Sam/Vampirebuckley and Racism

So it has been recently brought to mine and other people's attention that a prominent 9-1-1 and Buddie content creator was exposed on Twitter for racism. I want to be upfront and say that I have not personally seen these posts or Sam's supposed apology that they posted shortly before deactivating all of their social media accounts. I am not on Twitter (X), nor do I intend to use the platform ever again. If any of you have screenshots of these posts that you could send me, I would be happy to add them to this post so it is easily accessible to those who want to know what was said.

From what I understand, Sam made a tweet back in 2013 in which they used the n-word. This is racist and completely unacceptable. If there are any other racist tweets or posts that Sam has made, I am unaware of them but condemn them all the same.

I do believe very strongly in rehabilitation and that people can and do change, especially over the span of a decade. However, Sam's actions in response to this information coming to light are very telling and that they still have work to do. Words can only get you so far if your actions don't reflect what you say. Posting an apology (which, from what I hear, was poorly done, seemed insincere, and contained excuses for the past behavior, but please correct me if I am mistaken) and then swiftly deactivating their accounts shows an unwillingness to engage and listen to the hurt that they have caused to the Black community. It also makes their apology essentially meaningless if the people that it affects cannot even directly access and respond to what they had to say about their past actions.

I also want to address some comments that I have seen under other content creator's posts regarding this situation that pull attention away from or are expressing undo sympathy for Sam. Some of this is paraphrased, but I will do my best to accurately represent what has been said.

  1. "It was so long ago, a person can change a lot in that time". Sam's comments happening a "long time ago" mean nothing when what was said has caused and continues to cause so much pain and suffering to an entire group of people based on their immutable characteristics. Yes, people can change, but that doesn't change the damage their actions cause. They should still be held accountable for their actions and be willing to listen if they genuinely care about these issues.
  2. "Sam is already going through so much right now, I don't blame them for deactivating". No, we are not going to do this. You can feel bad that they are going through something shitty in their personal life, but that has nothing to do with the situation at hand. We are all going through our own personal struggles, whether we share them online or not. That does not excuse the way Sam reponded and ran away from the situation. If they needed a moment to be offline until they were in a better headspace to engage, they could have done that without deactivating their accounts.
  3. "The timing of this being released seems suspicious [because its following them talking about their recent struggles with a breakup]/The person who exposed them was trying to kick them while they were down". There is literally nothing to suggest this is the case, and I find it very, very hard to believe that someone would hold onto this information about Sam and only reveal it once they were at a personal low point. I find it far more likely that this is a coincidence and nothing more. Either way, this should not pull attention away from the main point of concern here: Sam's racist actions.

I strongly encourage content creators in this community, especially those with sizeable audiences, to speak up and address this situation. I know a lot of us join and engage in fandom to have fun and to escape the horrors of the outside world, but the reality is that we live in a deeply racist, white supremacist society and fandom (and society at large) will never be free of that unless we start to actually acknowledge it.

I also want to encourage folks to be respectful and refrain from engaging in harassment, death threats, etc. towards this content creator and anyone speaking up about the situation. We can hold someone accountable and not fall into harmful behaviors ourselves. From what I understand, Sam is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns exclusively. Please be respectful of this. Misgendering and other forms of transphobia are not excusable just because the person it is directed at has engaged in other forms of bigotry.

The most important point that I want to make is this: If you are not Black, you do not get to accept an apology from Sam.

If there is anything that I have stated here that is inaccurate or false in any way, please let me know so I can correct it. Thank you.

Okay 911 fandom...

I feel like I've been very nice about this before and I always figured it would all just disappear after a while, but this insane Ryan Guzman hatred is getting out of hand. And frankly? It is pissing me off!

So, let's get something very clear here:

This whole concept some people have in their head that Ryan is the reason why Buddie won't ever go canon? IT IS WRONG!

The man has screamed Buddie from the beginning. He came up with the name for Christ's sake. Just because some of you only joined the fandom after 7x04, doesn't mean you get to shit on this guy. You don't know the lore or the history. So shut up!

This idea that Ryan is a bad actor and he is botching up his scenes with Oliver, because Oliver clearly plays Buck as in love with Eddie?

