Just learned that when a sperm whale dives for food it goes so deep its lungs have to collapse and its heart beat has to slow so the pressure doesn't kill it. that must feel good as fuck if you're a whale. just diving until your heart slows down and the ocean pressure holds you like a weighted blanket. And it's cool and dark down there. I get it completely

imagine. Okay come with me on this voyage imagine you're some whaler from 1850 and you think that sperm whales are an unknowable force of nature that can't be explained and don't communicate but the ENTIRE TIME they were in fact communicating with each other so loudly it could shatter an eardrum and with such complexity they could identify each other by region. you just couldn't hear any of that because your body wasn't the right shape to interpret it. But it was full of meaning the entire time.

Now come with me on a different journey okay imagine you're a creature with complex things to communicate and there's somebody who wants to kill you because you can't speak in a way they understand and your body is useful to them

I wasn’t meant to “write code” or “review cases” I was meant to go on a long quest to rescue a maiden and a witch changes my gender part way through and then I rescue the maiden and she’s all confused why a knight is a girl because of medieval gender roles but who’s she to care she’s being rescued and im kinda cute and we get back to the kingdom and blow a bunch of peasants minds that lesbians exist & they’re all fascinated meanwhile we’re baking bread and putting our cat in court jester robes or learning to sword fight with one another
