My book update post for November is up now! I’m learning Clip Studio Paint to get my thumbnails organized!!!
I post once a month about my adventures (and sometimes misadventures) writing and drawing my first published graphic novel. You can keep up with my progress for just $1 a month– or you can join as a free member and see my older posts!!! See you over there!!!
Here’s a scary story just in time for Halloween: It’s time to start organizing my graphic novel thumbnails into a format that my editor can understand! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
I used a sneak peek from my as-yet-unshared pitch packet test pages for this header, because I needed a change from tiny silly thumbnail drawings. Also because it fits the season!!!
I’m making an important change to my page starting this month: New posts will still only be visible to paid members (although it’s only a $1 minimum!!!). But after 3 months, they’ll become accessible to all members, both free and paid. That means my May and June posts are now visible to free members!!! (I didn’t make a proper July post because I had insane health stuff going on)
I don’t want to make these posts completely public, so you’ll still need to subscribe to my page, but I’m hoping that this might be a way that interested parties can take a peek at the sort of stuff I’m posting, without committing to a monthly payment. And if you do like what you see, please consider chipping in a dollar to help support the making of this book!!!
In my defense, this time I did actually START writing this post in September. But this one’s a little longer. I got pretty in the weeds about my process of reviewing one small scene, figuring out that it needed to be fixed, and then fixing it.
If you like my work and would like to take a peek behind the scenes of my process, please consider joining my page for one dollar a month! I can’t do a lot of the work I used to do because of health issues, so Patreon and Etsy sales are pretty much my only income right now. Your support really helps!!!
How do you write and draw a 250-page graphic novel all on your own? Heck if I know!!!!! But I signed a contract saying I would do it, so I’m figuring it out, one little scribble in my sketchbook at a time.
Please consider supporting me on Patreon, where for as little as one dollar a month, you can follow along on my journey, peek behind the scenes, and maybe learn from my mistakes?? And if you can’t spare anything (which believe me, I get) reblogs are just as appreciated!
P.S. I would like to thank these monthly posts for giving me an outlet to express my passion for graphic design
Patreon post for June is up!!! This time, I’m sharing some of the character art for my graphic-novel-in-progress, Desert Rain, and I’ve written a little bit about how the designs and the story have evolved together since I had the original idea in 2017. Almost all of this art has never been posted publicly!
You can join my Patreon for as little as $1 a month! Over there, I’m sharing a peek behind the scenes at my trials and tribulations as I write and draw my first published graphic novel. I find myself pretty overwhelmed by trying to keep up with social media these days, so Patreon is the place where I’m going the most in-depth. I hope to see you there!!!
I wanted to start sharing some of my work and process on Patreon now that I’m in the thumbnailing stage of my graphic novel, but then I realized that this may not be the most aesthetically compelling social media content. So I jazzed it up with some tasteful typography!!!
Did I mention I’m working on a graphic novel? Okay, I think I mentioned it once, but did I mention I got a book deal and that DESERT RAIN will be published by Top Shelf Comix in 2027ish??? Well, I did!!! And that’s part of the reason I haven’t posted for so long.
I’m going to be posting a monthly behind-the-scenes look at what I’m working on. You can join for as little as $1! You’ll laugh with me, cry with me, stare with me at tiny stick drawings I drew months ago and can no longer decipher.
See you there!!!
