The alt-right's foothold into Gen-Z is frustrating and I can see from over here how they're doing it.

You've got a generation of young-adults who are learning to be adults for the first time and for so many of them it sucks. It sucks to be in your first shitty apartment where things break, and to have your first shitty car that needs maintenance, and to be working a low-paying service or retail job where you get berated all day and barely scrape by. And you go home and you have taxes to figure out and electric bills to figure out and a screen on your phone to rot into to destress.

And this is men and women, equally, in this spot. But the alt-right messaging gets to tailor their approach to gender.

And hey women, yes you working a shitty job for shitty pay, overwhelmed by financial responsibilities and car repairs, what if you actually didn't need to do ANY of that? You don't need to. And you don't need to feel guilty about it. (You're not quitting, you're not being lazy), you actually are just embracing the chance to be exactly who an ideal woman should be. You should actually be beautiful, and demure, and barefoot in a sunny kitchen, glowing, pregnant, hearing the joyful sounds of your children while you bake a roast for your wonderful husband (strong, protective, loves you, handles the finances, handles the jobs, handles all the things you hate). OUR ancestors (don't mind the dogwhistle) did this for GENERATIONS, and modern society has failed you instead!

It's offering to break women out of all the parts of their real life that suck, and do it in a way that promises they're actually being better, being more admirable, more moral, more respectable, more correct, can feel good about, can feel proud about, as a Woman as Feminine as Mother as Goddess.

And the thing being promised does not need to actually reflect reality. It's a fantasy. It is not real. For every "beautiful demure barefoot" day, you'd be having another one covered in shit changing diapers of screaming infants with screaming children while your husband ignores you because it's Women's Work (take pride!) But that doesn't matter. It just needs to sound better than the reality they're living.

Then the men are targeted too. And it's the same in that it's getting to them by appealing to pride in their gender, but the messaging is different. It's "those finances are hard but ACTUALLY you're leveling up, you're grinding, you're finance maxing." It's hard but it's the kind of hard that is a challenge you can WIN at, boast about, post about, prove your manliness. Knowing cars, knowing home repairs, knowing taxes, that's your MAN pride, and you are so elite, you are so sigma, you are the envy of everyone, you are a masculine man. Women love you. Women will defer to you. Strong, respected, moral, loyal, unshakeable. Unlike those pansy men (mind the homophobic dogwhistling) who will whimper and cry like girls. You are better.

The shitty retail job is actually humble beginnings because you're minmaxing your way to financial success (bitcoin, crypto, investments). You can sleep with any woman you want as long as you're confident, and then you'll find one who understands how smart and confident and strong and protective you are and she will defer to you as her man. She will birth your children and teach them good morals and you will make it. Our ancestors lived this way for generations (dogwhistle) and modern society took it from you.

And with that messaging it makes it clear who the enemy in all this is - modern society that has convinced women to torture themselves with high education and terrible jobs, turned them Ugly with Ugly opinions and bad hair and nasty attitudes, yelping about "rights" and "equality" (pitting them against men! TAKING things from men!) All the while, society has been trying to emasculate men--replace them with women, make them soft and emotional, make them gay, make them WEAK. We've been made WEAK.

The naive women hearing this go "I'm not ugly! I don't hate men! I DO hate my job and my finances. I've been tricked. I'm actually rebelling by declaring my goal is to get a Perfect (White) (Christian) moral husband who will make all our decisions and protect me and our children." (And when she's financially trapped in an abusive marriage...? When she's suicidal with PPD but her husband won't touch that because it's Woman Hysteria...? And when her husband leaves her for someone who was as hot as she was 20 years ago and now she's figuring out finances, health care, taxes, bank accounts for the first time in her life...?)

And the men go "They've been TAKING things from us for too long! It's time to be men again! It's time to take pride! I am strong and confident. I am in charge! I never show weakness!" (And when he's got a gun to his head due to the depression he's never been allowed to talk about as Women Feelings...? And when he's financially ruined from a crypto scheme that stroked his ego and robbed him blind...? And when he's dead from alcohol poisoning and none of his adult children notice because no one's spoken to 'Dad' in 15 years...?)

