Fallout 4 has just received a brand-new update for May 2026. This update has significantly increased the storage size of Fallout 4 Creations libraries on most consoles.
Aside from the usual Bethesda technical hiccups, Fallout 4 enjoyed a very successful launch back in 2015. Bethesda's post-apocalyptic action-RPG sold over 1 million units in its first 24 hours solely on Steam, and it received critical acclaim from many, with the game retaining a Top Critic Average of 87 on OpenCritic. But like so many of Bethesda's games, launch was just the beginning for Fallout 4. Both minor DLCs and major story expansions were added to Fallout 4 in the years following its debut, and now, well over a decade since its launch, Fallout 4 has just received another major update.

Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are purported to receive remasters or remakes in the near-ish future, but the timeline is quite heartbreaking.
Fallout 4 Console Versions Get Increased Creations Storage Limit
In November 2025, Bethesda announced that it was expanding Fallout 4's Creations storage capacity on console. This update finally arrived on May 27, 2026, when Bethesda expanded the Creations storage capacity on most console versions of Fallout 4, allowing players to download more mods from the Creations page. While the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox One versions of Fallout 4 have had their Creations storage limit increased from 1 or 2GB to 15GB, the Xbox Series X/S version of Fallout 4 now has a Creations storage limit of 100GB.
But before fans eagerly rush off to download this latest Fallout 4 update, Bethesda has issued a warning that this patch could cause load issues with the player's save file. Anyone with a Fallout 4 PlayStation or Xbox save file that dates back to before November 10, 2025 may run into a save issue after this latest update. Anyone with a save file from after November 10, 2025 should be safe to go ahead and download the update, or alternatively, those with an older save file can still preserve their progress by heading into their Fallout 4 Creations menu and manually saving their load order to Bethesda.net.
Originally called the 'Creation Club,' Fallout 4's console modding system was added to the game back in August 2017. The Creation Club was intended to offer a streamlined way for console players to mod Fallout 4, just as PC players had been doing for years prior. However, Fallout 4's Creation Club was met with controversy upon its launch as, unlike PC mods which tend to be offered by creators for free, many of the initial Creation Club mods charged in-game currency to download, currency that could only be obtained through cash payments.

The Creation Club was renamed to 'Creations' back in November 2025 with the launch of Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, which itself drew ire from fans upon its own launch due to severe technical issues. Creations also released alongside the Verified Creator Program, which lets both professional developers and fans alike earn money from the paid mods sold on the Fallout 4 Creations platform.
