fakaalofa lahi atu ma Tumblr followers. I’m back again lol Here is a cute little Uga that I drew up awhile ago.
The Uga (Coconut Crab) are a delicacy to eat in Niue and I would say are one of Niues top known creatures. I hope you enjoy :)

Day 22+23
My talented friend Mercy wrote this poem detailing her experiences as a Samoan American. She can be found on IG and Twitter, and here’s a bonus link to one of her many spoken word pieces.

During the year 1774 James Cook tried a few times to land on the shores of Niue but couldn’t due to his whack a$$ boat that couldn’t get past the coral reefs. Every time they tried to land there were Niuean Natives waiting for them, yelling and ready to throw rocks. James Cook and his men decided to take a smaller boat, in which they were able to land and were then greeted by Natives to which James Cook and his men saw how badass this bunch from the Pacific were and didn’t want to catch them hands. So him and his men and all their disease and colonizer thoughts left Niue to never be seen again. From then onwards Niue was named “Dont go there these guys will fxck you up Island”. (Later translated to Savage Island
