Seeding Growth
Since its inception in 2017, MEII has awarded over $3.2M in Energy Seed Grants and in partnership with the Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator has helped launch/support 50 clean energy companies in the state of Maryland - many of which have received follow on grant funding and private investment
MEII has helped obtain over $214M in federal funding for the state of Maryland economy. Based on the share of the Strategic Energy Investment Fund (SEIF) that supports its activities, MEII has demonstrated a greater than 35X return to the State based on federal research alone.
Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Maryland is on target to reduce state GHG emissions in 2030 by 40% from the 2006 levels while providing significant job growth in the energy industry and providing economic benefits.
