WELCOME TO MY BLOG! (master post)

Hello, I wanted to write a new introduction to my Tumblr blog! To start off – hi, my name is Jazz! I am a Christian artist and illustrator. I occasionally design and market art products (like stickers and keychains), and really love writing and making comics!

I also have a Discord server that is geared towards Christian artists and creatives! Everyone is welcome here, and it is a fun, wholesome community for sharing your talents!

Current Project(s):

Slices of Gremlin (tagged #slicesofgremlin) - a weekly web comic that is based on reality. The main character is my persona – the gremlin! She is a little purple gal who is a bit mischievous and likes to have fun. My friends/family members often show up as other fantasy creatures. Usually the comics are light-hearted and funny or wholesome, but sometimes they occasionally delve into some deeper topics!

Upcoming Project(s):

Wellwishers (tagged #wellwisherscomic) - I plan to release this project as a comic! Right now, I am doing heavy development work, and I hope to begin releasing it (hopefully) before the year is over! This comic focuses on Vincent Abernathy and Witherspoon (of the clan Everblood) – it is the misadventures of two best buddies, and it features redemption, broken families, and magical disasters that may or may not threaten the world as everyone knows it. Set in the 90’s/very early 2000’s, or the equivalent of it in their world (it is not Earth). The cast of characters is quite large, so I am slowly beginning to introduce them to the world! This project has been in the works since 2015.

Joint Writing Project/Book Series 1 (all of the details of this project are TBA, but I am writing a book series with a close friend!)

Writing Project/Book Series 2 (I have heavily developed this series, but I plan to renew/rewrite it and release it after Book Series 1! This project has been in the works even longer than Wellwishers – I made the main characters around 2011!)

Hmmm… something’s going on here!

@toothpaste-dragon had showed me it was world rat day and we talked about how Donald would happily take advantage of it to give some extra love and appreciation to Cricket! ;w; (Cricket belongs to @toothpaste-dragon!)

Cricket doesn’t know that there’s such a day, so she’s all confused as to why Donald is acting kinda weird. Donald’s going to have a bit of fun hinting at it and stuff first before telling her. >w<

Once again my sometimes cynical self is reminded that there is indeed good in the world (someone who I didn’t know GIFTED me the extremely rare skeleton bat that I needed to finish my collection of extremely rare 2010 bats on Chicken Smoothie). 😂❤✨

That’s a great question! Unfortunately, it’s one not so easily answered due to differences in how holidays are recognized in the Far From Home universe. Hundreds of alien races exist within FFH, each of which is associated with at least one culture and planet, though life is never quite that simple. So, to give an example, the U.S. federal government recognizes 11 holidays per year. Now multiply that by 195 countries on planet Earth - that gives Earth 2,145 different holidays in total (if we ignore the fact that some holidays overlap between countries). Sure, that’s a bit of an overestimation, but if every single alien race demanded to celebrate 2,145 holidays over the course of a standard intergalactic year, practically every day would be considered a holiday. As a result, the Intergalactic Government only recognizes a select few generalized holidays during a standard intergalactic year, but individual cultures are welcome to celebrate specific holidays on their planets as usual. The system is flawed and gets a lot of flack (and rightly so), considering space government just doesn’t want people taking days off of work unexpectedly and messing with the flow of trade and commerce. This means that many ‘lesser’ holidays (ie. ones that aren’t federally recognized, such as April Fool’s Day) remain generally unknown to most folks out in space, and having origins in wildly different cultures means that similarities between holidays are uncommon. So it’s possible that the FFH crew wouldn’t even be familiar with a holiday like April Fool’s Day, if it happened to exist in that universe.
But if we were to shove all that worldbuilding aside and, for the sake of this question, consider what might happen if the crew recognized April Fool’s Day as a holiday? They’d absolutely prank each other.

I feel like Gerdie would be the most into it, starting with harmless pranks and introducing Toko to the concept, before they both start setting little traps for each other! And contrary to what you might think, Baz would participate too - though he’d be very subtle and methodical about it. Gotta put all those smuggling skills to good use, right? Baz and Gerdie would definitely be the best at sniffing out suspicious activity before a prank comes to fruition, whereas Toko (being so young) would fall for pranks all the time. But she’d love the shenanigans!
