the "oh he looks like silver" to "oh my god he IS silver"

time travel is weird and sometimes you unknowingly beat up your own son multiple times. a lot.

(do not repost/edit/use. Fuck AI.) (please reblog instead!)

Hey you all know about that fungus that possesses ants to make them climb on the tip of grass blades in hopes of getting eaten by a cow, so that the fungus can continue its life cycle in the cow's guts? Because I think that's the kind of thing that's wrong with cave divers.

We don't know what's down there. We don't know what's gotten into their heads that makes them so determined to physically, personally go down there to find out. But I wouldn't entirely dismiss the possibility that whatever has gotten into them is very invested in getting eaten by whatever is down there.

The thing about reclaiming slurs is that once you've been affectionally called 'faggot' by friends, loved ones, and amiable fellows on the internet for long enough, you almost forget that it means something else to people who hate you.

Honestly at this point if a stranger on the street yelled "hey faggot!" after me, I'd probably turn around like "what?" like they'd just casually called me by name, and they were only trying to get my attention because they wanted to tell me something, before processing that they're being hostile.

do y'all remember when they found all that tf art in Osamu Tezuka's drawer post-mortem because I think about it often

anyway keep chasing your bliss and draw weird shit, god knows we need that right now

In a move surprising absolutely no one, JKR has now added asexual people to her list of people to mock and bully online. While obviously this is nowhere near the amount of vitriol she aims towards trans women in particular, it's continued evidence of her bigotry and yet another reason not to support or engage with the new HP show if her continued transmisogyny still wasn't enough.

Anyway fuck HP and fuck JKR.

the world's smallest carnivore is called the "least weasel" 😭😭 i'm dying but like if it's the smallest carnivore then it sure is the least amount of weasel you can have 😭😭😭

Look at him: this is absolutely the least amount of weasel you can have

Scrolled past this agakn and just can't get over how much I love it. We need to make things beautiful again and this is such a wonderful example. The beadwork on the wires of a utitarian object, contrasted with the grey concrete.

why are time loops always only like 1 day long?

the real horror is a months or years long time loop. no speedrunning your torture here. you have to sit with the consequences of your actions for a loooong time before the release of knowing the consequences and actions have been erased.

but oh, all the actions and consequences are gone. those relationships you built? empty. you can never build them again without the constant guilt of knowing that it's not as real the second, third, thirtieth time when you already know all their secrets and they none of yours.

but you can't hide. you can't isolate yourself because what if this is the time the loop breaks and then what? years gone by of missed chances with people who have changed you a thousand times and now circumstances have changed. you can never build back what was washed away by your own inaction. they'll never be able to meet you like they did the first time if you don't choose to meet them the first time every time

Official Time Loop Post

You can never have the same child twice. How many loops does it take a grieving time traveller to accept that.

how universal of an experience is having the giving tree read to you as a small child and being distraught even tho the teacher seemed to think it was a nice story. also is this a gendered phenomenon. do girlchildren know on some level that they’re the tree not the little boy

Children designated as “gifted and talented” frequently melt down because of this story.  Boys and girls both. I’ve heard many G&T educators say they don’t bring The Giving Tree or The Rainbow Fish into their classrooms at all because of it.

Wow, what is it about gifted and talented kids that makes those stories hit them so hard?

Because those stories are innately about what to do with gifts and talents, and in the case of those particular books, children often interpret them as “give up all sense of self and bodily autonomy, and carve yourself to pieces to make other people like you.”

I was gifted and talented, but I don’t remember reacting to the Giving Tree like that and never read the Rainbow Fish.

I did nearly have a goddamn breakdown in four grade over having to be perfect because I both “had potential” and as fourth graders had to “set an example” for the younger kids in the school. So ya know, I still get it.
