oop. I've had a few new followers over this month, so just as a little bit of an intro:

I'm derry-rain, answer to anything. I'm in my thirties, a fandom dinosaur, and currently living mostly in military fiction fandoms.

I try to keep things chill on here, this is my fandom tumblr not somewhere I like to use for discourse. I do ask that this is respected, but tbh I haven't so far had to have any pleasant little quiet chats about it, so I think we're good.

This blog (@derry-rain) is multifandom and personal. My currently running sideblogs are:

@bobparkhurst - period dramas. was just military history but now it's expanding. HBO War, SAS: Rogue Heroes, The Last Kingdom predominantly at the moment. @proceed-with-cauthon - Wheel of Time @regseekings - SAS: Rogue Heroes (on hiatus for public posts as of March 2025, but a bunch of stuff is here).

There are other blogs I use time to time, but yes, these are the main ones.

From 2024 onwards, I'm hoping to use @rain-recs actively to share fic recs across all my fandoms.

My askbox is almost always open and you're fully welcome to come say hi whenever.

  • Wake up on the problematic side of the bed

  • Log onto tumblr and reblog posts from abusive mutuals
  • Attend narcissistic classes
  • Watch an irredeemable movie
  • Listen to offensive music
  • Eat a cancelled dinner
  • Go to sleep derogatorily
  • Have dreams that will have aged poorly by the time I wake up

Some of y'all gotta uncouple your personal self worth from your thought patterns. Me saying something is a reactionary thought pattern and urging you to examine it is not me personally calling you a fascist lmao. Everyone has thought patterns and some of them are going to be reactionary since yknow. We live in a society etc etc

Yeah like. that's not the same thing. we don't do thought crimes here. All it means is, if it hadn't occurred to you that these patterns might be reactionary or sexist or what have you, it's an opportunity to analyze that and see things from a new perspective

This is low-key another reason why callout culture sucks cause without the ability to learn from your mistakes there's much more incentive to deny them. It's okay to fuck up and need to reassess stuff. I'm not a fucking cop. I'm not gonna sit here and condemn you to the dungeon because you said something stupid.

i mean this in the gentlest possible way but if 75% of what you're posting for a given fandom is fuming rage spirals then maybe just maybe it's time to take a step back and consider whether or not you're actually having any fun with this optional thing you do for fun
