fine i caved now get off my site me.

of course light yagami is the sum of the masks he wears and we all are etc etc but i love that to catch a glimpse to what lies behind them you have to read the manga with, like... a metaphorical pheripeal vision. you can't trust the way he behaves in front of other people. you can't trust what he says as kira. you can't trust what he says in the thought bubbles. yotsuba!light is somewhat genuine, but as that point he is in such a situation of costant pressure and so traumatized that i don't know how much of what he does or thinks helps us to understand how he felt when he decided to become kira. as a reader you just have to hope that at some point something doesn't add up. he catching himself after having complimented misa's drawing skills. he clutching the death note to his chest and sweating when thinking about how becoming kira could lead to him having to kill his own family and chapters later saying that he has never considered finding the death note a misfortune. he having to criticize kira in front of other people - saying to L that kira is a child; to matsuda that his justice will be superior only if he wins. is he lying, is the mask slipping; do we have to trust what he says to others, what he says to himself, what he thinks or how he behaves? and is such a pleasure to read a protagonist that only in the few scenes in which he contradicts himself gives you the margin to try to understand his inner world better

"oh so the appeal of Lawlight to you is-" it's Everything Baby. It's the mind games it's Light seething with hatred while L gives him a wide eyed shit eating grin. It's them thinking the same thing at the same time without knowing it. It's their mutual appreciation for each other's intelligence and L disliking the second Kira because their style is so unlike real Kira and Light thinking Near is so beneath L that he doesn't deserve to wear his mask. after having killed L himself. And on that topic, it's Light running to hold L in his arms as he dies. so he can give him the evilest evil grin but also maybe so he can hold him? thoughts? It's the scenario in which they are enemies the scenario in which they are surprisingly friendly rivals the scenario in which they work together and the scenario in which they work together but sometimes fistfight about it. It's the potential for even more intense hatred and the potential for softness and gentleness.

But yes my favourite is the potential for them to be the most mundane couple ever whose favourite recreational activity is being pretentious dicks to other people together. And lying to them. They work as a crime solving duo that argues about the moral implications of something for two hours but then end up agreeing on using psychological torture. and then they come home and cuddle on the couch and watch the news

You know what, i'm doing this anyway XD

I did it with Fox Janus so it's just fair i do it with these as well.

i actually need light yagami to be in therapy because i think it would be very funny and also very real™. i think he'd be utterly delusional and in denial about everything. he's like ok yeah i am aware of 'depression' but i only cry for six hours every day because i'm letting excess water out of my body so that doesn't apply to me. you are telling me about 'bipolar disorder' but being awake for days at a time makes me really productive so i fail to see why this is a problem. my friends and loved ones say i'm the normalist.

'sayu is begging me to go to therapy because it's fun for her. it's like a hobby. we all enjoy it.'