And it's so hard to fight because you're arguing against a fantasy. How do you disprove their fantasy? It's so hard to explain to them, hey you're working a shitty job where you have no future because the rich bastards took it all from you. And now you're doing their work for them. You hate society because of what they've done to it and now you're doing their work. Now you're targeting groups who've never done anything to harm you and the guys responsible are laughing to the bank. How do you explain? How do you disprove fantasy?

Hello dear 👋❤️

"I am writing to you during one of the most difficult times my family has faced. Our home in Gaza was destroyed by war, and we are now living in a school that lacks the most basic necessities of life. As a father of three daughters, I am struggling to provide for them under these harsh conditions. 🏠💔

I understand that everyone has their own challenges, but if you find a place in your heart to offer any support, no matter how small, it would have a huge impact on our lives. Your generosity can bring hope to my family during these difficult times. 🤲❤️

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your time, kindness, and compassion. May Allah bless and reward you for all that you do. 🤍🙏"

Hello, I am Ahmed from Gaza, a high school graduate with a GPA of 80%. I dreamed of becoming a nurse.

Despite my family’s poor financial situation, I enrolled in the bachelor’s program in nursing at Al-Aqsa University. I had begun to achieve my dream, as had my sister who enrolled after me in nursing.

But on one day, October 7, our dream began to be lost and shattered. Like many people in Gaza, our dreams became a thing of the past and could not be achieved. My university became home to many displaced people. After a while, the occupation destroyed it and destroyed my sister’s university, the University College of Applied Sciences

. Our life in displacement:

The war forced my family to flee our home. In the first month of the war, we became homeless. We went to refugee schools, but we were also displaced from them.

We almost slept in the street because we had no shelter, but we found a small room where we stayed for several months. After that, we were displaced to a small apartment where there were four families. We sometimes slept on top of each other because there was no space. Of course, one time we were displaced, we miraculously escaped death, as we went out to the bombing and shooting. Over our heads

in the first two months of the war, there was a famine in northern Gaza. We were being killed and dying just to get a little bread. To this day, the famine is still ongoing in northern Gaza. Of course, in addition to the famine, there is bombing, killing, the spread of diseases, and the lack of medicine. Our home was destroyed, and our lives and dreams were lost at the beginning.

Therefore, my family and I are seeking to obtain an amount of 50,000 euros to help us leave Gaza and continue our lives and dreams in education. Most importantly, it will allow us to support my family, who have been severely affected by the harsh conditions and high costs of living due to the ongoing war on Gaza.

Gaza on March 18th, I’ve

decided to start over because the need is even greater than before.I’ve launched a new fundraising campaign on GoGetFunding, and every contribution, no matter how small, makes a big difference and will reach those who need it, God willing. Here’s the link to the campaign: donate, share, and help us spread the word.Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

In one corner of Gaza, drowning in destruction and echoing with suffering, sat Umm Saleh, a woman in her fifties, beside her modest tent hastily erected after losing her home in the latest bombardment. Her face told stories of patience and resilience, with lines of time etched on it as if they were records of unforgettable events.

Umm Saleh, who once lived in a small house filled with the voices of her children, now bore witness to the agony of displacement. She was forced to flee with her children after a shell hit their home, leaving behind years of memories and simple belongings she never imagined would become unattainable.

Every morning, Umm Saleh leaves her tent in search of sustenance to feed her children. She goes to bakeries providing aid, waiting for hours under Gaza’s scorching sun. Despite the exhaustion that weighs down her frail body, she carries the bread, dampened with her tears, and returns with a fake smile that conceals the worries of a mother striving to protect the remnants of her family.

At night, when everyone else is asleep, Umm Saleh remains seated at the entrance of the tent, gazing at the dark sky. She reminisces about the days gone by, about her home that was once filled with warmth, and about her elderly, ailing husband of 70 years. Despite the pain, she finds remnants of hope in her heart—a hope for a day when peace will return and her children and grandchildren will live in a new home brimming with joy.

