The Evolution of Amy Rose and her love for Sonic

Who is Amy Rose? Why does she love Sonic so much? Does Sonic love her back? I answer all these questions as I break down the highs and lows of Amy’s personal journey of growth through the years. All likes and shares appreciated!

Big thanks as always to my wonderful fiancée @hollylu-ships-it for providing the featured art of Amy and helping with the thumbnail!

Here he comes, rougher than the rest of them, the best of them, tougher than leather!

…my fiancé told me to write that lol.

Knuckles is the third Sonic character I’ve drawn, and I’ve gotta say, I LOVE how the shading and colors came out on this one! I sort of did it by accident just experimenting with the SAI tool. Go figure lol

I drew this for my fiancé who is getting back into doing YouTube, as part of a thumbnail that will be used for an upcoming video he’s making. Really hoping everything goes well! In the meantime, enjoy this drawing of Knuckles the Echidna, it’s really refreshing to draw different kinds of characters once in a while!

I’m making my return to the YouTube world, and I’m starting with a video about probably the one and only APPROVED Sonic ship in the whole franchise!

Let’s take a look at the strange connection between Vector the Crocodile and Vanilla the Rabbit.

“Are you awake?” Ash’s whispered voice cuts through the darkness.

“No,” Misty answers simply.

He snorts, his sleeping bag rustling on the floor under her as he gets more comfortable, Pikachu letting out a sleepy little ‘chu’ of annoyance at the disturbance. “Darn. I thought we could gossip.”

It’s Misty’s turn to snort as she adjusts her position as well, subconsciously snuggling into Ash’s bed. “Since when do you gossip?”

“Since people keep telling me things I wanna gossip about,” he laughs, and Misty bites her lip to contain her grin. What a goof.

“Okay, I’m awake,” she says begrudgingly. “Whatcha got?”

Ash’s sleeping bag rustles again. “Brock has a date this weekend,” he tells her like it’s bursting out of him.

“Shut up,” she snaps in disbelief, and Ash breaks into laughter. “No way! Are you serious? With who?”

“Some girl in one of his lectures I guess. I don’t think he expected her to actually say yes, because he called me all panicked about it.”

Misty chuckles. “He called you? He must have been panicked.”

“I know,” Ash agrees with a laugh. “I think he forgot he knows way more romantically competent people and just went with muscle memory.”

“Well, good for him,” she declares proudly. “Let’s hope he doesn’t blow it.”

Ash hums in agreement, falling silent for a few moments before forcefully clearing his throat. “You know, there’s some other gossip I’ve heard.”

Misty adjusts herself to get more comfortable and smirks into the darkness. “Why do people keep telling you things?” she teases, but she only gets a half-hearted chuckle in response. “Okay, what’s the gossip?”

“Well,” Ash begins, a bit awkwardly. “I actually heard that someone likes me,” he says. “Like, like likes me.”

“Oh, yeah,” she answers flippantly, a little bummed it’s not something new she didn’t already know. “That Kalosian friend of yours. Serena, right? The one that kissed you.”

She hears Ash startle in his sleeping bag. “How did you know about that?” he demands.

“You think you’re the only one who gossips?” she asks, grinning, and she can practically hear him pouting.

“Whatever,” he grumbles. “Not her though. We talked about that whole thing, and she explained it was just something she had to get out of her system so she could move on.”

Well, that is certainly brand new information, Misty thinks, her interest piqued once again. Honestly, she kind of admires the other girl; Arceus knows she doesn’t have the guts to do something like that. “So, who likes you, then?”

Ash hesitates for a moment before sighing. “They wouldn’t say,” he admits, then adds, “But they said you know.”

Misty’s eyes widen as the dots connect, suddenly very, very grateful Ash can’t see her from his spot on the floor.

Shit.

“I like him.”

Misty jumps, startled by Daisy’s sudden appearance behind her in the kitchen, and clutches her shirt over her now rapidly beating heart. “Jeeze, where did you come from?”

Daisy rolls her eyes and leans against the counter to meet her little sister with a knowing smirk. “Like, don’t change the subject, I know you heard me coming.” When Misty stays tellingly quiet, she repeats herself, “I like him. I’m glad we got to spend some time with him this time.”

“What are you talking about? Who?” Misty tries, hoping playing dumb will end this conversation before it can begin. But Daisy has always known her better than she lets on, and has no problem being blunt when she needs to.

