The Good Old Days

I think of the good old days,
Long since ended,
When my nights were filled with joyful songs,
I search my soul and ponder the difference now…
Since I have seen good days,

For though the night is dreadfully long,
I won’t lose hope, this I vow.

Franz Kafka, from a letter to Felice Bauer written in 1912, featured in Letters To Felice

Hekáte, Pyrophoros, Bearer of Torches,

Keep us illuminated.

‘And not cloy thy lips with loath’d satiety,
But rather famish them amid their plenty,
Making them red and pale with fresh variety;
Ten kisses short as one, one long as twenty.’

- Venus and Adonis