In moments of solitude, Umm Saleh finds solace in prayer and supplication. She implores God to protect Gaza and its people and to wipe away the dust of sorrow from everyone’s hearts. She often repeats, "We are here to remind the world that we are stronger than war, and we will rebuild our lives anew, no matter the cost."

Umm Saleh is not just a displaced woman but a symbol of patience and strength in the face of harsh circumstances. Her story, like the stories of thousands of mothers in Gaza, embodies the continuous struggle for life in a land torn apart by war, yet still blossoming with hope.

🌍✨ A Voice from Gaza: Fighting for Hope ❤️‍🩹

Hi, my name is Mosab , and I’m from Gaza. Life here has been harder than I could ever imagine, but today I’m sharing my story with hope in my heart, because your kindness has already given us so much strength.

This journey hasn’t been easy. The war has taken 25 family members from us—25 beautiful souls we loved deeply. Their laughter, their presence, their love… all of it is gone, leaving behind memories that are both precious and painful. Every day, I carry the weight of their loss, but I also carry their spirit, which gives me the strength to keep going.

Our Journey So Far

When I first reached out, I couldn’t have imagined we’d make it this far. Your support has been a light in these difficult times, and we are so deeply grateful for every single contribution.

But the road ahead is still challenging. Every day, we’re reminded of how much we’ve lost and how much we still need to rebuild.

Here’s what life in Gaza looks like for my family right now:

🏠 Safety: The uncertainty of tomorrow weighs heavily on us.

😢 Loss: The absence of the 25 family members we’ve lost is a pain we carry every moment.

💔 Dreams on Hold: The future feels so far away when survival takes all our strength.

How You Can Help Us Cross the Finish Line Even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference:

  • $5 may seem small, but for us, it’s a little relief, a moment of comfort, and a reminder that kindness still exists. ❤️
  • Can’t donate? Reblog this post to help us reach someone who can. Every share matters more than you know.

Why Your Support Matters Your kindness isn’t just about helping us meet our goal—it’s about reminding us that we’re not alone in this fight. It’s about hope. It’s about survival. And it’s about giving my family a chance to rebuild our lives, even in the face of unimaginable loss.

Thank you for helping us get this far. Your generosity and compassion have already brought us closer to a better tomorrow, and for that, I’m endlessly grateful.

With all my love and gratitude,

Mosab and Family ❤️

at the Washington DC pro-Palestine protest (NOT Hands Off) today they unraveled a list of all Palestinians murdered in the last year and a half. Brian Becker and Eugene Puryear spoke and tied absolutely everything we are going through right now back to the devastating effects that imperialism and capitalism have on all of us.

this is what should be happening. there needs to be a unifying message and a cause to rally behind that involves actually changing the way things exist today, not restoring this country back to the ways that lead us here to begin with. this is not purity testing. this is the type of anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist movement that is necessary in the current moment and anything else is a waste of precious time.

i am a disabled twospirit beadworker and my partner, is a jewish nonbinary transfem musician, we have been trying to set aside money to help w transition costs, eventually getting a new vehicle bc my truck is dying and is no longer safe for highway driving, and general cost of living(food, meds, etc)

if you want to support my partners music you can do so via bandcamp (they also do custom work for beats, production, or general collaboration, dm on instagram). i sell my beadwork online here and i am currently also open for beadwork and regalia commissions. if you feel generous and just want to help out with a few bucks my cashapp and venmo are both @ mathosapa

hii bringing this back bc im trying to make my vendor fee for powwow next week and this powwow will give us the majority of our income for the rest of the month, and will make it so i can afford to get to the reservation to help my grandma recover from surgery.

im open for commissions for beadwork and sewing, my partner is open for anything music related.

this company is so frustratingly misleading. They did not bring back the direwolf (Aenocyon dirus). They modified a modern grey wolf (Canis lupus) into having some direwolf morphology. There has been no de-extinction. This is pure hype slop. As a friend said "these are dire wolves the same way La Croix is a fruit".

I still think this tech has the potential to be helpful in a conservation context.... but it says a A LOT that these "dire wolves" look far more like something you'd see in Game of Thrones than any of the most likely reconstructions proposed by scientists who've studied the fossil record.

