Repost from AJ+

“When our grandchildren ask what we did during the genocide in Gaza, I’ll say I refused.”

"Ella Keidar Greenberg is in jail for refusing to serve in the Israeli army, a decision she announced publicly outside the military recruitment center. She’s currently being held in solitary confinement, according to Mesarvot, an organization that supports conscientious objectors. AJ+ spoke to her before her detention."

If we lived in an imagined idyllic age of days gone by, Sony would be running TV ads featuring a guy with frosted tips in a sports car saying shit like "switch 2? Try switching 2 Playstation instead" and he'd drive off and you see his car is full of beautiful women and twinks (it's woke) but they'd never do that these days

"oh why are the boys there why is it woke" I'm projecting cherry-picked pieces of modernity I personally find palatable onto my imagined idyllic past that's what makes it imagined and idyllic dipshit

By popular request (ones, nearly ten[s] of people are asking), here's my Republican-specific congresscritter tariffs script:

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent from [CITY/TOWN, ZIP].

I'm calling [REPUBLICAN REP/SEN NAME] to ask [HIM/HER] to save our economy.

The tariffs announced on April 2nd are taxes. The American Enterprise Institute says it's a tax increase that will destroy our economy. They say there are zero benefits, there will be zero benefits. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Cato Institute and Manhattan Institute all agree, it's just a wrecking ball made of taxes. There's no upside.

These tariff-taxes will cost American jobs—private sector layoffs are already starting—and destroy American businesses, short-term and long-term. This is going to ruin people. The stock market is already cratering.

If we as a country are going to make sweeping economic changes, it's congress's job to draft and vote on those. We need review and oversight, not to be handed down dictatorial decisions, no matter who's president.

So, I ask that [REPUBLICAN REP/SEN NAME] intervene by backing a joint resolution, or by any means available, to stop Trump's misuse of emergency powers. Put a stop to the tariffs, rein in the overreach, and return financial and economic decision-making to congress where it belongs.

Thank you.

(For Democrats, 5calls has a very short script that will work.)

I have never in my LIFE agreed with the American Enterprise Institute.

trump really brings people together huh

Chat, is it considered “abusive roommate behavior” to release a raccoon into the living space after you have asked your roommate for months to please clean up their messes (they do not pay any of the mortgage)

For context, when I used to live alone I would do something called “Princess Time” where I would do an initial sweep (to remove any significant hazards) and then I would release a raccoon into the living area and clean. This helped because I would 1) feel like a princess and 2) the raccoon would bring attention to things my ADHD brain had decided to ignore and I’d quickly clean that stuff up.

So like, if I’m expected to clean the house now, I will be doing it in the way that is most effective for me. And anything that has not been cleaned up after months of having sit-down talks and sending reminders and being promised things will change, might be deemed “trash” by the trash panda and thrown away.

We haven’t done since we moved into the house, because I didn’t want to cause my roommate or their cats destress or have their things destroyed by a raccoon

I am a raccoon biologist and one of the few people in the state allowed to take in captive bred raccoons that had been possessed illegally. The raccoon in the photos is Moonshine, but she is currently at the animal sanctuary where I work as I had been quarantining multiple new intakes from an abuse case. I still have two males (Rum Tum Tugger and Electra) left in my home enclosure as we are getting them neutered and then hopefully sending them to an AZA accredited zoo.

I wanna make things very clear that underneath all the whimsy, I am a trained professional.

"Anything is fine as long as it's legal" is not the sex positive position you think it is. Anything can be criminalised. Anything can be decriminalised.

In some places it's illegal to consensually choke your boyfriend. In other places marital rape is not a crime. Develop a moral compass instead of expecting your government to tell you what is right and wrong.

No actually it's not weird for me to focus on my own sex life on my own post when I'm talking about how the things I personally participate in are criminalised in my own country. This post is SPECIFICALLY prompted by anti kink and anti sex work laws in MY country. It's about MY life. Like yes it applies to other countries to so please participate but do not act like me talking about my own fucking life on my own fucking post is "a bit weird". For fuck sake.

