Is the absence of female characters/focus on female characters enough to qualify as misogynistic, even if women aren’t spoken badly of/the ones who show up aren’t mistreated or objectified?
I’d argue it depends on the story being told, but often yes, there’s some misogyny there, especially within fiction. Women are, like, half the population, why aren’t they in the story? Why don’t they matter? Weirdo behavior to leave them out most times, tbh.

Ok here is a suggestion for how you can introduce the tournament to r/menwritingwomen without making an off-topic post: Here https://www.reddit.com/r/menwritingwomen/comments/183g6se/what_line_was_so_ridiculousdisgusting_it_made_you/ is a discussion post where people list times a line was so ridiculous it made them drop the book, there are some books that could be really good for this tournament here, so maybe you could post there saying you wanted to see if anyone is interested in submitting something mentioned here to the tournament, that even if making a full post about it is off topic you still wanted to bring it up in the discussion.
Honestly, I made my attempt, I don’t want to bother these mods with another one. I agree they would have some interesting submissions, but, alas, I am a naturally anxious person who doesn’t like to even risk bothering people, so I’m gonna leave it here. But (as I am a coward), if you want to do it, feel free! No pressure though, up to you!

I'm so sorry for the bombardment of "can I see the reasoning for ___?" but I'm pretty curious about what reasoning someone provided for Breaking Bad, as most of the "dont imitate this" type misogyny I think of comes from the fans of the show and is a direct misinterpretation of the shows text about Skyler White. I can come up with a few things that are questionable (Andrea in particular functions more as a plot point to push Jesse forward than I would like her to) but I'm still somewhat surprised that someone would consider it inherently misogynistic enough to submit it to this bracket

No, I limit posting submission reasons to when there is only one piece of propaganda for my own sanity and laziness. After that it gets to be a huge messy list, and, like, pass on that.

Is there any media you didn't expect to see submitted?
I did not expect to see Jak and Daxter, not because I remember it writing women well, but because I forgot about it entirely and was suddenly blasted back 20+ years to playing it and being confused when it turned all edgelord in the sequels. “Get smacked in the face with PS2 action game nostalgia” was not on my To Do List for the day.

You got it right, actually. That is the ideal scenario, but it only works if you provided your url the first time so I can match the two, which you did, so it works perfectly!