Again... WROOOONG!

Buck is sooo much further on the Buddie path than Eddie is. All he has time for right now is his son! Ryan is NOT going to play Eddie smitten with Buck, because he isn't there yet in the narrative. He obviously cares deeply for Buck though and we see it in everything Ryan puts into his acting. He is obviously a talented actor and artist. So again... SHUT UP!

If I see any of you threaten the man over a fucking fictional ship on a TV-show? I will report you on whichever platform you are on and I'll make sure that everyone knows who you are so they can block you accordingly. Are you insane?! You cannot threaten people for doing their job.

And NO! Nobody is going to recast Eddie because you have it in your stupid little ignorant dumb minds that the man is a misogynist, a sexist, a racist, a terrible father (ARE YOU CRAZY! YOU CANNOT CALL A MAN YOU DO NOT KNOW A BAD FATHER! WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN SMOKING!?) and a whole other slew of things that are simply made up in your own head!

He made one single mistake a loooong time ago. He admitted that he was in a very dark place around that time. He even talked about trying to take his own life at a certain point. How much more honesty do you need?

After that mistake he apologised and he has obviously worked really hard to become a better guy. We can hear that in every interview he does. Stop spreading the narrative that people can't be forgiven after they apologise. What age are you? Four??? Of course people can be forgiven. It's called growth. This insane cancel-culture that has been growing rampant for the last couple of years has gone to all of your heads. Wake up and SHUT UP!

Stop these ridiculous claims and please do everyone a favour! Move on to another fandom where miserable people like you are welcome.

For years now this fandom has been a great place to be in. I love it here! But I've had it with the insane hate-campaigns against a guy just doing his job.

I won't even go into the insane Eddie hate I have seen lately.

This has got to stop!

I am still not a Ryan stan, but I am a decent human being and admirer of his work. So whatever has been going on lately? It is NOT right and we should all shout that from the top of our lungs.

If anyone is reading this and recognises themselves in what I have written here? Please step outside, touch grass, look at the sky and if you are following me? Kindly unfollow me. Thank you.

If anyone is reading this and feels the same way? Feel free to follow. I promise that I don't often make posts like this. I try to spread the fandom positivity as much as I can. So expect lots of that here.

Can we now just go back to enjoying what is really important here? Buddie is about to go canon. Let's celebrate and have fun! We've been waiting years for this. This is our time.

Why do so many people make tiktoks while they're clearly driving. What the fuck. Stop that shit, you're gonna kill someone.

I think people online treat driving too casually tbh, like there was a poll about people's bad habits while driving and they weren't bad habits or problematic or whatever, they were all things that literally kill people every single day. You are driving a massive vehicle that can very easily turn into a murder weapon with your carelessness, take this shit seriously.

"Haha I never use my turn signals" you are going to kill someone.

"I don't do full stops at stop signs lol" you are going to kill someone.

"Sometimes I text while I'm driving 🤭" YOU ARE GOING TO KILL SOMEONE.

Also people who speed up or suddenly stop or swerve a lot to freak out someone in the car for fun: it stops being funny when you get into a car accident because of it. Just so you know.

A good reminder that not everyone in red states has shit beliefs. Please remember that before you make your jokes about red states being backwards. There’s literally vulnerable groups who are terrified rn

Thank you for saying this. I’m very upset too but let’s think before making jokes like that.

A good reminder that not everyone in red states has shit beliefs. Please remember that before you make your jokes about red states being backwards. There’s literally vulnerable groups who are terrified rn

you're not an horrible person you are 15 years old

"you can be 15 years old and also a terrible person" teenagers do stupid shit all the time, adults do stupid shit all the time, what matters is that you learn about that and that you don't let that define you. you are figuring out yourself and you never really stop doing that.

this is a thing i saw on tiktok and it's been bothering me forever and ever. okay yeah you took bad decisions/hurted people/etc. but that doesn't mean that you're destinated to hurt people or to be a bad person forever and ever. perhaps at the moment you thought what you were doing was good. perhaps you were trying to protect yourself. perhaps you just didn't know any better. perhaps you thought that it wouldn't be that bad. whatever thing you've might've done on the past doesn't define you in any sort of way. you are a human being and you will do a lot of mistakes until you die. putting yourself down won't help on anything. others putting you down doesn't mean anything. don't let your mistakes be something that defines you, but let them be a reminder that you're still here and that you can grow as a person.

if this breaches containment I'll be genuinely happy. be kinder to yourselfs. life is about growing and learning, not about punishing and denying.

