Catradora travel Etheria 1/12 ✨ Whispering Woods ✨

"If you take the most efficient route and make good use of the daylight hours, you can cross the Whispering Woods in about a day or two.

We decided to take a bit longer."

🍂

All Calendars have been sent, so I can finally share the illustrations! This was for January, which also happened to be the first one I finished, all the way back in August. I love the idea of Catradora retrofitting an old horde skiff and using it like a camper van.

What do you think they'd get up to?

I'll be posting these everyday to end the year! See you tomorrow!

Hey all,

You may have heard EU GPSR regulations are coming into play December 13th. Like many small sellers, I think I'll have to stop selling in the EU for the time being. I really hate to do this, but I'm a very small seller with a lot of other work on my plate, so this is what is feasible at the moment.

I will be taking orders to the EU until December 10th 9am (UK time), with the goal of dispatching them by end of day. As way of apology, I'll be running a 30% sale on everything in my Etsy for the next couple of days.

Love,

Emilee

I was not consciously aware of that regulation... After 10 minutes of googling I completely understand why you'd have to stop shipping to the EU. There doesn't seem to be any carveouts for this kind of small time craft business whatsoever that I can find at a glance?? Hopefully something vaguely reasonable will shake out but it would be a very EU move to indirectly ban any business too small to have a factory.

It seems like in practice anyone trying to sell things into the EU from without will have to either employ a goalkeeper inside the EU, opening up a whole new market for rentseeking, or sell in bulk to a distributor. I guess they thought there's not enough opportunities for the middleman industry

This is a good summary, thank you 🙏 Hopefully things will change 🥲

There's language in the regulation about a expert help line and comprehensive guide aimed at "micro-SMEs" which I think is you. In the official FAQ (https://ec.europa.eu/safety-gate/#/screen/pages/obligationsForBusinesses, under "Do you have questions about GPSR? Check here") the first question is if there will be guidelines, but the answer only says that 'it will be adopted and published before GPSR comes into effect'. Further down there was mentioned a few exceptions for smaller "online marketplace providers" which included an exemption from a supposed obligation to provide a "online interface" where traders should be able to input "at least the minimum information required for each product" which hopefully means that Etsy will sooner or later provide such an interface which ought to make things a bit more clear on that end. Ideally Etsy itself should be able to function as the "EU responsible person", that would seem to me to be the sane way to do it anyway.

I did find this site though: https://speac-project.eu/

It seems to maybe be such a "comprehensive guide" and contain a "expert help line", albeit specifically aimed at Chinese businesses. But parhaps it can provide some degree of guidance when you have the time and energy to delve into it? It mentions "training activities and self-paced e-learning modules" which, yeah. I'd be having anxiety reading that if I was making and selling crafts. But maybe it all sounds worse than it is? A little? Hopefully?

Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it! When things have settled I'll have to dive into it

Yeah ideally Etsy would help out but there you go 🥲

Chipped!Glimmer vs Adora

Adora sneaks off to get the Failsafe by herself.

Prime's killer queen is waiting.

Read on AO3

(and if you're coming in late, catch up on Glimmer vs Catra here)

@emileedoodles did this amazing art for me last year when this fic was originally just a one shot (hahahaha *cries*) and even though the plot has changed a lot since then, I wanted to still show it off and this seemed like a great opportunity!

Posting this fic as part of the @wipbigbang

"We did it!" "Well done, Mr. Fell"

1941, West End London. Back in the dressing room after their bullet catch trick

The Fellowship When I was a kid, my folks basically told me I was a hobbit. I cherish the memory of them reading all these books to me--and I turned around and read them to my little siblings and eventually to my partner! I've drawn and painted a lot for The Hobbit but never The Lord of the Rings, and this ECCC seemed like the right time to debut one!

Catradora travel Etheria 6/12 ⛵Seaworthy Village ⛵

"Apparently Mermista and Sea Hawk were at the bar last night too, but we didn't really notice anyone else..."

🌊

I really wanted one of the months to be Salenias/Seaworthy themed, and I went back and forth on a few designs but couldn't get it to work in my head, both for composition and lore reasons. In the end I went for this. Hope you like it!

This a a reminder to not fall victim to the sunk-cost fallacy. Just because you invested time and energy into something, does not mean you should indefinitely waste more time and energy on it, if you decide it’s not what you want anymore. This goes for anything, from books, to relationships, to jobs, to hobbies, etc.

If it’s not serving you anymore, move on.

This is honestly one of the places I find Marie Kondo's advice most helpful. I stop, look at the thing I've spent time and money on only to realize I dislike, and I say, "Thank you for teaching me something about myself and my preferences. I think I've learned this particular lesson and we can part ways now."

And then I don't feel like I "wasted" things or made a mistake. I just tried one path of learning about myself, learned something, and now it's time for a different path. Works a lot better for my brain.
