the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
btw this is maybe the single most key distinguishing feature of the terfy strains of radical feminism, the seed all the rest of it springs out of: they have absolutely no faith in the ability of feminism to actually destroy patriarchy. they do not think feminism can truly build a better world. they cannot really even imagine that possibility. they think patriarchy is an inevitable natural consequence of unchangeable biological facts, and therefore the goal of feminism can only be to mitigate the worst effects of patriarchy, not to get rid of it.
they can imagine a society where women get some designated safe spaces without men around. they cannot imagine a society where the presence of men is not inherently a danger to women.

i do think there should be more stories and shows and stuff about guys falling in love with butch women actually, i think that’d be a good thing. and not ‘this is as butch as twitter can handle’, i mean butch as can fucking be without apology, and making those boys weak in the knees about it. i think it’s great actually to have f/m romances that exist to break gender norms, too. i think it sucks that the only mainstream het romances that exist are either about women who are already feminine or with women who are just a little too scarily masculine and have to be fixed into being girlier. that’s shit.
it’s not like. taking away from queer people if you let “the straights” have some genderfuckery in their romance, too. that’s good, actually, the blurring of gender roles and performance and getting better understandings of your own sexuality is good for everyone. and it’s really fucking weird if you think that mainstream “het” romances shouldn’t feature women who are “too masculine” because that’s only allowed for queer people, somehow.
Canonizing @ilovedthestars' tags:
#this is what i mean when i say that there are cases where 'queerness' should be extended to people who don't consider themselves queer #(in real life as well as in discussions about fictional characters) #the goal is not to enforce a dividing line between Us and The CisHets #the goal is to break down the unfair standards that we are all held to #if cis het allo people lean into non-conformity in gender and relationships that is better for all of us #because it's weakening the idea that everyone has to conform #so heck yeah i'm here for more butch straight romance stories #just like i'm here for more alloromantic allosexual characters having platonic life partnerships

OP have you heard of Eddis Helen?
I’m watching Splash (1984) which is a romcom about a guy who falls in love with a mermaid, and when she chooses a human name she chooses Madison and guy says “that’s not a real name, but alright” which seems to imply that Madison was not a name until at least the 80’s and all girls named Madison are actually named after the mermaid. thought you should know
I think...you might be right
what the fuck
[ID: the first image is a graph showing the use of the name Madison in the USA. It shows that its feminine usage only started in 1984. The second image is an extract from a Wikipedia article, reading as follows:
“Madison is a surname of English origin that has become a popular given name in the United States, and to a lesser extent in Canada. Madison, also spelled Maddison, is a variant of Mathieson, meaning son of Matthew. A different origin is alleged by some where Maddy is assumed to be the pet form of Maud and therefore the meaning is son of Maude. Madison is also used as a given name. It has become popular for girls in recent decades. Its rise is generally attributed to the 1984 release of the film Splash. From an almost non existent given name before 1985, Madison rose to being the second-most-popular name given to girls in the US in 2001. In 2021, the most recent year of available data, it was ranked twenty-ninth. In 2022, it was the 41st most popular name given to girls in Canada.” /End ID]

Preview of Basilisk, my personal favorite of my risograph comics, and the project all my other recent medieval-inspired art descends from.
Styled after medieval illuminated manuscripts and printed using a custom color palette requiring 5 risograph inks (including metallic gold), Basilisk asks the question: what would drive a teenage girl to create a monster?
Physical copies available here (also digital here). To brag for a moment--this is my masterwork of riso printing and is even more impressive in person.
You’re all remembering Basilisk for my birthday
Basilisk is one of my all time favorite short comics. If you don't already have a copy in your home, consider this an invitation.
Being an evil doppelganger has to be so fucked up like imagine meeting a better version of yourself. Some chain of events going differently that led to "you" being a better person in a way you can never achieve. Personally I'd have no other option but to try and kill them
It's always "oh no my evil clone or twin or whatever is trying to kill me" and never How is my evil clone? Says a lot about society
Me, crashing the fuck out: you think you're better than me? You think you're fucking better than me???
My good clone, dodging a glass: I mean like objectively yeah
Dutch artist, Redmer Hoekstra.
Ooooh, because “path” and “toad” are written and pronounced the same way in Dutch!
Pad en pad.
Een paddenpaadje.
A road of toads.
I trode on the toad road
Ik loop een eenzaam Pad
De enige die ik ken
Weet niet waarom het kwaakt
Maar het is thuis en ik loop het Pad