Hello, 911 fandom - I’m reaching out to you in a plea of fandom solidarity! Please help us!!!

I’m writing on behalf of The Dead Boy Detectives fandom: our show was canceled in its first season, cut off without a care for its dedicated fandom or its insane amount of potential. Yet another queer, diverse, supernatural show suffers an unfair fate and we’re bloody sick of it! We believe Netflix and Warner Bros. are making a huge mistake!

Could you guys please sign our petition and help spread it by reblogging?

This isn’t just about getting a season 2: we’re trying to get justice for the cast, crew, and writers behind this unapologetically queer show. They had the writers write a season 2 just to cancel the show and, frankly, that’s objectively a slimy thing to do. I believe Dead Boy Detectives is a casualty of its time, that shows cult-clasic, niche shows like Buffy or Supernatural for instance would suffer the same fate today if held to Netflix’s callous and cruel standards and their blatant disregard for creatives.

Lastly, I think if you enjoy queer shows with themes of found family, love, and loss intertwined with supernatural elements, I’m confident you will enjoy Dead Boy Detectives! If you're worried about it being scary, it isn't! Please don’t let the cancellation deter you, it really is a phenomenal show that will have you laughing one moment and crying the next. The story is really well-paced and self-contained, so there’s no gigantic cliffhanger to worry about either. This show has so much heart, please help us save our boys who defy heaven and hell with their love! 💜

Thank you in advance to any of you who signed, and a HUGE special thank you to those who stream it! Netflix has gotten far too comfortable nuking shows, especially those with queer themes and diverse leading characters, in their prime. If you sign and share our petition in an act of fandom solidarity please know it means the world to our detective agency and we appreciate you so much!!!💀🔎💜

Last thing: I promise this post is not intended to clog the tag in any way and this will be the only post I make in the tag on this subject! I wouldn’t want our fandom to bleed into your space! We’re just desperate for help and there’s so much overlap in our fandoms and shows that it made sense to reach out to you all - I figure the least I can do for the show I love so much is to try. Thank you again 🖤

talking to people while holding a beverage is awesome because you don't have to know what to do with your hands and when you don't know what to do with your face you can just take a sip

I’m finally able to share a piece I worked on last year for a byler/stranger things DnD themed zine that unfortunately got cancelled.

Regardless I had a lot of fun with this one, and my dnd/history nerd heart was quite happy while working on this.

I am a sucker for quiet moments so I wanted to make something about prepping for the next big battle (with a Thessalhydra mayhaps?), or something like that.

A lot of artists have made a lot of great pieces for it, so keep an eye out for some really great dnd art popping up in the tag.

I just feel awful for Eduardo Franco. He was truly hilarious and just so wholesome on Stranger Things, Argyle was the best. Stranger Things didn’t deserve him anyway.

Hey, you are not an embarrassment for not knowing how to do certain household chores/basic self-care. They do not come naturally to us. A lot of it takes practice! Maybe you had a neglectful guardian. Maybe you had one that was very coddling and never thought to teach you. Maybe you haven't lived in a place where these things were available to you or needed. Doesn't matter. It's okay to not know and far more common than you might realise.

That said, this website provides very simple instructions on how to do everyday tasks such as making your bed, using a washing machine, cooking different foods, washing dishes, taking a shower, etc. All you have to do is use the search bar to find the task you're struggling with, and it'll come up with what you need + other related how-to's:)

If you're having trouble navigating it, let me provide you with some examples:

It's also perfectly okay if these don't help or aren't appealing to you. Unfortunately, nothing helps everyone.

Also if the reason you don't know is developmental , intelectual or learning disabilities making you struggle even if you've been taught a bunch of times , you are so cool and awesome too :^) [smiley face ]