“Ash,” she says like it’s obvious, because honestly, it is. “I can tell you like him, so I wanted to let you know I approve.”

“I do not!” Misty shrieks, her face immediately burning.

“Oh please, it’s like, so obvious,” Daisy scoffs. “It’s fine, baby sister, he’s cute! And talented; it’s clear he’s going to go places as a trainer.” She pauses to smile at Misty a bit more kindly. “You guys are a good match for each other. Total power couple material.”

“You’re crazy,” Misty insists, though she knows she isn’t being convincing. “H-he’s just a friend.”

Daisy looks at her for a moment too long and shrugs. “Whatever,” she sighs waving her off. “Keep being in denial then. Just make sure you get some sleep before the ballet tomorrow.”

She goes to leave, but pauses at the door, turning to look at Misty once more.

“What?” Misty asks defensively.

“We’re going to make sure you look extra gorgeous during the show, just FYI,” Daisy says knowingly, with a wink. And then, just a bit more mischievously, adds, “I saw how he looked at you after practice today when you had your hair down.”

At that, she disappears back down the hallway, leaving Misty alone once again, gently running her fingers through her hair.

“I see Ash is here,” Violet purred in Misty’s ear as she passed by her with another plate of hors d'oeuvres for the snack table.

Misty flushed, but pointedly schooled her expression into something more aloof. “He is,” she stated matter-of-factly. “He’s a Champion and World Monarch, and perfectly at home at your stupid, pompous, ‘high society’ party.”

Violet smirked. “And that’s, like, the only reason you invited him?”

“He also happens to be my best friend,” she added uselessly as Violet’s grin continued to widen with every excuse. “What?” she finally snapped.

“Oh, nothing,” Violet laughed, waving her off and placing her plate on the table. “Just tell him I’m glad he could make it. If you aren’t too…busy.”

~

Ash was never the biggest fan of these types of events.

In fact, he was fairly certain his publicist was going to faint when she heard he willingly went to a party all on his own without needing to be bribed, but having Misty there definitely made it all at least a little more tolerable.

The Cerulean sisters had gone all out, transforming the gym’s covered aquatic battlefield into a ballroom filled with twinkling lights, lively music, and delicious snacks. Nearly everyone in attendance sported tacky headbands or goofy glasses displaying the new year and a fancy glass of their drink of choice, dressed to the nines for the occasion.

Even Misty had been talked into wearing something elegant, form-fitting, and sparkly, her hair let down and curled ever so slightly at the ends where it barely brushed her shoulders.

Not that Ash paid any attention to that kind of thing or anything. She just looked so different when she looked all girly, was all.

He took a swing from his drink to cool off, feeling his face flush. Obviously he was just warm because of all the people.

Misty came click-clacking back over to him, her own face looking as red as his felt, looking flustered and uncomfortable (though Ash was pretty sure the latter was due to the heels she had been complaining about all night), two freshly filled flutes of bubbly champagne in her hands. She handed one to him, shaking her head at his raised, questioning eyebrow.

Don’t ask,” she grumbled, as Daisy clinked a glass somewhere across the room.

“Okay, everyone!” she announced. “It’s like, almost midnight!” She pressed a button on a remote, and the Jumbotron above them came to life, showing the dark sky around the grand entrance to the Indigo Plateau. The people around them began to count down.

“10, 9, 8…”

Ash nudged Misty with his elbow, offering her a weak smile, which she thankfully returned, even though it didn’t reach her eyes. She seemed distracted, which considering the circumstances, meant that whatever was weighing on her mind must have been a doozy.

“7, 6, 5…”

He saw her take a deep, shuddering breath, and he frowned at the sight. “You okay?” he asked. She nodded, giving him a strained grin and a dorky thumbs up that did weird things to his heart.

“4, 3, 2, 1!”

Fireworks exploded around the Indigo Plateau as the whole room erupted into cheers.

He met her eyes and smiled. “Happy New Year, Mist,” he told her. She returned his gaze, her eyes wide for just a moment before suddenly hardening in determination.

“Screw it,” she replied, and before he could wrap his head around what was happening, she had grabbed his collar and pulled him towards her, their lips crashing together in an eager and fervent kiss.

It took Ash’s brain a moment to catch up, his whole body suddenly alight and his heart pounding against his chest, but as soon as he was able figure out what was happening, Misty was already pulling away.

“Happy New Year, Ash,” she whispered in his ear, then spun on her heel and disappeared into the crowd.
