My love,gravity falls,has made its comeback with the new book and I wanted to hop on the billsona trend I’ve been seeing~
And a little dialogue thing:
Working on this for awhile,but I wanted to imagine what would of happened to the other Hanna-barbera mystery shows if they were updated as much as scooby doo was.so, I choose to modernize/redesign the funky phantom and crew,modernizing the art-style a little while keeping its traits and updating the wardrobe. I had gotten this idea when I had first saw that the funky phantom was supposed to be In the scoob movie and even made it as far as an animatic of Mudsy haunting a house.So, in my modern take of how the funky phantom crew meet, skip, April,augie, and Elmo of course find the haunted house trying to get away front the rain that’s home to the grandfather clock that Mudsy and boo got stuck in.
The ghosts that’s fabled to haunt the house starts chasing and terrorizing them through the place and causing supernatural illusions of the whole house till they notice that the grandfather clock has been left alone, and that the time on it was wrong.They race to the clock,fixing the time, and the terrifying ghosts chasing them are pulled back into the now shaking grandfather clock.It rings for midnight and out comes flying the regular forms Mudsy and boo as they are flung out into the middle of the floor.acid shenanigans and confusion for the teens and dog as the ghosts that have been chasing them for the last couple of hours, are now running in terror from them.
After getting the two to calm down, Mudsy introduces themselves and explains that him and boo were chased into the clock during the revolutionary war, being chased by what they thought were redcoats but thinking about it,what chased them was much to large to be what was normal for a human, only they had meant to hide in it and were instead trapped inside,the clock becoming their final resting place.They don’t remember much else,their time as ghosts haunting the house over the years being very hazy,or why they acted in such a way.
Cue the teens having their first long running mystery of helping Mudsy and boo find out what happened to them,what chased them into that clock so many years ago, where did the grandfather clock came from that seemed connected to why they acted like stereotypical ghost over the years as inspecting the clock came to the realization it was missing pieces to be able to ring at midnight in the first place,and whose house was this in the first place as Mudsy explains it was abandoned even in their time. So Mudsy and Boo join the others and the group help solve mysteries along the way of finding out the own mystery behind their new ghostly companions.
I just thought of something…while the future changed ….the past still has that erased futures versions of the boys changing things for the broship…and that would include shooting Clyde to stop him from killing Kyle…so would dead adult Clyde still be in past South Park?? South Park has a history of things not staying dead just saying…
Okay so I had gotten this cute idea in my head and basically had to draw it.
- Essentialy after Helmut’s body is recovered and brain reinserted, Helmut himself from time to time tends to still have panic attacks from being alone in his head for so long..and while his friends are together again they can’t be all together at once.
So cue Cassie(and Raz )teaching Helmut how to project archetypes to help as a coping mechanism so he’s never truly alone and so he tries it for the first time! His subconscious want for his friends to always be nearby set the projection as the feast band,his mind’s projection of his friends…but sense they also count as representation of his senses…the power kinda counts them as one entity..hence Mini -band! Which earns a chuckle out of Helmut that this is what his subconscious brought forth from him~
So I was watching old funky phantom episodes the other day and realized Mudsy “driving skills” reminded me of a scene from the hellbent music video and I just needed to draw both Mudsy and Boo in the Looney Duney with Arthur’s and mystery’s reactions from the video. I tried my best to draw boo and Mudsy in the art style as best I could as well~!
So I found out that we were cheated even more with the Scoob movie with a deleted opening where the funky phantom made an appearance! Why he was cut in a movie which was supposed to be an introduction to the extended Hanna barbers universe I don’t know…but the animatic of the deleted opening was so good I had to redraw my favorite shot from it where muddy spooks Scooby with a good old fashioned boo~! Everything is hand drawn except the background which is an old background image from the older Scooby doo episodes.
It also gave me an idea on how they can introduce the funky phantom to their extended universe with a rebooted origin based on how he acts in the deleted opening. Maybe he and boo act like typical mean trickster like ghosts until skip augie April and Elmo come to the haunted house fixing the grandfather clock and it turns them back into more of what they were like in the old show personality wise!

Okay so I no spoilers cause he appears in the promo but bushroot looks kinda ... dead for a plant based villain like when they redesigned the fearsome four for the episode they went one way with the other three and completely in the opposite scale for bushroot! So I though I take a screenshot and add some of his original color back and his baby blues to kinda give life back in him!( he look more like he’s done with this whole situation omg with gave him eyes )
I contemplated who should be the main ghost baddie on the mystery x Scooby thing I’ve been doing and figured why not go with ghost numero uno, Old Man Wickles,aka,The Black Knight Ghost~!One of my favorite Scooby doo villains as well as his design in the second live action movie was one of the few I didn’t hate for the monsters.i even considered doing that version faceplates for designing the helmet but that was hard to draw normally let alone in a specific style.
