My friend asked me to draw her a picture of Vigilante and tbh I already wanted to figure out how to draw expressions with his mask anyway for funsies, so take this entire page of drawings Im gonna give her tmrw :D
It's still sinking in that The Owl House was about a girl running away to a fantasy world, all because of the ripple effects of losing her father at an unfairly young age — only to eventually learn that the fantasy world itself was made of the bones, and the flesh, of a loving father who'd protected his child with one of his final actions, before dying and giving life to that fantasy world. And eventually, in his truly final action, ever giving life to Luz herself. Luz ran away to the Boiling Isles, all because of a single book that her dad gave her — and unknowingly, she spent every day walking over ground that embodied parental loss. A world that was born from a parent's death, a parent who had to leave their child far too soon — and not just any child, but Luz's own new best friend, in all of this new magical world. And King and Luz were only ever brought together because of their fathers' deaths — before they even realized they had anything in common to grieve. Before they realized a reminder of that grief had been beneath their feet this whole time.
But, at the end of the day... their fathers both gave them parting gifts. Their fathers both gave them the key to come of age in a world full of people who'd care about them — maybe not the only world where they could've been happy, but a world they wouldn't want to imagine missing. Their fathers gave them the chance to meet each other. To understand each other. And, ultimately, to heal and grow up together. Until the ground beneath their feet stops feeling so heavy, like grief — and starts feeling lighter again, like a gift, and a happy memory.
characters going “we were lovers once”: eh, it’s okay i guess. it’s nice enough
characters going “we were friends once”: absolutely devastating. one hit knockout i’m gone
A rest day isn't enough. I need one billion years alone in a crystal.
guys i have to get this out or im gonna explode. in my life drawing class we are making our own series and mine is about lobster people, and the whole point of my project is to turn my class into furries--and its working. people relate to my lobsters...someone said they feel like their emotional reality was portrayed truthfully through these lobsters, these kind of ridiculous and funny but so painfully out of place and grotesque figures that you cant help but see yourself in if youve ever experienced being the "weird one". they dont know my secret plan but i am winning.
^this was my piece from last critique and it was received really well. people were like, "hey, thats how i feel."
here's the first piece, inspired by that cathartic scene in I Saw the TV Glow (if you're trans or a furry, or unsure about either of those, you must watch it).
if you saw what was inside of you, in your perception a ridiculous and unexplainable and forbidden version of yourself--would you allow it to breathe? would you take it seriously?
lobsters live for a ridiculously long time in the wild (average 45-50 years). they molt their exoskeletons several times throughout their lives and the process is extremely physically demanding, in fact, it is the most common way for a lobster to die. imagine physically trying to turn yourself inside out and exposing your fleshy, soft and vulnerable insides at the bottom of the ocean. a lot of times they lose their claws during this process, abandoning the part of their body meant to protect them, obeying the natural mechanisms to allow a rebirth and transformation.
people don't take furry art seriously. it's cringe, it's bad, it's unserious. it exists to be mocked & laughed at. with my pieces i am forcing them to take it seriously. i don't leave room for these lobsters to be perceived as a joke. lobsters are a fundamentally un-furry animal, they are insect-like and aren't cute or cool, and that is precisely why i chose them--i wanted to approach them as an outsider, and understand how it is that i've come to grow so attached to an animal that, before this project, i at best thought of as, well, a joke.
being misunderstood is such a deep fear i have. my identity as a furry artist is so commonly treated as an unfortunate choice i made, something that hides my artistic knowledge. a misplaced joke spoken out of turn in a conversation, i'm the kid at the adult table of "real artists." but if i can grab those people, and make them see it as valuable, see that they're allowed to enjoy this and view themselves as something "uncool", something not normal, something closer to what is really inside of them- that's all i want. furry artists are doing something so big and impossibly beautiful that i can't let it go unseen.
🐝 this bee is rooting for you. he knows you’re gonna be okay
TikTokers are such pussies when it comes to ships. “B-but they’re not canon 🥺🥺🥺😭😭😖😖” honey back in my day we shipped characters from entirely different medias uphill both ways in the snow
We need to reintroduce crackshipping into the zeitgeist. We use to be a society damnit.
ok i have to say something bc i see this sentiment a lot. yes i think fandom has a tendency to act like the only possible explanation for characters caring about each other or being nice to each other is that they are in romantic love and yes this is exceptionally annoying. however. sometimes when people point to certain moments in a tv show as proof of romantic love, they are not talking about the characters as if they are real people, they are acknowledging that the characters are in a tv show and that tv shows rely on certain tropes and shorthands to signify romance vs. friendship. pointing out that characters are not being written/shot the way platonic friends usually are does not necessarily mean that you think that platonic friends can't do xyz for each other in real life. please i am begging ALL of you to consider this nuance thank you ❣️
Reblog if, no matter the size of the role, you would agree to work with the Muppets if offered the chance to do so, no questions asked
