The Maine Department of Environmental Protection`s Bureau of Air
Quality has issued an Air Quality Alert for particle pollution until
11 PM EDT this evening.

Particle pollution levels are expected to be in the Unhealthy for
Sensitive Groups range for the entire state today.

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection recommends that
individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to
reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be
especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants
include the very young, the elderly, those with pre-existing
respiratory problems such as asthma, those with heart disease and
anyone who is working hard outdoors. It is okay to be active
outdoors. But if you experience symptoms such as shortness of
breath, coughing, throat irritation or an uncomfortable sensation in
your chest please consider limiting the intensity and duration of
your outdoor activities.

A toll free air quality hotline has been established so Maine
residents can stay informed on the air quality situations. The toll
free number is: 1-800-223-1196.

...AIR QUALITY ADVISORY THROUGH TUESDAY AUGUST 5TH...

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy
(EGLE) is continuing an Air Quality Advisory for elevated levels of
fine particulate (PM2.5) through Tuesday August 5th. Pollutants
within those areas are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive
Groups (USG, Orange AQI) range.

The Air Quality Advisory includes all Michigan counties.

Smoke from Canadian wildfires remains trapped under a high pressure
system through Tuesday. As the high pressure system slowly moves
east of Michigan, it is expected that air quality will improve on
Wednesday.

It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor
activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory
diseases like asthma. Monitor for symptoms such as wheezing,
coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in nose, throat,
and eyes.

Reduce or eliminate activities that contribute to air pollution,
such as:
 * outdoor burning,
 * use of residential wood burning devices.

Tips for households: Keep windows closed overnight to prevent smoke
from getting indoors and, if possible, run central air conditioning
with MERV-13 or higher rated filters.

...AIR QUALITY ADVISORY FOR MONDAY AUGUST 4, 2025 THROUGH TUESDAY
AUGUST 5...

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has extended the
Air Quality Advisory through Tuesday August 5, for elevated levels
of fine particulates (PM2.5). Pollutants are expected to be in the
Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range.

The alert is in effect for all Michigan counties.

Any hopes that Monday morning would yield clearer skies were dashed
when a quick peek outside shows the same haziness that has plagued
the region for several days. As of mid-morning on Monday, nearly
every monitor in the state is registering at least USG conditions
with some reaching Unhealthy hourly readings.

The main culprit remains Canadian wildfire smoke, originating from
the Manitoba and Ontario Provinces. The second culprit is a stubborn
high-pressure cell planted over the Midwest which is holding the
smoke in place and compressing it close to the ground. The weak
clockwise winds will recirculate the worst of the smoke westward then
northward, back into the western U.P., but the entire state will
remain under hazy conditions during Tuesday. As a result, we will be
maintaining the state-wide Air Quality Advisory through Tuesday.
Models are indicating that as the high-pressure cell slowly exits the
region, Wednesday should be clean enough to end the advisories.

It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor
activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory
diseases like asthma.

Monitor for symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, chest tightness,
dizziness, or burning in nose, throat, and eyes.

Reduce or eliminate activities that contribute to air
pollution, such as: outdoor burning and use of residential wood
burning devices.

Tips for households: Keep windows closed overnight to prevent smoke
from getting indoors and, if possible, run central air conditioning
with MERV-13 or higher rated filters.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has
issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties:

New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk,
Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam.

 until midnight EDT tonight.

Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than
an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level
Ozone and Fine Particulates. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was
created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants
to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health
concern.

When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of
Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous
outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health
effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of
elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with
preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease.
Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal
physician.

over Wisconsin and continues to recirculate. The heaviest smoke
is expected across northeastern Wisconsin today, while lighter
impacts are more likely for southwestern counties. A few
locations may observe Moderate (Yellow) AQI, especially to the
southwest as a cleaner pocket of air is anticipated to move into
the state from the south. Conditions will continue to be
reevaluated on a day-to-day basis, including updates to the
forecast and any associated Air Quality Advisories.

MONDAY UNTIL 900 AM TUESDAY...

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has
issued the following...

WHAT...Air Quality Health Advisory for Wildfire Smoke.

WHERE...eastern Rio Blanco, eastern Garfield, Eagle, and Routt
Counties. Locations include, but are not limited to Meeker,
Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, El Jebel, Basalt, Eagle, Vail, and
Steamboat Springs.

WHEN...900 AM Monday August 04 to 900 AM Tuesday August 05

IMPACTS...Smoke from several fires in Rio Blanco and Garfield
Counties will produce areas of moderate to heavy smoke on Monday
and Tuesday. The greatest impacts are expected in areas in the
immediate vicinity of these fires, particularly in sheltered areas
and low lying terrain. Additional smoke impacts may be experienced
across the advisory area due to transport of smoke on Monday and
Tuesday.

HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: If smoke is
thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain
indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease,
respiratory illnesses, the very young, and older adults. Consider
limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.
Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is
making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in
your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.

...AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT...

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at
Albany has issued a Air Quality Health Advisory for Fine
Particulates, until midnight EDT tonight.

Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than
an air quality index value of 100 for Fine Particulates. The air
quality index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate
levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI
value, the greater the health concern.

When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of
Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous
outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health
effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of
elevated levels of pollutants include the very young and those with
pre existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease.
Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal
physician.

...AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT...

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources has issued an Air Quality
Health Advisory for Code Orange or Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
category due to Fine Particulates for Eastern Addison, Eastern
Rutland, Eastern Windsor, Orange, Western Addison, Western Rutland,
and Western Windsor in effect through midnight EDT tonight.

The air quality index, or AQI, is expected to approach or exceed the
Code Orange or Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category due to Fine
Particulates.

When pollution levels are in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
category, the Vermont Department of Health recommends that these
individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to
reduce the risk of adverse health effects.

People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated
levels of pollutants include the very young, older adults, and those
with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart
disease and those working outside.

Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal
physician.

Sensitive groups should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion. It`s
okay to be active outside, but take more breaks and do less intense
activities. Watch for symptoms such as coughing or shortness of
breath.

People with asthma should follow their asthma action plans and keep
quick relief medicine handy.

If you have heart disease: symptoms such as palpitations, shortness
of breath, or unusual fatigue may indicate a serious problem. If you
have any of these, contact your healthcare provider.

An Air Quality Action Day means that particulate concentrations
within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.

...AIR QUALITY ADVISORY THROUGH MONDAY AUGUST 4...

An Air Quality Advisory issued by the Michigan Department of
Environmental Quality remains in effect through Monday August 4. This
is due to elevated levels of fine particulates (PM2.5). Pollutants
are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range...with
some areas reaching the Unhealthy range.

The alert is in effect for the following Michigan Counties,

Chippewa, Mackinac, Emmet, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Leelanau, Antrim,
Otsego, Montmorency, Alpena, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska,
Crawford, Oscoda, Alcona, Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, Roscommon,
Ogemaw, Iosco, Gladwin, and Arenac.

Wildfire smoke from Canada will persist through at least Monday.
Overall hourly concentrations look to diminish but are expected to
remain in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range.

It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor
activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory
diseases such as asthma.

Monitor for symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, chest tightness,
dizziness, or burning in nose, throat, and eyes. Reduce or eliminate
activities that contribute to air pollution, such as outdoor
burning, and use of residential wood burning devices.

Keep windows closed overnight to prevent smoke from getting indoors
and, if possible, run central air conditioning with MERV-13 or
higher rated filters.