These pups might get more robust as they age, but right now I'm not seeing anything to get excited about. I just can't help but suspect that this species was chosen specifically bc the public already has the idea of "dire wolf = gray wolf + big", and that this company is using relatively minor CRISPR editing to give the false impression that they're recreating anything that might have conceivably lived 10,000 years ago.

Again, I think this tech is interesting and merits further development (and if jurassic park is the only way they can do that, then, I guess that's what's happening), but it's still extremely misleading to parade these animals around like they've actually 100% cloned a dire wolf.

Really reminds me of Jurassic Park. In the books, Crichton made it very clear that they didn't actually clone dinosaurs. They just combined DNA to make an animal that looked like what people EXPECT a dinosaur to look like, because it turned out that actual cloned dinosaurs were really quite dull and spent most of their time hiding.

Aencyon dirus isn't closely related to modern wolves at all either so it doesn't make any sense to start with a gray wolf. (According to wikipedia they were isolated from the gray wolf lineage for over 5 million years.) we thought they were in genus Canis but turns out it was just convergent evolution and they are a whole other thing

I think one of the big questions re: 'De extiction' is WHY.

What's the end goal for these animals?

I support efforts to reestablish populations of Passenger Pigeons and Carolina Parakeets and American Chestnut trees because the human-caused absence of these species has left holes in the ecosystem. The world would be improved by their return.

The Thylacine's niche in mainland Australia has been supplanted by the introduced Dingo; would it be able to compete?

The Wooly Mammoth and the Dire Wolf evolved for a climate that no longer exists; where would they live?

Nobody is suggesting that Thylacines be reintroduced to mainland Australia. The idea is to reintroduce them to Tasmania, which has never had dingos and currently has no apex predator - the largest is the Tasmanian Devil*, which is primaily a scavenger**. Given Thylacines went extinct less than a century ago, there's likely to be very real benefit to the wider ecosystem in restoring them, or at least something so close in behaviour and ecology as to make no practical difference. Any attempt at reintroduction would be very carefully tested in isolated conditions, to monitor for unintended consequences. Believe it or not, Australia kind of learned its lesson from the cane toad debacle, and now has very strict laws around introduced species***, and Tasmania even more so.

As marsupials, Thylacines are also logistically a bit easier, since they're born so early in development that it would put relatively little stress on the surrogate, and they were largely solitary animals, which avoids the concerns around social isolation. They are still charismatic animals, however, which would help bring in money to help conserve other species - the article mentions the Northern Quoll, for instance - and their habitats.

*there's also been suggestions that thylacines had a protective effect against Devil Facial Tumour Disease, as they broke up devil populations, thus limiting the spread.

**they do hunt, but their jaws are specialised for bone crushing, and they're not big enough to take down larger prey like wallabies.

***in Queensland, for instance, there is a list of species you may keep as a pet. Anything not on the list requires a licence, or is outright banned. The list is shorter than you might think - cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rats, mice and axolotl (https://www.qld.gov.au/families/government/pets/keeping-exotic-animals-as-pets-in-queensland). Several pets common elsewhere, such as rabbits and ferrets, are completely banned in Queensland.

^I stand corrected about thylacines

My "oh I wish" favorite candidate for de-extinction, the northern and southern gastric brooding frogs, actually face an entirely different challenge:

While we have a wealth of frozen tissue and preserved DNA from these species, they went extinct due to the introduction of the chytrid fungus into their natural habitats. While we could actually de-extinct them relatively easily by comparison to a lot of other species, their natural habit is now fatal to frogs. Reintroducing them would just be The Gastric Brooding Frogs Go Extinct: Redux.

They only went extinct in the 1980s. But where would we put them?

Sally just became a big sister to her baby brother Mohammed. Their mother Laila @laylaayman-blog2 has been fundraising trying to support their family through the awful conditions in Gaza, but it is hard for her to keep promoting her cause while taking care of a newborn, and donations have slowed as a result. She needs our help to share her campaign!

Please consider donating what you can, no amount is too small, and share if you cannot donate! Everything helps to get this campaign moving again, so that Laila can provide Sally and Mohammed with their basic needs!
