 A as in air-gapped security.   An air-gapped system is completely isolated. It has no connection to the public Internet or external networks, nor does it allow remote access.   The only interaction happens physically via controlled portable devices.
   That’s why air gaps are still considered one of the strongest security measures available, especially in finance, government, and military environments where risk tolerance is close to zero.   However, even in these scenarios, internal communication is crucial. And that creates a challenge:
 How to communicate without breaking the air gap?   The answer is a messenger designed to operate entirely within an isolated network.   Threema OnPrem, the self-hosted version of Threema Work, was built for this purpose. 
It runs on a company’s own infrastructure and can be configured to operate without a connection to the public Internet.   Messages stay inside the network.

The debate is over: tech independence is no longer optional for Europe – it’s essential.   With rising tensions between an unholy alliance of the US government and Big Tech on one side and Europe on the other, the lack of digital sovereignty could become leverage for the next stage of escalation.   Cutting members of the international Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague off from vital digital services in 2025 offered a bleak preview of what the future may hold for the continent.   With direct attacks on European regulation of US tech companies, the tone for 2026 is already set.   The only way forward is to strengthen Europe’s independence in: • Tech sovereignty • Digital sovereignty • Data sovereignty • Cloud sovereignty • Speech sovereignty   This demands significant effort – above all, political will, education, economic protection, and the nurturing of homegrown technologies.   The time for restraint and declarations of intent is over.
