Hello Lovelies, like everyone money is TIGHT and I've been trying to find a 2nd job that's not uber or door dashing but have been unsuccessful, I can get a little extra work here and there, but the point is finances are what they are for the moment. I live below poverty level and believe me there is nowhere I can cut back on expenses. I went to renew my Student Loan Income based repayment plan (I still owe 40k) and the application is frozen, it expires in May, but I can't reapply. What the heck do I do? If I end up off that repayment plan there's no way I can afford the most likely $400+ monthly bill. I would be paying them off if I could, but I am barely making it. I know a couple years ago you said don't repay at the moment because we thought the last admin would get something passed.
I would greatly appreciate it if you had any advice or words of comfort because I am STRESSED.
Sadly my dear, this is the exact kind of side effect we can expect from DOGE's massive layoffs of government employees.
My advice is to keep trying on another day, on another computer, or from another IP address. Don't give up. You deserve this income based repayment plan.
This is yet another reason why we wish the Biden administration had been able to wipe out even more peoples' student loans before they left office.

Adding on: this is the exact kind of thing you can and should call your congressional representatives about. You could probably read them this exact ask, honestly (maybe don't call the 22-year old staff assistant answering the phone lovelies but you know).

This happened to me. I had to call their customer service line and they had me send in the physical form.
You'll need to call first because they technically don't accept the physical form outside of these technical exceptions.

Please come vote for the Night Vale husbands! They fought so long and hard to be together! They’ve been together since 2013 and married since 2016! They have a dog named Aubergine and a son named Esteban! We have never been queerbaited by these two! Cecil has been out and proud since episode 1! “He grinned, and everything about him was perfect, and I fell in love instantly.” And it’s reciprocated! One year later and they finally tell each other! The voice actors even recreated this moment in person! This show has done so much for queer representation and they deserve all the love and support! So please I beg of you! Go vote for Night Vale!