This is the fastest anyone has blocked me lmao

Bringing the choking into it actually makes it better by bringing in dignity of risk and how the same governments who love pestering people over their sexual activities also tend to loooove legally interfering with people's choices "for their own good." Which is also shitty a lot of the time.

Then don't do it. This isn't about your preferences it's about adults being criminalised for consensual sexual activity.

if you want to actually start to end homelessness, you need to give homeless people unconditional homes, including when we use them to do drugs or sit around drinking. either housing is unconditional or it isn’t

someone sitting at home alone, an active alcoholic, squandering your charity, drinking all day is better situation than a street homeless alcoholic. someone using drugs in your charity house is better than them doing the same w no shelter

most of you would not like most street homeless people, I definitely don’t and didn’t when I was street homeless. for every one person who uses unconditional shelter to turn themselves around, someone else will do jack shit and very slowly, if ever, work through the issues that made them homeless, will maybe never be able to live independently. still better than street homelessness, still worth doing. ultimately either you believe that shelter should be universal or you don’t

homeless people actually can’t be rehabilitated if you want to end homelessness. we either affirm the right to shelter for the worst drunken, lying, filthy, cheating, self destructive homeless people that exist, genuinely irredeemable wankers, or we concede that shelter is not a right

This post is the distilled essence of everything I believe in.

What leftists fear isn’t an ~imperfect candidate~

What leftists fear is a democrat will take the reins from Trump, continue on the same path only with better PR, and then half the angry voices we thought were backing us up have suddenly disappeared.

A lot of people who got pissed at me for making this post in 2019 owe me an apology

Even without words, we communicate through our eyes.

  1. THEN PERISH
  2. Was anyone going to tell me, or….
  3. It’s free real estate
  4. I love you. (Here’s the latest news)
  5. Live slug reaction
  6. __ ? In my __? It’s more likely than you think.

And some highlights from the notes:

  1. Uh, yeah, I sure hope it does.
  2. THIS PERSON?!
  3. the WHAT
  4. Yeah, yeah, we’ve all seen it

Whenever someone complains about the $80 USD sticker price on new games, some folks like to bring up the fact that many Super Nintendo cartridges were retailing for the same price way back in the 90s.

The subtext of these observations is usually that AAA game prices have been effectively static for thirty years, so really, once you take inflation into account, AAA games are cheaper than ever.

A more pointed observation would be that, in spite of those thirty years of inflation, that $80 price tag has managed to become less affordable to the average gamer in 2025 than it was in 1995, which is an indictment that reaches much further than the AAA gaming industry.

Also you used to get a finished product. Of good quality.

Not really, no. Many games of the cartridge era – even AAA titles – were buggy, unfinished trash, and there was typically no recourse beyond buying a later cartridge revision at full price, if one existed at all. Final Fantasy VI (III US) is one of those games that had a sticker price of $80 USD in 1995, and its 1.0 release had terrible QA.

"America didn't intend to..."

This is what Americans are saying when they call their wars against the people of Iraq, Afghanistan, or Vietnam (or less commonly Korea) "mistakes".

It's not as "progressive foreign policy" as they might want you to believe, it's a very subtle form of genocide apologia.

America chose to drop those bombs, on those homes, where those people lived. It was planned and ordered, it cost a lot of money and required a lot of effort. It was no accident, no "blunder".

...and the people who were massacred by this, they never got justice. Washington did not get shunned on the world's stage for its atrocities. The perpetraitors got monuments and medal and discounts and holidays for their actions.

Asheville town hall turns chaotic as Rep. Chuck Edwards faces constituents

Keep hounding them! Don’t give them a moment’s peace. Do not be quiet. Do not be compliant. We won’t let them take our rights. We are not alone. We are more powerful than they are.

It took 4 people just to remove one man (for peacefully expressing disagreement with a representative's policies, as was his right). Imagine if two people had stood up. Or 10. Or 50.

There are so many more of us than there are of them. We are more powerful than cowardly GOP politicians. We are more powerful than Elon Musk. We are more powerful than Donald Trump.

This country belongs to the people. WE have the power.

They cannot silence us. They cannot defeat us. Don't wait. Stand up and do your part. Someday people will ask you what you did to help defeat Fascism. Now is your chance to make sure you have a good answer.
