It's on record with the costume designer that Crozier's uniform is deliberately more worn than JFJ's and Sir John's (it's very obvious in the first episodes - notice how pilly the wool of Crozier's jacket is compared to the others), but in this portrait, you can see a fun little detail - visible mending, and in a place that makes sense!

Good job patching that back up, Jopson. :3

Please also compare the fraying and pilling on Francis' bent elbow and the tarnish on his buttons vs Sir John. There's some color grading going on here, but you can see how much crisper Sir John's new uniform is. Delightful!

More mending! Look at the enormous patch on Francis' elbow -- it looks like it has been partially felted to blend in better.

His trouser pocket also has some wear and possibly a split seam sewn back up.
